  1. If I'm interviewing for this gig I'm not taking it if I'm married to Bryce. Like look, I get it based on the investment already made and lack of immediate draft resources we need to try to put the best team we can around Bryce and give it a go next year. But it absolutely needs to be an evaluation year on whether or not we need to be back in the QB market again in '25. If Tepper balks at that or seems at all hesitant I'm out.
  2. Sounds like a likely Gator Bowl bid for UNC. Probably vs. Tennessee. Mack Brown will brag about how good 8-4 and a Gator Bowl appearance is for this program while ignoring that all of his teams have face planted in the second half of the season. It's not okay to be a better team at the beginning of the season than you are at the end of the season year after year after year. It's gonna happen occasionally but it can't be the norm. Drake Maye needs to be done. He's done enough for this program turning down mid-seven figure NIL deals from blue blood powerhouses to come back to Chapel Hill for this poo.
  3. Yeah, it's not gonna be a fair fight. No one at Oregon gives a fug about playing Liberty but for Liberty this is a game they'll be telling their grandkids about. This bowl draw is a massive letdown for Oregon after being a playoff contender with a Heisman hopeful QB.
  4. This. We're all in on Bryce for at least another year and that's going to significantly impact our head coaching search.
  5. That game is gonna be interesting. One one hand, I could see all the draftable kids sitting out because why not? We feel like we should be in the playoffs but we're not so fug it. On the other hand, I could see a bunch of them wanting to give one last giant middle finger to the committee by dominating the biggest bowl game match up not associated with the playoffs. If I had a kid on one of those teams probably getting kicked in the top 3 rounds, I'd be telling him to sit. The middle finger ain't worth the financial risk. If they want you to play tell them to go find a poo ton of NIL money for you to make it worth it.
  6. Here's the reality that people don't want to admit. All the P5 conferences are roughly equal as a whole. It really comes down to who has the best cream of the crop. The also rans are roughly equal. The SEC also rans just get a big artificial boost via conference affiliation.
  7. You wanna know who really got fuged? James Madison. What a dumbass rule that a team moving from D1AA to D1 (whatever the fug they call those divisions these days) is ineligible for a bowl in year one. You're already at a significant disadvantage making a major leap up in competition. If you earn bowl eligibility you should go, period. Now they've lost their coach to a P5 team. Who knows where they'll go now but they absolutely should be going to a decent bowl THIS year.
  8. Yep. They didn't want that embarrassment happening again.
  9. What we do know though is the Bama gets to play by their own set of qualifications. Every time there's a controversy, Bama goes as a bubble team.
  10. Hell, Alabama went to the playoffs a few years ago when they didn't even qualify for the SEC championship game - not to mention the several times ND has gone despite not being in a conference to even be able to appear in a conference championship game - so we've pretty much already established that the conference championship games don't matter.
  11. TCU somehow beat Michigan in the semifinals and then took one of the all-time ass whooping s in the championship game when UGA skull drug them 65-7.
  12. The rest of the bowls have just ceased to matter if we're being honest. Most of the draftable draft eligible kids are sitting them out.
  13. Honest, IMO the top 4 should've been Michigan, UGA, Texas, and Washington. Those are the four best teams IMO.
  14. Hell, I wish they'd had the balls to put UGA in over Bama despite the SEC championship game when UGA had multiple offensive stars banged up. I mean, Bama needed a hail Mary to beat Auburn last week who was coming off an absolute ass whooping to powerhouse New Mexico State. UGA is the better team despite last night's results. So if we're doing the whole "best teams" thing let's do it full bore.
  15. The last NASCAR race I went to, Davey Allison and Dale Earnhardt finished top 3 in Rockingham. I was probably like 10. It was wonderful. I loved Davey and hated Dale and they battled it out at the top of the pack all day. The place went wild when Davey would pass Dale, even in NC.
  16. NASCAR died to me when Davey Allison crashed that helicopter in Talladega. They turned it into IROC trying to make every car the exact same. It just got boring.
  17. The SEC as a whole is largely a myth. It's very too heavy. Yeah, the top SEC teams are damn good but the rest? They're honestly no better than the other conferences. They get an artificial boost because of their conference affiliation. Just look at the SEC-ACC head to head record this year. Everyone claims the SEC is so much better but the record doesn't bear it out.
  18. This is where they truly screwed up. Once they made the decision to expand the playoffs why kick the can down the road? If there's a 12 team playoff this year problem solved. All the teams legit deserving would be there and there would be some bubble teams on the edge of the 12 howling but let's be real, the teams on the bubble of 12 don't have a legit shot anyway.
  19. I don't know how people can care about the regular seasons in NBA and MLB. People bitch about NBA players slacking and taking games off but when you look at the number of games they play and their travel schedules, you have to. You can't go hard every single night for 82 games (you're talking about potentially triple digits for teams in the Finals) with all that travel. People say well I could for all that money but I'm sorry, money doesn't overcome biology. When you're exhausted and beat up you're still exhausted and beat up, you just have a lot of money in the bank to show for it.
  20. I pretty much stopped watching the NBA about 20 years ago but those Larry Johnson/Alonzo Mourning teams were fun to watch. Once it morphed into being a no defense three point shooting contest league it just wasn't interesting anymore IMO.
  21. Is this gonna spur the death of the ACC? I wouldn't be shocked. After having the first undefeated P5 conference champ left out of the playoffs, I could see FSU and Clemson really wanting to GTFO. Clemson knew during all their playoff runs that they had zero margin for error. Other teams in other conferences might be able to get in with a loss but not an ACC team. Now their undefeated conference champ gets left out. The football powers are gonna want to GTFO and I don't blame them. Adding Cal and Stanford? Yeah, that's gonna help. Maybe Cal and Stanford of a decade ago but not the current versions. All it does is further water down the conference and make for some nightmarish travel schedules. Cal and Stanford are fuged. They're gonna be at a significant disadvantage in every conference road game traveling east giving up three hours in the time change. The NFL sees a significant statistical disadvantage for west coast teams traveling east.
  22. The committee was fuged when FSU and Bama won. No matter what they did there was gonna be a couple of teams howling and being very justified in their howling. I 100% understand why people are howling for FSU. But I'm not gonna lie, as someone with no dog in the fight just wanting to see some of the best teams in the land duke it out for the title, I had no interest in seeing FSU there. When Walker went down so did their legit chances. Did they earn the right to be there? Yeah, they did. But is the team they're currently fielding jne of the top four teams in the country? Not a chance.
  23. Yeah, all few dozen of us left sure as hell hate Tepper. Whoever said that Tepper turned the Panthers into the Hornets was spot on.
  24. The Commanders may have broken Howell. Even through all the struggles his last year at UNC I never saw his body language look defeated. He's defeated now.
