  1. Georgia has already been caught intentionally manipulating their data, so I'm not sure what to believe out of that state.
  2. We're not getting anywhere close to herd immunity levels by next year without exponential growth. I'm honestly not convinced there is long-term immunity to this disease from anti-bodies. That hasn't been the case with previous coronaviruses. Vaccine research is promising, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't a one time deal. It might not be an annual thing like the flu vaccine, but it might be something that's required say every 2-3 years to maintain sufficient immunity.
  3. Yes, we all know that the NYC metro area is the epicenter of this. Them being a hub of international travel with a very high population density makes that logical. But this isn't just a NYC problem. Go back to normal right now and you'll see mini-NYCs popping up all over the place in metro areas across the country. Our best option to combat this thing going into the fall is going to be extensive testing with contact tracing. To make that feasible, we have to get the numbers a lot lower than they are currently.
  4. This I agree with. But that's not what a lot of the "muh freedoms" crowd are crying for. They want things back to normal right now. That would be disastrous.
  5. So, since NY and NJ horribly botched their responses, the other 48 states should rush to botch theirs as badly as possible as soon as possible? What kind of logic is this?
  6. Burke County alone has 50 new cases since Saturday. Gotta remember, there's an up to 14 day incubation period so pretty much all new case data is looking 1-2 weeks in the rearview.
  7. Prices have risen for sure, but nothing like the Front Range.
  8. Oh, I'm not buying anything anywhere close to Charlotte, that's for sure.
  9. It's nearly twice as big as anything I'd ever consider. I don't want anything over 2500 square feet. Don't want to clean it, maintain it, etc. Don't need it.
  10. We bought four years ago. Our annual appreciation averages out to 7% per year based on our selling price.
  11. We've been thinking about getting off the Front Range for the past 2-3 years and were definitely gonna do it in the next 2-3 years so we're jumping the gun now because I think we're about to get rocked for awhile economically and it seems like 95% of people are completely oblivious to it. Cash in my chips now and buy at a heavy discount a year from now.
  12. Yep, I've had enough. We're buying on the western slope or Montana probably around this time next year. I'm pushing for Montana but if the wife is set on the western slope I'm not gonna fight it too hard.
  13. I can buy an actual fuging mansion in Charlotte for what I'm selling my 3 bed, 2 bath 2000sqft house for. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/14232-Carlton-Woods-Ln-Charlotte-NC-28278/80457354_zpid/?
  14. You'll have to forgive me for not getting too excited over anything coming out of China right now. I still remember them shipping a bunch of faulty COVID tests all over the world barely a month ago.
  15. There's not going to be a vaccination by this fall. Not in meaningful quantities anyway.
  16. Yep, we already saw it play out with testing. The common person couldn't get a test even if they were exhibiting textbook symptoms yet how many reports did we hear of asymptomatic politicians, celebrities, and athletes getting tested?
  17. It's cheap. The house I'm selling in Colorado for well over $500k could be bought all day long in the Charlotte area for half that.
  18. Seemed pretty relevant to the public health of Charlotte. I don't consider public health to be a political issue, despite the fact that everyone else is trying really hard to make it one. Seems like something that would receive widespread bipartisan support. If you support it, be sure to be there. Hug your friends and family tight afterwards.
  19. Trump is threatening to pull the Republican National Convention out of NC because he wants assurance he can have a full arena. https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-warns-may-move-republican-133918437.html Sports are likely to be played this fall without fans, but this guy wants a full arena of his supporters to massage his own ego no matter what.
  20. I really wish the world was this pipedream. Sadly, it's not.
  21. I don't disagree that there are a lot of similarities in the reactions. My disagreement is that society largely just ignored the Black Death and went about life as usual. It resulted in wide sweeping societal changes.
  22. History major here. Do you honestly think that is an accurate portrayal of how society as a whole reacted? Because, wow... it's wildly inaccurate.
  23. The entire globe implemented extraordinary measures to curb this pandemic and it has still infected 5.5M people killing 350k on half of a cold/flu season despite those extraordinary measures. Some people see this as "proof" that this was nothing to worry about all along. I swear to god if we continue to devolve intellectually at this pace our grand children will have to rediscover fire.
  24. My wife is from a small town not far from Ocean City. It's basically Myrtle Beach.
