Panthers release first depth chart of 2024
LinvilleGorge replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope next year's QB class is better than expected. We gonna be picking early. Like first out of the gate early. -
I hope the Pats start Milton this year. Any QB they play is fuged. That is the least talented offense in the league by a considerable margin.
-
Trash throw.

Interviews are super important, especially the whiteboard work.
-
Richardson was my 1a and Stroud was my 1b, not being privvy to interviews. I could've easily been swayed to Stroud through the interview process. I just had a LOT of physical talent/durability concerns with Bryce. The dude proved physically tough last year. I still have some long term durability concerns but the physical talent short coming have taken center stage far and above any disability concerns.

Xavier Legette left practice early with lower leg injury
LinvilleGorge replied to PantherBoy95's topic in Carolina Panthers
Edited thread title for accuracy. There's no indication that Legette was carried off the field. -
I thought somebody would take a chance on his raw talent I the late 2nd or 3rd. But in terms of his college production and age, honestly 4th seems fair.
-
I wanted McConkey but had a feeling that Coleman would be the pick. I was hoping all the Legette talk was a smokescreen. I didn't see him as a 1st or high 2nd round pick at all.

I foresee Nathan Peterman as the next Panther QB

14 attempts and only 3 incompletions. That's pretty good. Oh wait... -
What happened to Matthews? I really liked him in the draft and he had a promising start in Philly then just fell off the map after two or three seasons.
-
Smitty has made numerous statements in retirement leading me to believe that he regrets a lot of that stuff and wishes he had been a better mentor and teammate. Having a gigantic chip on your shoulder as a player comes with positives and negatives. The positives were all the highlights on the field. The negatives were being an overall bad teammate. He was so competitive that he basically saw the other receivers in the locker room as opponents. They were competing with him for targets and he treated them accordingly. I honestly think that Moose who mentored him was the only fellow receiver he ever saw differently.

We're the new Browns. Minus the generational fandom from being around for 80 years.
-
I hate interviewers like that who are just trying to make people look bad for clicks. I mean, Legette could probably dribble that dude's head off the sidewalk like a basketball and there ain't a damn thing he could do about it. So maybe think about that before doing that disrespectful poo.
-
McConkey was my preference too. Especially after he ran better than I expected. Especially after watching guys like Kupp and Nacua come in and immediately light up the league. IMO, he's of that type of mold but faster. He could be a star.
-
I hope Legette works out. He seems like a legit good dude and he has the best accent in the NFL. But I wasn't onboard with the pick for a reason. You just don't take older "upside" guys high in the draft. Older prospects need to be polished and upside guys need to be young. When you're older and still raw from an actual skill standpoint that's a BIG red flag. I thought he was the type of guy who probably shouldn't go earlier than the 3rd. I honestly think we probably drafted a faster version of Laviska Shenault.

It effects everything. I remember when Ronald Curry was coming into UNC as the #1 football and basketball recruit in the country. Won the McD AA slam dunk contest and was so electric on the football field that he overshadowed fellow VA tidewater area star Michael Vick. He tore his Achilles before he ever suited up at UNC. I don't recall him ever dunking a ball and while he was still a good college QB he was nowhere near what he was in HS. He was a shadow of himself. Recall Jon Beason too. Went from one of the best LBs in the league to a replacement level starter. It's brutal.
-
Very few are. That's a devastating injury. That's why I don't understand why everyone in football media is acting like Rodgers is definitely still going to be elite at 40 coming off an Achilles. That's FAR from a sure thing. I'd actually bet against it.

How many games are you willing to give Young?
LinvilleGorge replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he starts out looking good I'll have hope. If he's still looking good by Halloween I'll start believing. If he starts out looking like he did last year, I'm out on his ass at halftime of week one. Not gonna lie. LOL
