  1. I don't think TMJ is a near bust but I'm also not nearly certain that he's ready to be a top target. I really hope the staff sees serious untapped potential in our current guys... and that they're right about that. Because on paper we probably have the worst group of receiving targets on the league right now.
  2. We'll see. Competent coaching should help a lot but we gotta nail this upcoming pick and hope we can make up for the loss of DJ in the receiving corps.
  3. I'm a lot more concerned with his weight and frame than I am his height.
  4. I don't at all see the desperation for edge rushers. Burns and Luvu look like solid starters with Haynes and Barno as the primary rotational guys.
  5. I don't think there's anyone in this draft that checks all the boxes. Young has the size questions. Richardson and Levis have the production questions. Stroud has the system questions and dealing with pressure questions. There's no Andrew Luck or Trevor Lawrence type in this draft. But that doesn't mean there won't be an All-Pro QB. Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Hurts... they all had serious questions coming into the draft. Didn't ultimately matter.
  6. It's a weak class if you're looking for a #1 but I think there's a lot of #2s and #3s in this draft. We wouldn't be in rage at #39 to get a guy anyone is projecting as a #1 anyway. Those guys go HIGH.
  7. You're just looking at next season. Thomas can easily be cut after this coming season. Hurst can easily be cut after two seasons. A rookie could compete with Thomas for the #2 role this year and likely start competing with Hurst for #1 the following year.
  8. Agreed. There's probably 4 guys in this draft who could be the #1 TE prospect in a lot of drafts. It just feels like there could be some really good value there at #39 while WR needy teams ahead of us might leave us needing to make a significant reach at #39 to go WR. I really hope this staff sees a lot of untapped potential in our current guys. It's either that or we're gonna swing a trade or we're gonna go full Gettleman in the draft and just draft every WR we can and hope some of the mud sticks to the wall.
  9. Thomas is. His dead money is considerable but he's very cuttable after this year. This is his make or break year. If we draft a TE I think it likely signifies that Tremble is likely out
  10. I actually like the mid-rounds WR talent in this draft. I think it's a decent class that lacks elite talent at the top end. But this might be the best TE class I can recall on paper. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be pounding the table for a TE at #39 and we're gonna draft some WR that was expected to go in the 4th. Just feels like it's coming.
  11. The strength of this draft class is edge rushers and TEs. We have a huge need at TE. But we overpaid a mid-level FA. I hope it doesn't impact our draft plans but I don't know. We have a massive void at WR on paper right now. This feels like Gettleman's spamming picks at CBs draft coming up.
  12. We should but based on how FA is going I won't be surprised if we pass on some really nice opportunities with TEs to reach on a WR out of borderline desperation.
  13. God, Ewers looked completely awful in the couple of Texas games I saw this year.
  14. I think he can. That dude was a BEAST at Colorado. He had nothing at QB and the dude made circus catch after circus catch on traffic because the ball location sucked.
  15. I honestly hope so. Our lack of urgency at WR hints that we either think a lot more of our current WRs then one would think or we think a lot more of this WT draft class than most draftniks do. Maybe both.
  16. It's a good thing. As much as I'd love to know who we're targeting there's no competitive advantage to letting it be known.
  17. They're probably all going to predict all four of the top QBs to us along the way. That way they can point back to where they were right at some point after it's all said and done.
  18. I'm almost starting to think that Richardson is our target and that's why we'd consider trading down a spot or two. We'd still be thrilled with Stroud and Young but we're really tempted to take a shot on Richardson's immense talent... but we're scared of being kicked like SF was with Mac Jones. Signing an Andy Dalton means you're not forced to play him right away.
  19. MJ has been a disaster of an owner and he's going to sell to whoever offers the most $$$. If he didn't care about the Hornets' product on the court as the owner he's sure as hell not gonna start caring during the sell process. Tremendous player. The GOAT. Atrocious owner.
  20. We'll see. His potential landing spots are drying up fast. I think we're seeing that the consensus around the league is that the wear and tear is catching up with him and his best play is already behind him. It might be on Lamar to prove them wrong at this point.
  21. Tepper hasn't redeemed anything yet. We have to nail this upcoming pick. If we don't it's gonna be the same old same old, except we'll be down a bunch of draft capital and a #1 WR.
  22. There's no "laying low" in the QB market. Lamar has just badly outkicked his coverage here and he's going to be very fortunate if the Ravens don't hold his feet over the fire now. They can probably fairly offer him considerably less than their last best offer now if they want to. Lamar might legitimately be looking at his best option being playing the year out under the tag and proving he can stay healthy. He'd have an extra hundred million plus in the bank right now if he hadn't been trying to save 3%.
  23. Of course they aren't. Their coach doesn't involve the TE in the passing game. It's how we got Greg Olsen from Mike Martz's Bears. Not saying Gesicki is Greg Olsen but I'd expect a sizeable jump in his production in NE.
  24. Always buyer beware on the well ran franchises letting aging players walk. They tend to have a pretty good feel for when a guy is not gonna be worth his price tag, unlike teams like the Panthers who have historically backed up the Brinks truck for guys they should be letting walk. We've always had a bad habit of paying guys for the players that they were, not the players that they're likely to be moving forward.
