  1. Your love affair with everything touched by Deion Sanders is strange and comical.
  2. He's Will Levis on a better team. So yeah, in the early 2nd I'd start to get tempted depending on who else was available.
  3. Not really. Why would it be? I already know we sucked because we got wrecked by JMU. That told me all I needed to know. What you learned today is y'all are just as bad (well, exactly one point better). The state of college football in NC is at an all-time low.
  4. This. If we can avoid turnovers we can compete because that defense suuuuuuucks. Burrow and company will score though. The way they've done that guy is bordering on how we did Cam. He doesn't take the pounding from being the leading rusher but my God they have one of the worst pass protecting OLs in the league year in and year out.
  5. No one will care when they both finish sub .500 with barely any conference wins. Those teams suck. Everyone knows it. UNC has sucked for years with a small handful of players keeping them from being atrocious. From Howell to Maye to Hampton. Take away those three players and Mack 2.0 has very few Ws.
  6. I hope not, but this has all the makings of a classic Panthers letdown game. Just when you start to get excited again this team has punting you right in the dick.
  7. Never underestimate UNC's ability to blow it on the gridiron. I posted at halftime that they could very well still lose this game. Beating a team that got absolutely boat raced by JMU isn't a "huge win" for anybody, not even duke. They'll lose to every semi-decent team on their schedule, just like UNC will.
  8. There's no cell service in the Morganton area. Text was working up until today. Starting today there's nothing. Full connectivity here thanks to Starlink and a generator.
  9. Got my generator running and Starlink up just in time to catch the last Bama TD and watch Beck blow it. LOL
  10. Is Milroe playing as well as his stats look? Because, damn.
  11. Oh, I'm not messing with any of those tres until the power company comes out. I hacked me another way out through the edge of a neighbors yard along the woods. I'll take care of any damage caused by the traffic through which is just me crawling through in 4 low.
  12. It's all good. We got very fortunate. Nothing urgent. Just stuff I can work on as time allows. I have friends with trees through their houses or crushed their car or their house completely flooded. I have some trees down that aren't bothering anything, got some sediment washed into my pond, and need some gravel on the driveway. No big deal.
  13. Everyone has seen the pics of Boone and how bad it is. Wilson Creek headwaters are on Grandfather Mountain. It peaked at 94 feet in 1916. It peaked at a little under 14 feet for this storm. This is a catastrophic event but 1916 was just unimaginable.
  14. Definitely not. Bigger impact because of bigger populations now but definitely not a bigger flood. The 1916 water levels were mind boggling.
  15. Well, I'll be damned. Good call bro. 75 yards up the creek from the house. A big chunk of the creek bank let go and slid off into the creek. It looked like maybe 6-8 feet of dirt on top of bedrock and once saturated it basically slid off of the bedrock like a playground slide. I'll post up pics when I can upload.
  16. Water has already receded. As soon as the rains stops it starts dropping FAST. Can't upload a pic. Data speeds are crawling. No one has power so no home internet so cell networks are way overloaded.
  17. Yeah, the more I read about it that's what this is about. Doesn't sound like they're expecting a catastrophic failure, just that water will overflow which it's already doing. Yeah, that's a disaster in and if itself but the media has to get a hold of itself and start acting more responsibly. This hyperbolic bullshit has destroyed their credibility.
  18. I just need to confirm that the power is off on those lines. I can chainsaw and drag my way out of here pretty quick I'm just not fuging around near downed utility lines. The flooded road really isn't that bad. That water is a foot deep at max, most areas are more like 6". That water will recede below road level by nightfall. Of course the power company's emergency line is just ringing busy.
  19. Yeah, I think we got hit by a tornado. It's a warzone. Trees and power lines down everywhere. Looks like I'll probably be stuck at the house without power for days.
  20. Seems like it's wrapping up here. Wind has died down, just a light rain, and it's really brightened up over the last half hour or so.
  21. I really want to go solar but I've done the math forwards, backwards, and sideways and just can't make it make sense. It's a losing proposition no matter how I slice it.
  22. We considered it when we bought the house because we're over a half mile from the road. Fortunately, it's all buried line from the road so it's really not an issue from there. This is the first time in three and a half years that we've lost power for more than a few minutes.
