  1. This. When I first heard the trade, I thought it was Foles for Bradford and the Rams' 2nd rounder. I thought that was a pretty decent deal for the Eagles. But, once the full details came out? LOL! My poor buddy is a huge Eagles fan, every bit as big of an Eagles fan as I am a Panthers fan, and he texted me when the details were still murky, "The more and more that comes out about this trade the more I feel like Chip got screwed." Hours after the full details became available he texted, "I'm still stunned at badly the Rams used Chip. You guys should probably call him up. Maybe he'd give you a 3rd and 4th for Cotchery."
  2. Chip got RAPED. He gave up Foles, a 4th this year and a 2nd next year for Bradford and a conditional pick that maxes out at a 3rd rounder.
  3. When Gettleman goes car shopping... I'm just having fun with this now.
  4. Hey, I defended him with Ginn and Oher and not going after the top shelf FAs. But, this guy? Cotdamn.
  5. Dave said he was gonna be shopping at Target. Dave is actually shopping here.
  6. I'm fine with bringing him in to compete, but better be a near minimum contract.
  7. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jarrett-boykin?id=2532799 4.74 40 Overview: Boykin is an athletic receiver with a ton of size. He is a slow mover who is not taking the top off any NFL defenses, but his long strides make him look fluid in the open field running intermediate routes. He has good hands and a large catch radius to go up and get the ball. Teams needing a red-zone threat and a receiver who can snag the ball on timing routes will consider him a fifth-round talent. Strengths: Boykin is quick off the line and is good to release outside and stem his routes, but can also get back on top of a defender when running vertically. He is flexible and can drop his weight with ease to break and separate from cornerbacks. He is a good option in short and intermediate routes and a catcher who can adjust to the ball well to bring in nearly every ball thrown his way. He is physical downfield and makes his presence felt on the edge in the run game. Weaknesses: Boykin is a slow receiver who struggles to make plays happen deep. He can catch the ball from anywhere and can be an option even when covered, but will struggle to run against NFL corners and could potentially get blanketed. He is not elusive after the catch by any stretch of the imagination, though he can break arm tackles from smaller cornerbacks. Yikes. Man, you almost have to start to wonder if this is what Gettleman wants in his WRs. Rivera has spoken openly this offseason about needing more speed and this is the WR we're bringing in for a visit...
  8. Ban. I've had NFLN on in the background all day long. I don't think I've heard the Panthers so much as mentioned once.
  9. this has been you all day long: If I was this negative about sports, I'd just quit watching.
  10. The fact that we don't have a beat writer worth a damn means that there's probably a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that we fans never catch wind of. Just because the national media doesn't report something doesn't mean we didn't inquire. Who's to say Gettleman didn't reach out to Smith's agent to see what they were looking for and upon hearing, simply said, "Well then, best of luck."
  11. The only thing that really matters in an NFL contract is the guaranteed money. Agents know that. Informed players know that. Informed fans know that. If they offered $20M guaranteed and we were only willing to do say $12M guaranteed, he's signing with them, even if the overall "value" of the contracts were the same.
  12. Back to back playoff berths for the first time in franchise history and you act like we're gutting the joint like the Saints are doing.
  13. Bersin was never our #2 WR. Harvin is a locker room disaster. It'll take locker room leaders like Brady and Belichick to even have a chance of keeping that guy in check. I love Cam and (to a lesser extent) Rivera, but they don't have the type of clout around the league that Brady and Belichick have. Not even close. There's a reason why despite all his talent Harvin can't stick anywhere.
  14. Their franchise QB is 37. Our franchise QB is 25. They know they're likely to go through a bit of a rebuilding period soon, so they're probably a little more willing to take chances. We're trying to build a perennial contender for the next decade. In other words, we're trying to become what the Pats have been under Brady/Belichick while the Pats are trying to hang onto it for another season or two.
  15. Doesn't matter, made it there. Funny how the last two 7-9 teams that made the playoffs both won a playoff game.
  16. I have no idea what we're doing if we don't at least inquire.
  17. Get the preconceived notions out of your head. What we need at WR is SKILL. The fact of the matter is that whether you're talking speed WR, possession WR, whatever, we only had one starting caliber WR last year and that was KB. Cotchery was the only other WR we had who would've even made many other NFL rosters and he would've been a #4, maybe a #3 on those rosters. There's a reason why no one else wanted him. He's just done. Some of y'all are acting like all "possession receivers" are as slow as Jerricho Cotchery. That's not accurate at all. Put KB, Stevie Johnson, and Olsen out there with Ginn in the slot streaking down field to open up the underneath. Our offense would look MUCH different than it did last year.
  18. What I'm saying is that Stevie Johnson is the more proven WR. Three straight 1000 yard seasons while Buffalo's #1 target. Smith has one 1000 yard season and Flacco pretty much forgot he existed once he got an over the hill Smitty to play with. That should tell you something.
  19. People forget what a beast Stevie Johnson was in Buffalo. He's not the type of burner that Torrey Smith is, but he's a better WR. I hope we're all over him when/if his release becomes official.
  20. They tried to do the same thing with Stevie Johnson. Kaepernick's downfield accuracy sucks balls. When you're constantly scrambling for WR talent, it's probably time to look at the guy throwing the ball. We're going WR in one of the first three rounds.
  21. 49ers would've been better off paying Gore and Iupati that money. Maybe we can get Smith on the cheap in a year or two after Colin "One Read and Bolt" Kaepernick destroys his market value just like he did Stevie Johnson's.
  22. I wanted Torrey Smith, but HELL NO @ that poo!
  23. No one, but honestly, that 2nd round pick they acquired is probably more valuable in a trade than Foles was. Bradford is only signed through this season. After thinking about it, IMO this trade means that it's MORE likely that Chip plans on going all in on an effort to get Mariota.
  24. If this is true, the Saints have just thrown in the towel. Full on rebuilding mode.
