  1. I think he does look to address needs in FA, he's just not willing to go down the road of grossly overpaying in order to do it. He's looking for stop gaps and role players in FA, not core players. Adding core players in FA almost always equals grossly overpaying.
  2. I'm not so sure how high Gettleman is on Cotchery either. I mean, hell, he's already admitted that Cotchery was a Dollar Store level signing. I don't see Cotchery as a lock to make the roster at all. I'm fine with him as a 4/5, but as a #2? Terrible.
  3. I don't think signing the likes of Oher and Long would alter our draft plans in the least. Even if you sign them both, I don't think you hesitate for a second to take an OT at #25 if there's on there you like. Or, maybe signing those two lets you go elsewhere in the 1st (maybe Jaelen Strong) and then take a guy like Cedric Ogbuehi in the 2nd since you wouldn't be forced to play him and you could just let him focus on rehab.
  4. No Ginn? I'd put Ginn at #4, bump Brown down to #5 and tell Cotchery that we've appreciated his time here.
  5. $5-6M for a guy coming off of a torn Achilles? I'll pass. I wouldn't mind Crabs, but not for that type of $$$.
  6. They need to just throw in the towel on Geno.
  7. I want to think that too, but I also remember saying over and over last year around this time that there was no way in hell we were going into camp with Byron Bell and Nate Chandler penciled in to start at LT and RT. Lo and behold...
  8. The same Bill Polian who fell back asswards into Jim Kelly AND Peyton Manning and who everyone thinks is a great GM because of that? His work as an analyst is exposing him IMO.
  9. Former #1 overall pick. I believe he's trying to come back from a 2nd ACL tear. For little guaranteed money, he'd be worth a shot. I have absolutely no clue what the market for him will look like though. He certainly shouldn't fear the level of competition here, that's for sure.
  10. If they trade Foles, Chip must be planning on making another move. I honestly can't imagine him rolling with the Sanchize.
  11. Not sure how this is a bombshell. He's 36 and was a complete non-factor last year.
  12. Cotchery on an end around... good lord. I'm surprised it didn't work simply due to the defense being too crippled by laughter to actually make a play.
  13. WTF did they expect? Seriously? Guy gets an offer (the "discussions" during the three day "legal tampering" period may not be official offers, but let's be real - they're offers), current team says, "Nope." Pretty clear what's gonna happen come Tuesday morning.
  14. Ginn is approximately 10,000% better than anyone currently on the roster as a punt returner. That in and of itself is extremely valuable. We didn't even have anyone on the roster last year who could be trusted to simply go out there and fair catch a damn punt. That's absolutely embarrassing for an NFL team. The fact that he can provide a deep threat in the WR corps is honestly just a bonus. If he can come in and just be 2013 Ted Ginn Jr., then this is a HUGE win for us.
  15. Why is everyone acting as if Ginn has already signed. It has only been speculated that he may have been on a plane to NC today. That's it.
  16. Just to play devil's advocate here... Player 1 Player 2 40 time: 4.87 4.77 225 reps: 21 21 Vertical: 35" 34" One of those guys is Greg Hardy, the other is Derrick Morgan. Greg Hardy's sacks in his 15 sack '13 season break down as follows: 3 vs. Giants - 13th in the league in sacks allowed 1 vs. Rams - 8th 2 vs. Bucs - 27th 1 vs. Pats - 12th 1 vs. Jets - 26th 3 vs. Saints - 10th 4 vs. Falcons - 20th This averages out to a ranking of 16.6 for Hardy's sacks which is smack in the middle of the number of NFL teams, so Hardy can't be accused of feasting on weak competition for his stats. If there is a knock on him it's that he only had 8 sacks through our 14th game. 7 of his 15 sacks came in the final two weeks of the season. The 3 against the Saints were huge as the division title was still in play at that point. The 4 against the Saints in the final week of the season were against the Falcons and they had been out of contention for weeks. Overall, I'm not gonna knock his '13 season. Yeah, the 4 sacks in the final week vs. an abysmal Falcons team was a bit of stat padding, but whatever. He had a helluva season.
  17. If Cotchery is in the plans, I hope the plan is no more than to allow him an opportunity to compete for a roster spot. Cotchery as the #4? I'm alright with that. Cotchery starting as the #2? Fug that noise.
  18. Our expectations are so low that Corey Brown is now considered a "great receiver". Good lord.
  19. What in the actual fug is Chip Kelly doing???
  20. Because that dude breaks more Panthers news than just about anyone else... while covering the Ravens. That's how bad our beat reporters suck ass.
