  1. Yes. He was first team All-State before he ever moved in with them. He was a five star recruit and the #5 OL recruit in the nation. Yeah, everyone knew this kid was ELITE. His HS coach who lobbied the school to get him in just so happen to get a job on the Ole Miss coaching staff. There were a lot of folks riding on this kid's coattails.
  2. A speed bump would've been better out there on Saturday.
  3. Yeah, it just looks really bad in hindsight how the movie basically vilified and made a mockery of the efforts made to investigate the situation when if these allegations are true then what they were attempting to investigate was exactly what was going on. Basically just exploiting a kid in an awful situation who just so happened to have elite athletic talent. Again, if true then they almost certainly wouldn't have given the kid a second glance if there wasn't something there for them to exploit. That's just sad. Not to mention that here it was supposed to be about the story of Michael Oher when in reality the movie was about a white knight lady and Michael Oher was just a supporting character.
  4. Sucks to hear but I'd be lying if I said that I was surprised. I don't think I've ever defended the NCAA and likely never will again, but in this case they were right. They knew there was fugery afoot in this case they just couldn't prove it.
  5. I hope so. But ever camp and preseason I watch Panthers fans convince themselves everything will be fine like we have an organizational history rivaling the Steelers or Patriots. Those fanbases I get the sentiment. They have valid reason to believe it. Ours? It has a bit of a delusional feel IMO.
  6. The score doesn't matter. Your starting OL and starting defense parting like the Red Sea on every snap is concerning though. That's all.
  7. All I look for in preseason is some sense of competency. I don't care about the score. But our first preseason game didn't show much if any competency. Is it no big deal or a sign of things to come? No clue. We'll find out soon enough I suppose.
  8. Not really concerned about our strength of schedule, strength of division, or NFC, or anything else. Just want to see improvement from the Panthers. Because that team we saw yesterday isn't beating anyone. It's easy to say "Oh, it's the preseason. It doesn't matter." But it's another thing when you watched a good chunk of the games in week one and we were the worst team I saw by a significant margin.
  9. He took two hard hits and got back up. That's not nothing.
  10. The defensive starters didn't play long and looked well on their way to giving up a long TD drive before the Jets got a 15 yards penalty that put them behind the sticks.
  11. We just plain sucked yesterday. No two ways about it. I'm over it. Thank goodness the game doesn't count. Now let's see some improvement.
  12. This. We EARNED that #1 pick we spent on Cam. We completely sucked. We were the worst team in the league. We traded up from #9 to get Bryce at #1 and we played much better in the 2nd half of the season after firing Rhule. Some folks around here had unrealistic expectations talking about being the favorites to win the division, etc. But I honestly don't think it was unreasonable to expect this to be a middle of the pack team that could at least be in a position to have a shot at competing for a playoff berth. At least good enough not to repeat the time honored Huddle tradition of shifting to primarily talking about the draft by Halloween. No way to sugarcoat it. Yesterday was seriously disappointing. Does it matter? Was it a harbinger if things to come? We'll have to wait and see. But it was definitely a splash of cold water on enthusiasm.
  13. I mean... Eagles fans are gonna be there. Gotta cover your bases.
  14. The Ravens have won 24 straight preseason games. They haven't won any championships during that six year timeframe but they have made four playoff appearances, had four 10+ win seasons, and only one losing season. Prior to that preseason winning stretch they'd only gone to the playoffs once in the past five years and had missed the playoffs for three straight seasons. Don't tell them that the preseason doesn't matter.
  15. I'm surprised. Stetson Bennett looks like he belongs. He looks small and he's taking lots of chances. He's gonna have to learn when to roll the dice and when to just live to play another down in the NFL, but he looks fast out there and his arm looks live. Not sure he'll be a starter but he might play a long time in the NFL.
  16. That's what I'm saying though. He's made plenty of money. He ain't no beggar. A lot of guys get to the point that it's not that no one will sign them it's just that no one will pay them the money they're willing to continue to play for or sign them for the role that they want.
  17. Given the money he's made in his career I don't know if he'd be interested in a low dollar contract but I'd call and ask.
  18. Losses don't me either. But looking inept is a hard pill to swallow whether it's practice, preseason, or games that actually count.
  19. Not gonna lie. He and Moton gave me flashbacks to Bell and Chandler tonight.
  20. He seemed poised and never panicked. Made good reads and threw a decent ball the couple of times he got any time at all. You can put an MVP behind an atrocious OL and it won't look good.
  21. Before the game But then the game started and
  22. Impressed? I'm struggling to name anyone who consistently impressed. Sucked? Definitely the entire OL. Matt Corral. Most of the front 7 on D.
  23. You're gonna have to speak up. He can't hear you over the whirring of the cash counting machines running in the background.
