Official Trade Deadline & Speculation Thread
LinvilleGorge replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
No one is bailing us out on those Sanders and Hurst gaffs. Why would anyone want guys who have lost their starting jobs to afterthoughts after they were brought in and paid to be dudes? -
Burrow is a fuging baller. I kinda thought maybe he might be just a product of a system and surrounding talent but then I tuned into watch him play against the best D this side of the NFL in the college national championship game and on his very first snap he did this https://x.com/espn/status/1216895499158138880?s=20 I was like, yeah... gimme that guy.

I've been saying for weeks now they need to just cancel Rivera and give Bieniemy a test drive. He has to quit his bad habit of completely abandoning the run. His OL sucks at pass protection and Howell is getting beat to poo. The kid is tougher than a $2 steak but damn... at some point the body will break. OL play across the league pretty much sucks so I don't see anyone trading viable offensive linemen. You have a handful of good offensive lines and the rest of the league is varying levels of suck. -

If they trade them both that D is going to get straight LIT UP. They're already bad and the only thing keeping them from being utterly atrocious is that pair of edge rushers. -

Really surprised. I mean, Washington was gonna have to choose between him and Young in terms of who to pay but surprised Ron would be willing to trade him when he seems on the hot seat big time and his D is playing like straight trash. That secondary is getting shredded already and their pass rush is the only thing giving them a fighting chance. -

He has more talent for sure but he'd do what he does. Look good for a couple of three games then turn into a turnover machine once the league gets film of him operating in that system. It's been the story of his career. -

Purdy is maxed out. They had a window and they still have a window but Purdy ain't it. -
Burns draft classmate (edge rusher) inks new deal

If he keeps getting injured we have to move on. It sucks but he has to prove he can be available. -
From his NFL.com draft profile: Sources Tell Us "He's a grown man out there. No, he is literally a grown man. I love watching him play but he's 24 now so I think he's maxed out. He is who he's going to be physically so now we have to see how much better he gets as a football player." -- NFC Player Personnel Executive

I hated that signing in particular. Hurst is a former 1st round disappointment who has bounced around the league never sticking anywhere for a reason. Paying him like we did was just baffling. I liked the Sanders signing... until talking to my Eagles fan buddy about him. I thought signing a good RB would help take the pressure off our rookie QB. But my buddy told me that Sanders had poo for vision as a runner and his production was completely a product of the Eagles' OL and offensive system. The dude knows ball. I had hoped it was just sour grapes. Nope. He was spot on. Sanders sucks and Philly is still a very good rushing offense.

This off-season we signed the highest paid TE and RB in free agency. Not even halfway through the season, they've both been complete nonfactors and seem to have been replaced in the starting lineup by guys who were already on the roster and afterthoughts. We had already deemed those guys not good enough and now we're having to admit that while they might not be good enough, they're still better than this guy that we WAY overpaid. Nearly $50M in total contracts between Hurst and Sanders and they can't start for a 1-6 team near the bottom of the league in most offensive categories. Well done, Fitts.

Oh well. A nice pass play. A decent run. Then that's all they had in the tank.

That's something. More of this. I just wanna be entertained damnit.
