  1. Based on our D looking at least serviceable against Minnesota I agree. I just wish we could've put one decent defense opposite of Howell or Maye. We had two really damn good QBs back to back and squandered them because we had all-time bad defenses. That's always been the story of UNC football. We've had elite offenses and we've had elite defenses but outside of the Curry/Peppers era, we've always paired elite units with atrocious units on the other side of the ball.
  2. Lincoln Riley with just non-terrible defense would be a force to reckon with. He always has elite offense and non-existent defense.
  3. When ND has made it to the playoffs they have gotten absolutely wrecked. They just aren't what they used to be and I honestly don't think they have the ability to get there. They'd be exposed if they were actually in a conference.
  4. No, I meant that if we're in a position to draft Hunter then Bryce will have clearly proven he ain't it.
  5. Leonard is a good college QB but I'm not at all sold on him as an NFL QB. I just see a really poor man's The Golden Calf of Bristol
  6. If we have a chance to draft him that means drafting him won't mean dick for us. Bryce has proven he's not the answer and we probably have a top five pick. Add an elite CB or WR either one and we still suck.
  7. They'll play who is scheduled the next five or six weeks. It's not like they're adjusting their schedule on the fly. LOL I'm not defending Clemson historically. I can't stand them. But I do understand their calculus. They understood the value of being an undefeated P5 team. They also understood that taking a loss as the ACC champ basically means you're automatically out of the running. They knew they HAD to go undefeated. That all adds up to heavily incentivising them to play a weak out of conference schedule. I get it.
  8. That just seems cringy to me, but to each their own. fug FSU, but that pre-game raring horse spear plant at midfield is the hardest poo in college sports.
  9. Decoy is no small thing. Anytime you can throw a massive curve ball it's a competitive advantage. John Fox talking about it: So, as soon as Peppers got here in 2002, Fox and Henning started drawing plays in the dirt. They figured putting the 6-foot-7, 290-pound Peppers on the outside was going to do a few things to an opposing defense, almost all of them good. If they left a little defensive back over there (like the Patriots did with the 5-foot-10, 200-pound Wilson), you could throw a jump ball and take a shot. If they doubled the biggest tight end in the league with a linebacker, that meant you had a light box and could run the other direction with great effect (and this was always Fox's preference). When he'd go in, it was part of their two-back, two-tight end personnel which they called "New Jersey," which left just one other wideout on the field. "For the most part, we did so we could run the other way, right?" Fox said. "But it was really a good little deal. If anything, he still accounted for a lot of touchdowns because of the design."
  10. I think Hunter's value is higher as a CB and part of that is simply because you can draw up a few plays to get him a handful of snaps per game on offense. He definitely won't be a full time both ways player at the NFL level but there's a long history of elite defenders getting some situational snaps on offense. We did it with Peppers. There really isn't with elite offensive players on defense other than putting in receivers deep against hail Marys.
  11. I can't stand Clemson but he's right. If App State is your out of conference "cupcake" then you aren't padding your schedule. Look at some of the teams that ranked teams played this week. #2 Ohio State played Akron. 52-6. #5 Alabama played Western Kentucky. 63-0 #6 Ole Miss played Furman. 76-0. #11 Missouri played Murray State. Beat them 51-0. #22 Kansas played Lindenwood. 48-3. #12 Utah played Southern Utah. 49-0. #16 Oklahoma played Temple. 51-3. #25 Iowa played Illinois State. 40-0. #15 Tennessee played Chattanooga. 69-3 I mean, do people really not realize that most of these week one and week two games are the college equivalent of preseason? There are a handful of intriguing matchups and the rest is just straight up can crushing.
  12. Oh, it'll be hilarious if Clemson loses. Them starting out 0-2 with a loss to App State? Pure pandemonium in Tigerville. LOL
  13. I'd be surprised. Mainly because of that UGA outcome. I would expect the best version of Clemson next week. You don't want to face a team coming off of an absolutely humiliating embarrassment if they're a well led organization. That team is going to be prepared. If they lose to App State, it probably will be time to start talking about whether or not the Dabo era is over. Do I think that means they'll reclaim their former glory? No. I think they'll probably continue their slide back toward what they were pre-Dabo.
  14. It blows my mind that there are legitimately Clemson fans who feel this way. Have they forgotten life before Dabo? I've never seen Dabo as a great coach, but he absolutely is a great program builder and recruiter and that's 90% of the battle on college sports and Clemson fans should have a shrine to the guy in their man caves.
  15. There's a big gap between the legit top 5 teams and the top 20 type teams. I honestly thought Clemson was probably a little overrated at #14 and UGA probably is legit #1. An 11 point spread on a betting line between ranked teams is pretty significant.
  16. I don't think anyone outside the Clemson diehards were surprised by that outcome.
  17. Early season games are largely mismatched schedule filler. It's the preseason of the college schedule.
  18. The ACC just isn't relevant on the national level anymore. I mean, when your uneducated conference champ gets past up for the playoffs that says everything
  19. So electric people had to pretend like he was floating interior talent at Alabama. But yeah, he was a very good college QB. I just always thought it was plainly obvious that he was one of those classic great college football players who just didn't have the talent to translate it to the NFL. They're just different games.
  20. If Bryce had jumped maybe I would've seen him. Camera must have been framed for a QB of normal height.
  21. That's the case for all the elite teams. The talent divide between the haves and the have nots is extreme.
  22. Wow. That UGA INT looked like the game closer Josh Norman had against the Saints. That was some elite poo.
  23. Woodshedding underway. Clemson is getting humiliated.
  24. Clemson just has absolutely nothing to offer UGA, particularly on offense.
