  1. Mingo definitely looked bad last year. Bryce definitely looked bad last year. Just gonna have to hope they both have a significant rookie to second year leap and do better under different coaching. I think Mingo has the athletic talent to do it. My concern is that Bryce may not.
  2. I think we have enough of a talent deficit I'd still rather have two top 40 at bats. Lord knows Panthers fans should understand by now that there's no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to draft picks. Trading 33 and 39 for a potential disappointment in the mid-teens is a dick punch this team can I'll afford to risk.
  3. I don't think you can afford to have a crush when there's gonna be 32 guys go ahead of you. Wel could package #33 and #39 to move up but I'd prefer we didn't. We need bodies, not just one guy. I'd rather have two top 40 guys than one top 15ish guy given our situation. 33+39 = roughly #14.
  4. Schools oftentimes fudge measurements. Not a big deal. Whatever a school lists a guy's 40 time at, you can very safely add at least a full tenth to it and then maybe you'll be in the ballpark.
  5. We all owe them a tremendous thanks for jumping on that grenade for us. We only avoided that massive error because they outbid us. As bad as the Bryce trade looks right now at least it didn't also cap strap us.
  6. UVA is a stunningly awful offensive team. 14 points at halftime. FOURTEEN. They have 35 with 5:34 to play. They're down 20. In a game like this, down 20 feels more like down 35.
  7. Then contact Dave Tepper. 40 ticketed events with virtually all of them crammed into the NFL off-season is gonna put a LOT of wear and tear on a grass field.
  8. 40 ticketed events. Turf facilitates that.
  9. Nothing baffling about it. It's all about the $$$
  10. RJ Davis 1st Team All-American. Well deserved.
  11. He's 6'7". Centers are usually the shortest guy on the OL.
  12. I remember watching him at the Combine because I was watching OTs carefully given our need. The guy looks like a fish out of water. Like a guy with two left feet. I don't think he'd ever actually ran any of those drills before. He hadn't prepared a bit for the biggest job interview he'd ever have in his life. I couldn't believe it when the reports started trickling out that Hurney really liked him. Like... WHAT???
  13. I mean, Icky was trash last year. It wouldn't take much.
  14. I like bringing in food depth and potentially someone to push Icky if he doesn't put in the work this off-season.
  15. Glad we didn't give him that. We signed a decent vet and a stop gap rotational guy. Sign another rotational guy then head to the draft.
  16. I agree. But it's not the past yet. We're still in this poo right now. We won't be out until Bryce sinks or swims.
  17. Having #39 as well gives us some leeway. If there's several players we have rated similarly and there are really good offers coming in I'd move the pick.
  18. What's also in the past though? DJ Moore's tenure as a Panthers and the opportunity cost of the picks we gave up to get to #1 and who we passed on to take Bryce. This is shaping up to be the most disastrous move in franchise history.
  19. What if you traded a boatload of assets to get the bad one? We're basically left hoping our guy can get to mediocrity.
  20. You definitely really see it wear on a unit when the unit on the other side of the ball simply can't hold up their end of the bargain. Whether it's a defense carrying an offense or vice versa. Eventually the carrying unit is just like... "Damn, no matter what we do these clowns on the other side of the ball are gonna find a way to fuging lose the game."
  21. The bad QB route? Agreed. Sam Darnold was beyond terrible. And we traded real assets to get him.
  22. Nobody is saying that. Meanwhile, they get traded for peanuts while both have shown more promise than the guy we've mortgaged the franchise on. That's them hard to swallow pills.
  23. They're terrified to have even a hint of competition. Which is wild. Bryce went to Alabama. Trust and believe that Nick Saban was signing the best QBs he could get to put pen to paper every single year. If you're starting somewhere like Alabama or Georgia or OSU, etc. you came out of a pressure cooker. Oh, I'm a 4* or 5* recruit. STFU, practically everybody here is. You wouldn't be here if you weren't. Be the best or ride the pine. We're treating this guy with kid gloves when you can get your bottom dollar he never was at Alabama.
  24. Probably. I think Purdy is a step up from Bryce and Tua another step up from Purdy but I think they're all in that category of QB that you're hamstringing yourself when you have to pay them like a legit franchise QB.
  25. Wouldn't surprise me if Howell and Fields both don't end up starting this year.
