  1. I honestly don't think he did. I think we were going with an offensive minded HC no matter what. I mean, could Wilks' record honestly been expected to be any better than it was given the situation when he took over? I hope it at least aided him getting the Niners DC gig. Hopefully someone got something out of it.
  2. Yep. It's why I honestly advocated for just sticking it out with Rhule through this season. He should've been fired after last year but Tepper wanted to give his chosen one another year. Once you make that decision just stick it out to collect your harvest. Had we done that we'd still have our same current staff but we'd be drafting in the top 5.
  3. No, we couldn't expect a similar level of play. He's produces a similar level of play in FAR better situations. Put Carr in his situations and he's probably considered one of the better QBs of his generation. Put Jimmy G in Carr's situations and he's Sam Darnold.
  4. Jimmy G has played for two of the better franchises and better coaches in recent NFL memory. Carr has played for the Raiders. There's a reason why Carr will be the hottest veteran QB on the market this year and Jimmy G will be hoping for another opportunity to even compete for a starting job. FTR, if the plan is to draft a QB I wouldn't hate Jimmy G as a bridge/mentor.
  5. Well, I mean Jones sucks. "Sacrificing" him would just be a smart move.
  6. How did that work out for us in terms of wins? How has that worked out for the Giants with Barkley in terms of wins? RBs just have too short of a shelf life, are too injury prone, and there's too much bargain production at the position to justify huge resources into the position.
  7. I'll never understand the people who want to continue making the same mistakes that have made us a sub-.500 franchise. We are a losing franchise because we've spent too many resources at non-premium positions leaving too few resources to spend on premium positions. It's honestly that simple.
  8. Yes. All the way back. I'm talking the history of the franchise. We've put a ridiculous premium on RB and off the ball LB. How's that working out for us?
  9. More reason not to trade up for anyone at a non-premium position. I think there's a decent chance we draft a RB somewhere in the 3rd to 5th round range.
  10. Say you haven't been a fan for long without saying you haven't been a fan for long. LOL!
  11. I strongly disagree. A big issue with this franchise is that we have grossly overvalued relatively low value positions (RB and off the ball LBs) at the expense of premium positions. We've had a lot of good players at RB and LB but not a whole lot of wins and not a whole lot of talent at premium positions. Do the math.
  12. This. Carr is worth a discussion because he's an open market FA. Lamar is just off the board for me because Lamar would mean massive contract plus massive trade. We'd be completely hamstrung by the deal.
  13. Yes. It's past time this organization stops treating RB like an ultra-premium position. It's treated like an afterthought by most franchises for a reason. You can get legit RB production in the mid-rounds every year. Draft them, play them, let them walk, repeat.
  14. There were probably Rams fans pissed about trading for Stafford. I don't think Carr is quite on Stafford's level but I do think he's a legit QB in a similar bad situation and it won't surprise me if he has considerably more success on the W-L front elsewhere. I'd prefer draft but I wouldn't be mad about Carr.
  15. Pretty much where I'm at. I'd greatly prefer a QB via the draft. I'm just nervous about that sitting at #9.
  16. I think he's much more of a 5 year guy than a 10 year guy but I agree that he's young enough that if you acquire him for what he's going to get on the open market you need to fully commit to him.
  17. Yeah, I think Carr is young enough and you're going to have to commit enough to him contract wise that if you sign him you need to go all in on putting the best team around him that you can. I like the WR depth in this class but I don't see any elite prospects. Go Mayer at #9 then best WR in round 2.
  18. I think we're going to look into it as I'm pretty sure they realize that #9 might be too low to get the QB they might want in the draft and to trade up will prove very costly.
  19. Well, if David Newton says it isn't likely Carr is probably literally putting ink to paper with the Panthers right now. LOL!
  20. Because they have two guys on rookie contracts. One just played pretty well and the other they traded a ton to move up to draft. If I was them I'd have the same plan they likely have - go into camp and let them battle it out.
  21. He'd probably rather stay in the organization that is proven successful with the guys he already knows. I do think this OC hire has likely been delayed because we were waiting on someone who was on a SB staff. Only thing that really makes sense IMO. If it was Johnson, we're almost certainly going to be off to chase whatever option B is.
  22. I really like this WR class overall, but yeah I'm not seeing any slam dunk elite prospects. But I think it's deep with quality players.
  23. This would be my preference but I think Carr is going to interview with teams and make sure someone is going to commit to him. If you signed him then drafted a QB in the 1st I think he'd go ballistic because you will have flat out lied to him.
  24. The state of the division makes Carr more appealing to me. If we were in the AFC I'd be against it. But the NFC is overall significantly weaker. We can make a run in the NFC with Derek Carr, a good overall off-season, and legit coaching. Just my opinion
