On Matt Stafford and the Carolina Panthers

You serious? You actually think Teddy is equal to Stafford? -

I don't like spamming picks like the Lions did at WR for years before finally landing Megatron. This is a strong class. There's a very good chance that there will be a very good QB not named Trevor Lawrence come out of this class. Do our homework and figure out who that is and go get him if we're not going to make a move on Watson or Stafford. That's my take. I just don't like our chances of things falling our way if we sit tight at #8 but we'll see. -

I really wish just drafting a QB was a safe solution. There are more hits than misses and at #8 we're probably looking at best at the 3rd QB off the board and quite possibly the 4th. We'll need considerable luck for it to fall our way. -

Stafford is a good QB who has been stuck in a terrible organization. I would definitely prefer Watson. He's better and he's younger but he's also going to be considerably more expensive on the trade market. Watson's market is speculated to be three #1s or the equivalent. What would Stafford's market be? Honestly, I'm torn. Not sure whether I'd rather make a deal with Stafford or take a chance in the draft. Really wish I knew where Wilson was likely to go. If we have a realistic shot at Wilson, I'd prefer that. But Wilson may be a pipe dream if we're not willing to trade up. If Detroit is definitely moving on from Stafford, you can pretty safely pencil in a QB to Detroit and they're sitting right in front of us at #7. We could be about to watch another Herbert happen. -
Charlotte Pipe and Foundry asks to rezone property

Mental gymanstics aside, actual economic analysis from actual economists have to my knowledge universally concluded it's a losing proposition for municipalities. -

There have been numerous studies looking at the economic impact of publicly funding stadiums. I'm not aware of a single one that found it to be a positive use of funds. -
Or Justin Fields for that matter.

If it's part of a package to get Deshaun Watson, fine. If not, no.

This. It's the new "think outside the box" after saying "think outside the box" was only said by people who couldn't do it.
-
We already have Teddy. We don't need to pursue other mediocre options.
-
I'm not so sure. Maybe the Jets and Dolphins are just posturing about sticking with Darnold and Tua but also maybe not.
-
That's not what I said.

I think the conversations starts with three 1sts or the equivalent. So yeah #8, next year's 1st and someone like CMC could potentially be in the ballpark.

Watson not the only big name vet at QB that we're looking at?
LinvilleGorge replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Stafford would probably be another bridge type QB, but a helluva lot better bridge than Teddy. -
Just because you get mad doesn't mean others do. I just laugh at you.

Here's a doctor explaining it: https://www.outkick.com/david-chao-md-what-i-think-happened-to-patrick-mahomes-why-he-will-be-fine-play-to-sunday/

Marty restructured his deal converting non-guaranteed salary to guaranteed bonus to create more cap room on the front end by committing more cap to the back end. It's why we're going to eat more dead money on KK's deal when we release him, likely designated as a post-June 1st cut. It's something that Marty has done time and time again with aging vets who should be on the chopping block. Once his deal is finalized in Washington, look for Landon Collins and/or Kendall Fuller to get the "Hurney restructure".
-
I don't blame KK. He gave us everything he had to give. He didn't hold a gun to anyone's head for that contract.
-
I wouldn't say that he carried them, but he was a good QB for them and a major upgrade over Brissett. They definitely wouldn't have gone to the playoffs in this year's AFC with Brissett starting.

I always begrudgingly liked Rivers. I have no love for that glorified community college that he attended (that's possibly insulting to decent community colleges), but he seems like a good dude and he was a fun player to watch.

Well, this explains the Sam Howell stance.
