We're on the clock, so time for a commercial break.

I'd listen to offers if the phone is ringing. It's a long way to #94.

Raiders get the best TE in the draft in the best TE draft on years at #35. Well done.

Porter Jr. going to the Steelers is poetic, not gonna lie. And now the Titans just told everyone that Malik Willis is a bust trading up to take Levis (another bust).

That's the risk you take being in the green room. We saw it with Aaron Rodgers. We saw it with Lamar Jackson. Blame the Colts. They put up a good smokescreen that he was gonna be their guy to keep other teams from realizing that Richardson was the target to avoid getting leapfrogged. They had to be panicking when they saw that #3 had been traded but breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was the Texans back on the clock having already picked Stroud. The NFL advisory committee had every reason to expect he was gonna go high.

I think he fattened up for the Combine. That's why he stayed in that hoodie. I don't think the kid is averse to working. Some people are just slightly built. I expect he'll probably add some weight at the NFL level but I doubt he's ever a guy playing at 200+.

Dave Tepper has become a major asset for the Panthers
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bingo. You aren't drafting a QB at #1 overall for next year. You're hopefully drafting for the next decade. My concern is that we think that Reich's system plus Bryce Young means you can get by with JAGs at the other offensive skill positions. That's what we did with Cam. That'll lead to a short shelf life for our QB again. Young won't be running like Cam did, but he'll be scrambling around trying to buy time for his subpar weapons to get open and that'll lead to taking more hits. -
Colts taking Will Levis in the 2nd after drafting AR15?

Colts taking Will Levis in the 2nd after drafting AR15?
LinvilleGorge replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
What an idiotic comp. Montana was 31 years old and had missed 8 games the prior season when they traded for Young. I very seriously doubt any team has ever drafted QBs in the 1st and 2nd round of the very same draft. Irsay must be huffing glue. -
Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers Select Bryce Young - QB - Alabama
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, can't they play some camera tricks here. Let Bryce walk a couple of steps out front so he doesn't look like a 12 year old kid between two adults. I hope this guy is gonna be great but damn... I'm gonna be concerned about his size for awhile. He's gonna have to take a few slobberknockers from some of these 280+ freaks before I learn to expect him to get up from it. -
Does the Atlanta pick influence the Panthers on day 2?
LinvilleGorge replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I sure hope not. I don't like being reactive with roster decisions. But I say this also knowing full well that TD was drafted primarily to be a Vick stopper. We needed someone to spy Michael Vick. -

I'm a firm believer that once you have that franchise QB in place, you build around him FIRST. If that means putting the D on the backburner for a year or two then it is what it is. I mean, as things sit right now I'd honestly take our overall talent on D over our overall talent on offense so this seeming focus on defense, defense, defense has me a bit baffled since we went out and hired an offensive minded head coach and have mortgaged the next few years of the franchise on a trade up to #1 to draft a QB. You'd honestly expect the polar opposite approach. Let's make sure we get the most out of this investment that we've mortgaged the immediate future of the franchise to acquire. -

Not gonna lie, this talk about being able to save money on offense now that we have this solution at QB freeing us up to focus on D gives me PTSD style flashbacks of the mistake we made doing exactly that with Cam. At least we have an OL in place this time around. -

The Texans need Will Anderson to be Von Miller 2.0 for that trade to be worth it.

Nobody believes that Bryce Young actually plays at 200+ pounds. I bet his actual playing weight is closer to 185.

I think the biggest advantage Tremble would have over Thomas is being on a cheap rookie contract. They both pretty much suck. Then again, there aren't a ton of quality #3 TEs on the NFL. You're third strong for a reason. Does Tremble play ST? That'd be another feather in his cap. Third stringers should be ST contributors for the most part.

It honestly won't be surprising to see Hooker go ahead of him at this point.

Which team ‘won’ round 1 and which team ‘bombed’
LinvilleGorge replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sitting with a Cardinals 1st rounder and a Texans 1st rounder for next year has to make you the leader in the clubhouse to land one of either Drake Maye or Caleb Williams. -
If Porter is there I don't see us passing. Achilles injuries are brutal. Jackson might never return anywhere close to form. Henderson is terrible. Horn has been injury prone through two seasons. I think we planned to go EDGE but I doubt we planned on Porter potentially being available.

Which team ‘won’ round 1 and which team ‘bombed’
LinvilleGorge replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Drafting a RB in the top half of the 1st = L. The Chiefs drafted a guy I thought was gonna be a 3rd rounder. The Eagles killed it on paper. The Steelers have been very un-Steelersish in recent years reaching on need. -
Joe Person: Dave Tepper tipped Panthers next pick
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We have bandaids, I'm not sure we have any long-term solutions. Thielen is 32 and is on the decline. Chark is talented but is usually injured. TMJ will hopefully develop. On paper, this is definitely a bottom 10 NFL WR corps. Hurst is a former 1st round bust who is knocking on the door of 30. Three teams in five years basically putting up good backup caliber stats. I honestly think we significantly overpaid him.- 40 replies

That's my concern. When you look at our offensive weapons we signed a legit top tier RB. Yay. But our receivers are a guy who has the skills but has never stayed healthy, a 32 year old on the decline, and then a bunch of unproven youngsters. We signed a bust of a former 1st round TE who is already nearly 30 and our other TEs are basically borderline NFL talents. The offensive skill positions need help.

He's a less likable Sam Darnold.

What? Nolan Smith went to the Eagles at #30.
