  1. I really think (maybe just hopium) that he'll be supplanted by someone we out of the NFL's garbage bin.
  2. Joe Burrow was the #1 overall pick. Sam Howell was bafflingly a 5th rounder trying to prove he deserves the nod when Wentz inevitably gets hurt. I expect Heinicke to be the #2. I expect Howell to get a shot if Wentz struggles or gets hurt for an extended period. I don't think you want to put your rookie on a position to potentially have to come in off the bench cold mid-game.
  3. Looks just like UNC football last year. Constantly something out of nothing.
  4. I said "maybe both". I wouldn't expect it to be both but I don't rule it out. What if they've decided to cut bait on TMJ and then they get a trade offer on Robby they can't refuse? We'd still have DJ, Shenault, Shi Smith, Higgins, and Zylstra (assuming Higgins and Zylstra are still in the roster, I haven't been following the cuts). Would it really be that hard to find a TMJ level replacement on the waiver wire for a 6th WR?
  5. Good. I speculated yesterday immediately after the Shenault trade that this likely signals either the end of the road for TMJ or potentially shopping Robby. Maybe both.
  6. Honestly I don't think we've ever had one. Our staffs have always seemed like we go into game day with a game plan that either works or doesn't. In-game adjustments have never seemed our forte.
  7. Not sure of his contract demands. That may have played a role in tempering his trade market.
  8. Based on his pre-draft interviews, the guy is just insanely cocky. Not difficult for me to imagine that he's pretty much uncoachable and likely doesn't put in the world because he thinks he's just too good to possibly fail. I got that vibe from both him and Paxton Lynch in the pre-draft process in recent years.
  9. At 6'1" 227# he's honestly built a lot more like a RB than a typical WR. He ran a 4.58 40 at the Combine which is pretty decent for his size but what was a bit eye opening is that he didn't do any other drills (other than the bench - 17 reps). You would've liked to have seen that 40 time paired with some decent agility numbers and leaps showing explosion. For him to show up and run a 4.58 and not do anything else kinda tells you that his straight line speed was his best measurable trait and it turned out to only be marginal.
  10. I'm not going to celebrate our newfound OL situation until I actually see us field an NFL caliber OL. Because damn, it's been awhile.
  11. Bell and Chandler were quite possibly the worst planned starting OT tandem in NFL history. No exaggeration. That's the type of OT tandem you'd expect to see after a team freakishly sustained 5 or 6 injuries at OT.
  12. Four years after you're drafted I no longer really care about your draft status. The reality is that he was a bad OL that hung around on our roster because we had a bad OL. Yeah, he wasn't an awful 6th round pick. But it's past time we moved on and I'm thrilled to get actual trade return for him.
  13. It was the standard shotgun formation of yesteryear. Hell, we ran it a lot ourselves under Shula with Olsen in the backfield.
  14. This is what I'm thinking... With DJ and Robby out wide at the 3 and the 9, Shi Smith in the slot at the 5 and CMC and Shenault split beside Baker at the 3 and 4. I'm not saying make that our base offense, but that's a formation that can creat a lot of damn matchup problems for a defense situationally.
  15. Depends on how creative McAdoo is. Shenault and CMC in the backfield together puts a lot of pressure on the LBs and safeties.
  16. Think Cordarrelle Patterson in terms of the way we'll likely use him.
  17. It took me forever to remember the guy's name, but Shenault plays similarly to Cordarrelle Patterson if you want an NFL comp.
  18. If you'd asked me what I thought we could get for any of our backup OL in a trade I would've asked you to take me to your dealer if you thought we could get ANYTHING.
  19. You gave me poo because I refused to bet you anything regarding where he'd get drafted. Never underestimate the NFL's ability to fug up draft projections. That's why there's steals and gusta every year.
  20. That's awesome. That dude is trash. Something for nothing.
  21. My top three this year were Howell, Corral, and Willis. Two outta three ain't bad.
