  1. If we're just objectively looking at his numbers compared to other starting QBs, he actually really is horrible. Bryce's improvement has been moving from a guy who didn't look like he belonged on an NFL roster to graduating to potentially good backup/journeyman stopgap starter level.
  2. I'm not saying they have to do it. I'm begging that they don't. What I'm saying is if they're pretending he's a franchise QB and/or Bryce views himself as a franchise QB or his agent thinks he can get him paid as a franchise QB from off the record conversations he'd have judging his client's value around the league then that's what it will take to sign hin before he had an opportunity to openly negotiate with other teams. My concern is that the Panthers are gonna give this backup/replacement level starter $50M+ just to continue pretending that trade wasn't a kneecapping mistake.
  3. What market? He's not a free agent. He can only negotiate with us. As desperate as the Panthers are to pretend that he's a franchise QB if they re-sign him that's how they'll pay him. If they don't, it's basically a flat out admission that no one sees Bryce Young as a franchise QB including himself and his agent.
  4. If you pay Bryce $50M a year you greatly limit your ability to put the type of team around him you need to have to have a chance to win. THAT is the problem. Hell, we can't win with him on a rookie contract. How the hell are we supposed to start winning with him paying him like a franchise QB and having to make tough roster decisions to accommodate his cap hit?
  5. Bruce can't be that. Darnold can make a ton of throws that Bruce flat out can't. Darnold's physical talent doesn't handcuff your play calling like Bryce's does. You just have to protect Darnold from himself and not ask too much of him in terms of putting mental pressure on him. That's when he cracks and turns into a turnover machine. Bryce limits the hell out of your play calling. Deep outs? Pretty much eliminated from the playbook. Sideline throws to the wide side of the field when you're on the hash marks? Woah boy. That's begging for a pick six. Throws more than about 10-15 yards beyond the LOS? We're basically having to scheme up those shots to come on 3rd or 4th and short when the D is expecting a run or a quick hitter. 3rd and long is basically a "gain a few yards to hopefully flip this field position eith this upcoming punt" play call versus trying to actually move the sticks. The opposing defense is essentially treating the entire field like its the red zone because Bryce can't really threaten them vertically outside of scheming up deep shots on traditional power running downs... something they'll likely be on the lookout for next year after studying up on us doing that with success down the stretch last year.
  6. It has a lot to do with it. There's less PT available for rookies on good teams because they're good teams due to having better rosters.
  7. You're delusional if you think he has top 10-12 potential. Darnold always had the high level physical skills that Bryce utterly lacks, he just struggles with turnovers when asked to try to carry an offense. He landed in an ideal situation where he was basically just asked to be a high level game manager. The problem with the few remaining Bryce stans is that they just can't accept that Bryce is a massive limiting factor to an NFL offense.
  8. Mediocrity becomes your ceiling. You absolutely cannot saddle yourself to paying a Bryce Young level QB. He's a backup/replacement level starter.
  9. If you have a sub-.500 team and your 1st and 2nd rounders (honestly, I'd go as deep as 3rd rpund) aren't getting very significant playing time in their rookie season you done fuged up.
  10. Honestly, I'll probably just tap out if it happens. Tune in again some time down the road if we ever jerk our head out of our ass as a franchise.
  11. If we pay Bryce like a franchise QB we're completely and utterly buttfuged.
  12. I mean, our TE room does suck but we had other pressing needs and no surefire upgrades in the draft. I was surprised at how many TEs went in the first three rounds. I think most everyone was. You want a guy who projects at least as a guy who has the potential ceiling to be a starter in those rounds and I didn't see 11 of those in this draft. Off the top of my head, I think that's how many TEs went in the first three rounds. It was in that range. That's roughly 10% of the overall picks. Definitely did NOT see that coming with this TE class.
  13. I was actually getting to but after that I'll get around to it tomorrow. Sorry someone else's struggle is minorly inconveniencing your browsing experience. Asshole.
  14. It's extremely easy when you view your employees as subhuman leeches that only exist to serve you while costing you as little as possible.
  15. In large part because there's probably no one offering anything of value. If the only thing you can get in return is a conditional late rounder or something of that nature then yeah, we're probably better off just bringing him in for another camp and see if he put in the work to improve this offseason.
  16. Seems pretty harmless after the draft. But yeah, I wouldn't want scouts and other folks involved in the process generally unaccustomed to dealing with media questions to be talking about the draft before the draft. I like it. Now we know who to praise for the picks that work out and who to cuss for the ones that don't. LOL
  17. If this draft class works out maybe we need to start hiring the mock draft big board guys and tell the PFFers to fug off. LOL
  18. I honestly think Tremayne looks more promising than XL.
  19. Not sure where that AI slop came from but I don't think NFL scouts saw an athlete who finally figured it out or he wouldn't have lasted until the 7th round and the NFL banned the wedge on kickoffs nearly 20 years ago.
  20. It wouldn't be a draft unless we pick a guy I've literally never heard of before. At least we waited until the 7th round to do it. LOL
  21. One of the more baffling picks the Steelers have ever made. They're consistently good in large part because they don't usually do dumb poo like that.
  22. Maybe. Hell, it should be an open competition at #2. We paid Pickett like a good backup but that dude sucks.
  23. I wouldn't be opposed. I'm not high in him but that was considering his expectations of being a mid-round pick. Now we're in the 7th. That's completely different calculus.
  24. It's been two seasons. It just feels like one because we're still waiting for a season's worth of production out of him despite him already having 25 starts under his belt. The big problem is that he actually looked more promising as a rookie then he did as a sophomore. Coker has similar production in the same number of seasons despite having 18 fewer starts and 59 fewer targets.. Discrepancies in opportunities created by XL being a 1st round pick and Coker being a UDFA. But the Panthers finally accepted down the stretch last year that Coker is simply a better WR, regardless of prior draft status. If Coker had been provided Xl's opportunities from the start I think he'd be viewed as one of the more promising young WRs in the league.
  25. No one benefitted from an extra season due to COVID more than XL. This dude did nothing until his 6th season of college football when he was literally a man playing amongst boys. I mean, this dude literally went from a guy who might not have even gotten UDFA phone calls to a 1st round pick. That's crazy. For the record, I said all of this leading up to the draft when I was saying I wanted no part of him when the rumors started swirling that we were enamored with him.
