Jonathan Jones thinks Deshaun to Carolina could happen.
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, I hope the plan isn't relying on drafting a Russell Wilson in the 3rd, because good luck duplicating that one. -

If a trade for Watson works out, great. If we land a QB at #8 or a trade up, great. If we do neither, that's when I'll start the teeth gnashing. -

This is why the Dolphins passed on Drew Brees. I'm sure they're not nearly as smug in hindsight. -
2019 1st round draft regrade (we did good)

How'd it go after Burns though? Typical Hurney draft. Impact 1st rounder followed by hot steaming trash. -
Me too. If we're out of the mix and I'm watching as a pure casual observer, I wanna see the best players on the game out there. Ultimately, I wanna see Mahomes and Rodgers duke it out in the SB.

Average stay in the protocol is 19 days and you rarely see an NFL player getting up wobbling like a fighter that just got KO'd .

Gotta give credit where credit is due, when @Zod goes all in on something, he goes ALL IN. -
People really need to stop with this narrative that Teddy would be a part of the deal. These other NFL teams saw him play too. God pity that PR person. Yeah, I know we traded Deshaun Watson, but allow me to introduce... TEDDY BRIDGEWATER!!!!

Washington Football Team finalizing deal with Marty Hurney
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
CBs have never been more important than they are now with the game getting more and more pass happy and coverage skills being more highly sought after due to rule changes to benefit passing offense. The old style of defense that de-emphasized CBs by roughing up WRs if you couldn't hang with them just isn't an option anymore. The Ricky Manning Jr's of the world don't make it in the NFL these days. -

Having Marty Hurney rave about a 1st round grade on a 2nd round pick is the kiss of death. Having him trade up in the 2nd for that "1st round talent" is the nail in the coffin. Greg Little never had a chance. He had way too much jinx on him to overcome. -

They might. Or they could hang onto him for another year then trade him after that. It won't shock me if ATL goes QB and it won't shock me if they go another route and try to give it one more go with Ryan. But their cap situation and new staff honestly makes me think that QB is more likely than not. It's gonna be hard to build the type of roster they need to build to make one last push with Ryan given their cap constraints. -

That was his problem in the draft. Everything was hit or miss. We couldn't build an overall roster because there was no roster filler available. Those good backup types and serviceable starter types that other teams typically find in the mid to late rounds. He always swung for the fences and when you do that you're going to strike out and hit a lot more pop flies than home runs. -

Cam had rotator cuff issues. Wilson had a labrum tear. They're not at all similar. -

This is the type of 1980s thought process that I hope are barely visible in the Panthers' rearview mirror. -

Missing on literally everything else other than 1st round picks clearly sets us back for years too. -

We were always a Jekyll and Hyde organization. Capable of brief glimpses of greatness but also capable of atrociousness spurred on by idiotic decisions. The Bills and WFT are going to let us see both side of that bipolar former organization play itself out. -

I'm 50/50 on this. Half of me says I can't believe Ron is this damn stupid and committed to staying within his comfort zone of familiarity. The other half of me says how could I be so stupid not to completely see this coming. Ron gonna Ron.
