  1. I don't want to give away our 2nd either. We need quality players on cheap rookie contracts. We don't need to give away the picks where we mathematically stand a solid chance of getting quality players on cheap rookie contracts to in exchange hand out massive cap eating contracts. I'm fine with having a discussion with Cincy about this to gauge the market. Doesn't hurt to talk and the media could be overblowing this whole thing and it may not be anything more than just that.
  2. Nope. But man, we can't afford to give away draft assets and cap space at the same time. One of T-Mac or Warren will be there at #8 practically guaranteed if we're hell-bent on trying to get an elite receiving target for Bryce.
  3. Trading premium draft assets to turn around and hand a massive contract to a guy who has missed a combined 10 games in the last two years is the EXACT type of move that this organization should NOT be making. I would MUCH rather just draft T-Mac at #8. He projects similarly to Higgins IMO anyway. I would prefer a pass rusher at that spot but if we're this interested in adding a potentially elite receiver then just stop this mess of trying to give away draft assets and a huge chunk of cap and draft the guy.
  4. It baffles me that so many Panthers fans act like Shaq was a continuation of the Panthers' typically having at least one excellent LB. The guy was a JAG starter that we overdrafted at our position of greatest strength at the time then paid him like the player we hoped he would be rather than the player that he was. He was basically Will Witherspoon. Solid player but not a cornerstone of your defense.
  5. Well, there is that guy that we traded up to draft in the 2nd round last year...
  6. True, but you know full well it's the guys with the injury history that this gets talked about with.
  7. All you have to do is look at his stat sheet. I'm sorry, someone with his measurables should have a lot more than 4.5 career sacks simply from being on the field. Players make plays. Workout warriors show out at the Combine and leave everyone scratching their heads why they didn't perform better and drooling over "potential". Not every athlete is a football player. Maybe the guy will be great, we'll see. All I'm saying is that drafting workout warriors in the top 10 is risky as hell.
  8. Watching him engage in an MMA fight with some random DB instead of going after the ball will be pretty comical at first but it'll get old fast.
  9. The terrifying thing about us drafting an athletic phenom that needs significant development is that it begs the question, how many of our draft picks ever actually develop? Seems like most of our guys are as good as they're going to get on the day we draft them. Hopefully this new staff can reverse that trend but it just seems like we've been drafting highly talented developmental prospects for years now and then completely fail to develop them.
  10. I really hope it works out whoever we draft but IMO Stewart's bust factor is off the charts. Checks every measurement box twice and yet completely lacks production. It's such a a massive red flag.
  11. We already made a guy with the "if healthy" distinction the highest paid DB in NFL history. How much cap and assets are we wanting to dedicate to "if healthy"?
  12. Glad he's back. Super versatile quality depth.
  13. It's the norm these days. Almost unheard of for top 10 type draft picks to participate.
  14. Nope. Top prospects not doing drills at the Combine has unfortunately become the norm. I mean, I don't blame them. There's more potential risk than potential reward but I definitely miss the days when pretty much everyone who was healthy participated.
  15. I think T-Mac is kind of the opposite. There are definite questions about his speed. If everyone thought he was a 4.4 flat guy he'd probably be a top 5 lock. Us being involved in the Metcalf trade sweepstakes tells me that if we like T-Mac he's probably very much in consideration at #8.
  16. You're not treating them the same. No one values a mid-round pick the same as a top 10 pick but the reality is that they're all unknown quantities. They've never played a down in the NFL and all you can do is try to project how they will translate to a higher level of competition. You can convince yourself otherwise all you want but that's the reality.
  17. It's the truth though. There's no such thing as a sure thing in the draft. Great prospects bust and largely overlooked prospects become diamonds in the rough every year.
  18. Solid move. You can't have All-Pros everywhere and this signing means we're not desperate at the position. That's all I'm really looking for our of FA. Don't go into the draft with obvious positions of pure desperation.
  19. Wouldn't be surprising to see him back in Philly backing up Saquan. Their #2 RB had less than 300 yards and averaged under 4ypc.
  20. How does it indicate a lack of preparation? You have your allotted time on the clock. Pulling a Gettleman and submitting your pick instantly may signal bravado and confidence but all it really means is that you didn't explore all options available.
  21. We'll find out on the field. Every year there seems to be little correlation between "winning" the off-season and winning games when the season starts.
  22. If you lose your job to Daniel Jones it's already over anyway. LOL
  23. Yeah, it's a deep RB class. Take advantage of it. There will be a number of day three RBs out of this draft class who will be solid NFL contributors.
  24. I'd say Geno simply based on the overall situations. The Seahawks look to be going full rebuild except for signing Darnold but we've seen what Darnold does on a bad team where he's forced to try to carry the load and it's UGLY. Fields to the Jets on paper just seems like a really odd match with their new OC who was the passing game coordinator under Ben Johnson in Detroit. Nothing about Fields' skill set and that type of offensive approach matches up. So by process of elimination I'm left with Geno.
  25. Unless completely mortgage the future of the franchise to trade a fortune to move up. Because that's also a thing that we do here. LOL
