  1. He said the Jets and Dolphins were being publicly discussed, he didn't say the Texans were game to work a deal with them.
  2. This is what I was talking about. Most fans can't grasp the concept of opportunity costs. Nothing happens in a vacuum. It isn't just about the draft. It's about the big picture. Don't feel bad though, Marty Hurney was a long-term NFL GM and he couldn't grasp it either.
  3. Beason was a 1st rounder too who also got signed to a huge 2nd contract. Yes, when talking overall investments those 2nd contracts absolutely matter. You're not drafting 1st rounders with the intent of letting them walk after 4-5 years. You're drafting for a decade.
  4. You forgot about Dan Morgan this quickly? All of those guys also signed huge second contracts that limited our ability to spend elsewhere. I think that's what a lot of fans miss. For every move there is also an opportunity cost. That move cost you the opportunity to make other moves. Hindsight being 20/20 and all, each of those huge second contracts proved to be a mistake.
  5. Yeah, I'm not convinced this is going to happen fast. But I am convinced their will be no shortage of competitors. If something happens, I think it will likely happen in the final weeks leading up to the draft.
  6. There's a LOT more than two investments we've made at MLB.
  7. It is a race. It's a race vs. the other teams trying to get Watson. He's a 25 year old MVP caliber QB. The Texans aren't going to struggle to drum up competitive offers.
  8. He literally has a no trade clause in his contract. He has to give the okay to any trade destination.
  9. Yeah they do. Their leverage is that there will be no shortage of teams interested in potentially acquiring Watson. Even if he's utterly done in Houston, they still have plenty of leverage.
  10. This is gonna trigger some people, but I'd trade #8, CMC, and Brian Burns for Deshaun Watson with zero hesitation. The problem is the Texans wouldn't take the offer.
  11. Please no. The Panthers have historically invested VERY heavily at MLB and we have an overall losing record to show for it.
  12. I don't ever recall it happening in my 25+ years of following NFL football. Jay Cutler getting traded from Denver to Chicago is the closest comparison I can recall off the top of my head and Cutler wasn't on Watson's level considering his turnover issues.
  13. No, I'm saying he wrote a very selective article. He didn't paint an accurate picture.
  14. This. In a hard salary cap league complete teams are impossible to build. It's why elite QBs are so valuable. We went 15-1 in 2015 with one of the worst WR corps in the NFL because we had an opportunistic defense and an MVP QB.
  15. He's assuming the Texans would trade Watson within the AFC. He's also overlooking a lot of quality pieces we have. CMC, Burns, Chinn, and Moore would all be valuable trade pieces.
  16. If we can get him without absolutely crippling our roster and/or ability to build a roster, it's an absolutely no brainier. He's a 25 year old proven MVP caliber QB. The opportunity to add a guy like that to your roster almost never occurs in the NFL.
  17. He needs to have a good week. He's been out of sight and out of mind.
  18. I'm most interested to see who we'll have on the OL and in the secondary. I think those two units will be areas of major focus this off-season.
  19. The reason why everyone knows it's you every time you crawl back is because you immediately go back to your same old BS. Post stupid poo, insinuate everyone else is stupid for not agreeing with your stupid poo, then cry foul. Good night indeed.
