Of course Trump will try to politicize the vaccine(s) if one or more get approved prior to the election even if they don't come from the U.S. (like the Oxford vaccine). It's the only chance he has at this point. It's only people like you with room temperature IQs who buy into this type of politicization.

An echo chamber of people seeking out data and qualified opinions instead of conspiracies and wild, largely baseless opinions! Agh!!!! Run away! LOL!

The biggest issue with the Detroit HCQ study was that it was found that patients who received HCQ were also more likely to have received steroid treatment (dexamethasone is a steroid), potentially skewing the results and falsely attributing outcomes to HCQ treatment. For the "it's all about the money" crowd, dexamethasone is relatively cheap and is available as a generic.

What is your primary motivation for that stance based on the specific parameters you laid out (4 days into symptomatic illness)? Be honest now.
-
You would decline it? I would ask the doctor why he/she is prescribing that particular medicine. It's a question I often ask doctors who are wanting to prescribe a drug to me. Why? Why that particular medicine? Based on the Yale doctor's stance and the results of clinical trials, four days into feeling ill is likely too late in the disease process for hydroxychloroquine to make a significant difference and there are likely better options available at that point.

If they don't die everything is fine, right? I mean, that's the crux of the COVID is a hoax thinking, right? If you don't die, it was minor case. Listen, I don't care if Trump was touting it or not. The bottom line is that more and more sources are lining up suggesting that it isn't a very effective treatment. A pretty extensive trial just wrapped up in Brazil and it failed. I don't think Brazilian medical professionals are likely to be swayed by pro or anti Trump motivations. Maybe there are certain conditions where it can be more effective. https://medcitynews.com/2020/07/hydroxychloroquine-flunks-phase-iii-trial-in-mild-to-moderate-covid-19/

Sigh... even in your "gotcha posts" you display stunning lack of understanding. The heart issue hydroxychloroquine causes is ventrical cardiomyopathy. This can cause people to literally (as you sarcastically said) to drop dead with a heart attack. A common symptom of this issue is arrhythmia. Those people with severe autoimmune diseases that you're so downplaying who take hydroxychloroquine are constantly monitored for developing cardiomyopathy.
-
There are clinical studies linking hydroxychloroquine and heart issues dating back to at least 2013. This isn't a new finding in the least. You really have to stop just parroting right wing talking points without doing even the bare minimum of cross checking the info.
-
Do you really need this explained? Humans and cows share 80% of the same genome.
-
The only way I'll see that CNN or Fox sensational headline is if one of you post the link to it.
-
Very early use of hydroxychloroquine. Who knows, he very well could be onto something. What's certain is your motivation for latching onto his opinion. It's hilarious how you've made a judgement regarding my overall political philosophy based on one very specific issue, one that shouldn't be politicized but has been because it's 2020 in America and EVERYTHING must be politicized and it's because of winger nut jobs like yourself and the majority of the TB posters.

Continue your obsession then. Just don't pretend to be a reasonable, rational, and intelligent person. You're not interested in truthful information. You're just interested in narratives that fit your chosen worldviews and anyone who disagrees is wrong and so is their data. Tuning out major network media is not the same as being ignorant. Honestly, you're probably better off being ignorant than you are constantly slurping down information that reinforces your preexisting confirmation biases.
-
You call me a lost cause and yet here you are just continuing to harp about the media. I don't want to talk about the media. I don't care about their stance on this or anything else for that matter. I don't pay attention to it. I suggest you should too. It seems as if it's causing a borderline obsession issue with you. This is what I mean when I talk about political desperation. You believe so strongly that certain outlets are deeply incorrect and/or intentionally misleading that you're fully willing to buy into anything to the contrary, regardless of how idiotic the premise may be. It's confirmation bias to the extreme playing out in real time. Turn the stuff off. Tune it out.
-
Sorry man, going down conspiracy theory rabbit holes out of political desperation is the opposite of being a nuanced and independent thinker. I've said over and over in this thread that I do no watch any major network news. It's all heavily biased trash. The lock downs did work. Our curve was flattening. When we opened up too early and too recklessly that's when things skyrocketed again. It's not a surprise it's been worse in red states where the predominant messaging is that this is all a hoax and people were much less likely to take precautionary measures. These aren't theories or my personal opinions, it's what the data shows. No one has claimed that masks are 100% effective. They're not. But the data is very strong that they greatly reduce the spread of respiratory viruses like this one. This isn't new or even remotely controversial information. Stop being a fuging moron while thinking you're outsmarting people.
-
Hospitalized death rates are decreasing because they're getting better at treating this disease. A straw Trump grasped at didn't pan out. Shocking. The guy wouldn't constantly look like a moron if he actually listened to his expert advisers instead of Tucker Carlson.
-
Actual medical professionals aren't the media. I can't understand how you and some others can't comprehend this. What you guys are doing is the equivalent of talking trash during a football game when you're getting blown out 40 to nothing. The scoreboard doesn't lie. We're doing a terrible job compared to the rest of the developed world.
-
Some of y'all dumb as fug. For real. Sitting here trying to act like we're doing something right and mitigation efforts don't work when somehow the rest of the developed world has done a MUCH better job than we have.
-
Yeah, that's the better spot. The TB already has a COVID thread.
-
I've been saying this entire thread that a vaccine in early to mid-'21 was very possible. A lot of the groundwork for this vaccine was laid during the original SARS pandemic and we've seen more resources thrown at this vaccine effort than any previous recent vaccine effort. But there's a difference between available and widespread availability. There's not going to be widespread availability of a vaccine this year. Hopefully before cold/flu season of next year.
-
Agreed. You have to already know that anything Trump says is going to be belligerent, divisive, and passing the blame. I'm just glad he is FINALLY encouraging his supporters to wear masks.
-
Finally. Many months late, but finally

This really is day one of Stats 101 type stuff.

I especially like this picture. That face you make when you're going for your maskless photo op and the dude you're walking arm in arm with starts coughing.
