  1. Sure you do. You know what those teams did? They drafted well for years. They didn't trade massive assets for non-QBs when they didn't have the QB position solved.
  2. You don't stop building but you don't part with massive roster building capital for non-QBs unless you have a QB. This isn't that hard to figure out. It's the hardest position to get right. The NFL shows you that by the way they pay them.
  3. They didn't "drop" a QB in there. They swung a huge trade for a QB. Something you can't do if you're shopping off all your draft capital every two or three years.
  4. I didn't say they were right. I said it's proof that the NFL values the QB position by far and away over every other position. It's not debatable. That's why you don't even entertain trading multiple 1sts and more for any non-QB unless you're certain you have QB solved.
  5. Agreed. And there's no value to parting with that type of haul unless you're certain that you have the most important position solved.
  6. And the NFL has told you through actual contracts that literally half the league's starting QBs are worth more than the best pass rushers or any other position for that matter.
  7. Nothing because if you don't for sure have a QB you shouldn't even be considering it.
  8. I'm good either way. If we move Thielen to free up snaps for the youngsters and get future draft capital, I get it. If we keep him to provide Bryce with a security blanket in his prove it year, I get it.
  9. Sure. You look into it. Then you find out they want two 1sts and more and he wants to be the highest paid defender in league history. Then you...
  10. We may or may not have a QB. Right now, Bryce has put a lot of bad play and some middling play on film. You're talking about a different era of football before they changed the rules of the passing game. The top 16 highest paid players are QBs. Literally half of the league's starting QBs. A good chunk of the rest are probably on rookie contract. It's the only argument I need in terms of how the league views the position. Money talks and bullshit walks and teams are telling you what is most important with their money.
  11. If any decent QB can thrive then why are the top 16 highest paid players and 17 of the top 20 all QBs?
  12. Ask them if they're worth two 1sts when you might not have a QB. Give them the full picture. Three years ago we traded two 1sts and more for a QB and we're unsure if he's the solution so should we now turn around and do the same for an elite pass rusher? I don't think you'd find anyone who would tell you that's smart roster management.
  13. The riskiest decision we could make right now is giving another massive wad of guaranteed money to an over 30 OT who is battling chronic knee issues who is still under contract this year.
  14. JJ Watt was generational and the Texans never did anything with him during his prime because they never put an offense on the other side of the ball. Talking about trading multiple 1sts and more for a pass rusher then giving him the biggest contract for a defender in NFL history when we still aren't sure we have the solution at QB is about the craziest thing I've ever heard pitched.
  15. The franchise tag is there as a last resort. There was zero reason to rush this.
  16. I fully expect us to only carry two QBs but I'd be fine with Perkins on the PS.
  17. Seriously. He was already under contract this year. Just let him play out the season and see how the knees hold up. I just don't understand why this organization is always so eager to make financial decisions that aren't pressing and need more evaluation.
  18. Sounds like it's just a matter of whether they want to give up a little more draft capital for us to eat some cap or if they want to move some numbers around to make it work on their end and give up less draft capital. I think it probably gets done.
  19. They gotta realize that once Purdy's crippling cap hits kick in they're gonna be hamstrung.
  20. I think the Niners are trying to cash in on a perceived SB window.
  21. I wouldn't trade future 1sts for any non-QB in the league given our current situation. We gotta figure out QB. Hopefully Bryce is it but we can't be parting with future 1sts until we've solved that riddle.
  22. Anyone that wants us to do anything remotely close to that has completely lost their damn mind.
  23. Tepper has been looking for this giant splash move that bypasses a rebuilding process ever since he bought the team. It's an approach that will most likely just continue to dig the hole deeper.
  24. Why is the iron hot? We still have a massive question at QB. You can't go giving away another massive haul of picks when we still don't know that we have the solution at hte most important position in the game.
