  1. I hope not. That's worst case scenario IMO. Purgatory. I want him to be the answer or flop so that we can move on. Anything in between just delays the rebuild. Be the answer or be the one who gets us the one.
  2. If you give me the choice of playing in a trash division vs. a competitive division, I'll pick the trash division every time. Step one is qualifying for the playoffs. A trash division makes that a lot easier.
  3. I will be pleasantly surprised if we don't have a losing season.
  4. Yep. If Darnold isn't the answer, I think we're done dumpster diving at QB. Teddy was decent and we moved on quickly. I still have hope we'll do the same with Darnold if he proves not to be the answer.
  5. Also don't underestimate the negative impact of the '80s high school offense LSU was running prior to Brady's arrival.
  6. He didn't look good last year. I hope someone emerges at camp or there's a surprising camp cut elsewhere.
  7. Is this the same guy that was with the Giants, because good lord he looks a lot different now and not in a good way.
  8. I'm just saying, that's an average arm/average athlete for an NFL QB at best and he went #3 overall. What impressed me most with Burrow was his ability off schedule. The guy threw the same ball whether he was in a clean pocket, under pressure, running for his life, whatever. It was kinda crazy. I think that's where the talk of the Mahomes comparisons came from.
  9. When 25% of your schedule year over year is straight trash that's a significant competitive advantage. That division has just historically been two of the best ran franchises in the NFL against two of the worst ran franchises in the NFL and the results have conveyed what would be expected.
  10. Ugh. So basically torrential downpours next Monday - Tuesday.
  11. Everyone available this time of year either sucks, has serious injury issues, or serious off field issues. I don't think Tre is hurt and I don't think he's ever been a concern off the field, so...
  12. Oh, feel free to challenge my opinions. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again in the future. That guy's entire shtick is not voicing an opinion and just bashing anyone who has anything other than a straight homer line opinion.
  13. Bingo. Our reputation around the league is what it is for a reason. It will stay that way until we change who we are as a franchise in terms of consistent success.
  14. I think Ryan is about average. I'd put Cousins below and Baker above. I mean, Mayfield did throw the longest pass ever thrown in an NFL game this past season. Your "average" guy isn't doing that.
  15. I can't see the Allen comparison. Allen is significantly more athletic and has a significantly better arm. Allen's big knock coming out of college was accuracy and he's greatly improved in that department. Dude has a cannon.
  16. We know, man. They're know more about football than us. Every move they make is well founded. Everyone who disagrees with that is a moron. Meanwhile, somehow the Panthers have an overall losing record. That losing record has this far gotten worse under Tepper. Marty Hurney without a doubt knew WAY more than any of us about GMing an NFL football team, how the draft prospect evaluation process goes, how negotiating contracts goes, etc. That absolutely didn't get in his way of failing to intelligently implement any of that knowledge. My point is that if all you want to do is parrot that line and not actually take place in any discussion differing from that line, what is your point in being here? Serious question.
  17. I think you have to either oversell his talent or undersell the concerns between the ears to be seriously excited about his prospects. I hope he proves me wrong, but I think the most likely outcome is that this forum is dominated by 2022 QB prospect discussion before the first frost at BOA.
  18. Teddy actually surprised me with his ability to throw darts on the rare occasion he'd actually let it rip. He just very rarely actually did that.
  19. This is about on par with the "Sam Darnold is basically a rookie" stance.
  20. LOL of that's actually how you interpreted that.
  21. His physical tools are fairly run of the mill for a starting QB. Not a minus, but there aren't any real special traits either. That's an upgrade from Teddy's below average traits, but a lot of Panthers fans have seemingly convinced themselves that Darnold is a Rodgers type talent that has been squandered in NY. I just don't think that's at all accurate.
  22. Teddy's arm was significantly better than I anticipated. Honestly, of Teddy had the guts he could be a Cousins/Goff level QB. He has about that level of arm. He just doesn't have the guts to make the throws. And no, you completely missed my point here. Meanwhile, I never questioned Darnold's arm. I question Darnold between the ears.
  23. You know who had the strongest arm at the Combine in 2019? Will Grier. Not just the highest velocity that year, but velocity numbers that would hold their own in any draft class. https://www.ourlads.com/story/default/Quarterback-Ball-Velocity-at-NFL-Combine-2008-2017/10243/dh/ Darnold didn't throw at the Combine.
