  1. You know a guy is a freak when he has that severe of an injury and STILL goes in the 1st round.
  2. Sure they will. If you're willing to make an idiotically high offer. That's pretty much what they're signalling with that. Don't even call us if you're an NFC team and you're not gonna blow us away with your offer.
  3. I'm not opposed to trading up for a QB, I'm just not completely sold on it for Young or Stroud. If our staff is then go for it. It's their jobs on the line not mine.
  4. Who is "everyone else" though? Nick Mullens? CJ Beathard? Yeah, those dudes suck. Jimmy G is considerably better than those guys. And yeah, so far Trey Lance honestly looks like a bust. Jimmy G is one of those good backup/marginal starter type guys who can look serviceable in a good system with good surrounding talent. Put him in the Raiders and watch what happens though. Hell, with Josh McDaniels there we might actually see that. I hope we do because it'll be hilarious.
  5. Okay, do the deal. Then you're going to be in here screaming about how we have failed to build a team around Lamar. Well, no poo. We don't have any assets left to build with.
  6. Lamar is a helluva talent but given his injury history, the contract he's going to demand, and the trade value a team is going to have to give up to acquire him I guess I wouldn't mind seeing him playing for a division rival. I think the team that makes this move is likely going to be hamstrung. No team in this division is a Niners or Rams type situation with a stacked up roster just needing a QB.
  7. The roughest injury I ever saw on live television was Willis McGahee's knee in college. I was in college and a bunch of us were watching that game and I saw it and just started screaming. Like everybody y'all gotta watch this poo and now because they're only gonna show this replay once when they realize how ugly this is. I still can't believe he made a successful recovery from that. I guess Marcus Lattimore's injury at South Carolina looked similarly and that one ended him.
  8. It kinda surprises me that owners aren't pushing for the change. They can't like seeing their most valuable and usually highest paid position on the team sandwiched in a melee but as long as it's legal coaches are going to do it because it's unstoppable.
  9. They gotta change that poo. A QB sneak is completely unstoppable getting a yard or less now. Maybe when teams just start completely selling out and lining up an OL behind the QB for the push the NFL will finally put a stop to the ridiculousness. It's just a fuging rugby scrum.
  10. Alabama probably has the closest thing to an NFL strength and conditioning program outside of the NFL. Brees was 213 at the Combine.
  11. Deal. Might be a tough comparison though. I'm not at all sure Jimmy G will actually be starting.
  12. I'm significantly more concerned about his slight frame than I am his height. We've seen QBs of similar height have a lot of success. I mean, we all watched Drew Brees. I'm more concerned about him holding up long-term to NFL hits.
  13. How often do we even see QBs line up under center these days? If you see a QB under center it's probably a QB sneak.
  14. I definitely think Lamar is better. I also know that Lamar will require a massive contract and a massive trade package to acquire. It would be the type of deal that would greatly hamper our ability to otherwise improve our roster. That's why I'm willing to consider Carr but not Lamar. If they were both FAs I'd definitely rather have Lamar.
  15. Unless there's no plans to trade him and the plan is to trade out of #1. If teams think there's a real chance the Bears stick at #1 to take a QB it potentially helps maximize the value of that pick. They can always pull Fields aside and tell him, "Look, we are NOT trading you. But we're definitely going to listen to offers for the #1 overall pick so we're gonna play some games to try to maximize those offers. Don't listen to any rumors you hear. You're gonna be a Bear for a long time."
  16. No, Bijan is better. But I'd rather have Bigsby in the 3rd vs. Bijan in the 1st.
  17. You think Jimmy G is the superior QB? Okay. We'll see what their markets bear out.

This is exactly what he needs. He needs to go to a team running a spread offense, ideally employing a lot of option routes. Just give him the room to work and play off the looks the D gives him. That's when he's at his best. I honestly think his draft value is going to vary significantly from team to team based on their offensive systems. In the right system, he's a very intriguing prospect. But if you're not running that type of system he's a lot harder of a prospect to try to translate IMO. Downs is one to watch for us if we sign Derek Carr. IMO, Downs is a potentially better version of Hunter Renfrow.
  19. The guy can play. The Raiders just suck. If we land him I hope he has a Stafford-esque rebound. If the Saints land him I hope he's Russell Wilson in Denver 2.0. LOL!
  20. I honestly don't know. I just know that every time I've watched him it's felt like I'm watching a pretty damn good QB in a poo situation.

    WRs

Everyone here knows I'm a huge UNC fan. Here are my concerns with Downs in terms of translating to the NFL: 1. He's going to be viewed as a slot only in the NFL. That really hurts his value. He did the majority of his damage in college in the slot. 2. Slight frame and injury prone. He didn't miss many games in college but he was often being hindered by nagging injuries. Hopefully that doesn't follow him to the NFL but it bears consideration. 3. Propensity to give up yards to try to gain yards. He'll run backwards after the catch quite often to try to gain space to make a move to beat guys to pickup YAC. It worked out more often than not at the college level but it may be a habit he'll need to break in the NFL. 4. Virtually no reps against press coverage. Everyone at the college level was afraid of getting beat deep in large part because Downs played with excellent deep ball throwing QBs so very few teams got up in his face and tried to press him. Given his small size I don't know how well he'd deal with it. I think he has the makings of a potentially very good NFL slot WR, but those guys generally max out at 2nd round value and are often to be had in the 3rd. That's why the potential 1st round talk kinda baffles me. He'd need some really jaw dropping workout measurables to make that happen IMO.
  22. Say what? Bigsby played for Auburn. Meanwhile, three of the top 13 rushing defenses were in the ACC. UGA was #1 but you have to get to #21 to find the next SEC team in Tennessee.
  23. This is one where I would definitely trust our coaches to make the evaluation. There's ample film of Fields in the NFL, albeit without much help around him. If they like him better than any QB at #9 then be my guest.
