  1. I'm gonna watch The Blind Side tonight because fug the naysayers!
  2. gettlemanjack right now: Look at him. How is he supposed to post reasonably when dealing with all this rage?
  3. There's a big difference between not viewing a move through homer goggles and scouring the internet far and wide to make dozens of posts about how horrible Oher is. Last year everyone - including myself - bitched about Gettleman not addressing OT. Now he signs one and everyone still bitches. The FA OT market sucks. It's not like Jon Ogden and Orlando Pace in their prime are out there begging to play for the Panthers for vet min. Bulaga is the only proven quality starter on the market and he's probably gonna get paid like he's a future HOFer due to that. I'm honestly not sure what some of y'all expected.
  4. If I worked this hard to be so negative about sports, I'd just quit watching.
  5. I just can't stand "fans" like him who'd rather see the team struggle and be right than see the team succeed and be wrong. Hell, I relish being wrong when it's in the team's best interest.
  6. gettlemanjack, we get it. You don't like the signing. Are you gonna eat crow if the guy plays well for us?
  7. PFF rankings incoming... People treat that site like it's the Bible.
  8. Screw the haters! I hope he proves them all wrong and we all laugh in their faces together!
  9. For all those ready to leap off a cliff regarding the potential signing of Oher, who would you prefer? We have to get some vet OT help and given who is available, who else fits the bill? Keep in mind, we employee his former OL coach, so we have inside info on who we're getting, pending his medical checks. Of course Oher is gonna get a ton of hate from Titans fans/bloggers. They stupidly overlaid him and it flopped on them. Kinda like Ginn in Arizona and Mitchell in Pittsburgh. We wouldn't be signing Oher expecting Jonathan Ogden and even if we do aign him, I doubt it would have any impact at all on our draft plans. Good lord people, settle down. Have a beer. Have a toke. Whatever you need to do.
  10. He was quite serviceable in Baltimore, the Titans just offered him way too much. His best two seasons were his first two, the same two years that Matsko was his OL coach. We need to add a vet OT and Oher is about as good as we can expect. The FA OT market is mighty light.
  11. Love it. These are the types of signings we can expect and the types of signings that can really help us without damaging our cap space. Oher had a rough year last year, but he'd be the most talented OT on our roster since Gross which granted ain't saying much. We know what Ginn would bring. Instant impact as a return man and deep threat.
  12. Only 29, but he's 3 seasons removed from a 1000 yard season and hardly played at all last season and when he did play he was exceptionally bad. In 15 games, he carried the ball 43 times for only 96 yards for a 2.2ypc and 0 TDs. He did add another 11 receptions for 71 yards. His longest gain of the season was 13 yards. Pretty clear he was finished whether he wanted to be or not.
  13. LOL! You mad. If you couldn't tell that post was slightly tongue in cheek.
  14. Hey, if you believe in your young QB, then build around him. Or... you could sign Jericho Cotchery and Jason Avant and pimp Byron Bell as a legit NFL LT because he's left handed.
  15. I think last year's stellar rookie WR class is having an impact on the way teams view veteran WRs. All of a sudden it's like teams feel as if they can find a plug and play WR in the draft. That used to not be the case. It used to take a WR 2-3 years of development before you could expect starter caliber production from them. My question is if that's the new norm or was last year's WR class just THAT damn good? I honestly think it's a bit of both. More and more college teams are adopting pass heavy attacks and the WRs are generally coming out better groomed. I think the tighter officiating for DBs in the NFL has a big impact too. Back in the day, NFL DBs were very physical and I think it took young WRs a couple of years to adapt to that style of play. So, I think going forward we'll see more success for rookie WRs, but I still think the 2014 class was very special. 600 yards used to be considered a very good season for a rookie WR. Last year, 9 rookies put up 600+ yards with a 10th coming very close. Three rookies put up 1000+ yards with a 4th coming very close. That's just unheard of.
  16. That looks to me like a guy who is carrying 228# with ease and who could potentially add some more.
  17. LOL @ Haplo E on this thread. I've long thought him to be one of the least knowledgeable posters on this board, but he's really trying to stake his claim for the undisputed #1 spot.
  18. Humphries reminds me a lot of Morgan Moses last year. All along, Moses was considered a mid-round prospect, but as the draft got closer and closer there was more and more talk about him sneaking into the 1st round. He ended up going in the 3rd round. Kind of where he was thought to be all along.
  19. Shaq Thompson at combine: 6'0" 228# Thomas Davis at combine: 6'1" 230#
  20. He's only 30 years old. Someone may trade for that contract, but it won't be us.
  21. All I know is that we have to get an upgrade at WR in this free agent market. Tons of guys out there who are better than Jericho Cotchery and Corey Brown. Even if we plan on adding another WR early, we can't necessarily expect that guy to come in and make a KB type impact. Last year's WR class was truly historic in terms of their impact as rookies. It's not the norm. Not even close to it. There are a lot of veterans out there who would be an upgrade over what we have right now and the depth of the market should drive the some of the prices down.
  22. If there's a guy there at #25 who Gettleman believes will be a good starting NFL OT, then I'm 100% alright with taking him.
  23. Yep. Remember when Atlanta landed an aging Steven Jackson and everyone thought that was going to be their missing piece?
  24. I actually wouldn't mind TB trading valuable draft picks to acquire AP. Sure, he may be a bear to deal with for a season or two, but he's a 29 year old RB who has been ran HARD his entire career. That tread has to be wearing thin. Panthers fans well know the dangers of big money RBs.
