  1. Not sure why they'd be laughing. See above. They drafted Manziel with that pick. It'd be kind of like the Pats laughing at us for trading the future #33 overall pick to them for one Armanti Edwards. It's funny until you remember that they took Ras-I Dowling with that pick, a guy who was a huge bust and only appeared in 12 NFL games. Hell, if anything, we actually won that trade as sad as that may be.
  2. It'd make a lot of sense for the Eagles. Wouldn't make a lick of sense for the Saints.
  3. THIS! I think they really fuged up completely handing him the reins. He needs to be protected from himself by a real GM.
  4. Not only can he, but I think DGB will be there at #25 and we will pass on him. I wouldn't want him in the 1st or 2nd round to be honest. Just too many concerns. He won't be there in the 3rd, but that's where I would start to get intrigued about potentially rolling the dice. The reality is that with the domestic violence concern there, JR likely wouldn't sign off on drafting the guy at all.
  5. Given who was available in FA and our budget, I think we did about the best we could "filling" that need via FA. I'd still be giving Jake Long's agent a call to see if he's healthy and wants to give it another go.
  6. If there's one thing following the NFL should've taught all of us, it's that you can't believe anything that comes out of the mouth of a GM or coach, especially this time of year. What's he supposed to say? "Yeah, we know this guy sucks ass, but we signed him anyway because we're desperate." IMO, they think Oher CAN be the answer at LT and that's why they signed him. Notice the word choice: "CAN". Big difference between can and "IS". If the right guy is there at #25 or in the 2nd round or in the 3rd round, I have no doubt we'll pull the trigger.
  7. I hope so. I was fully onboard with the signing. Worst case scenario, I still think he's better than Bell and simply "better than Bell" wasn't the type of improvement I was hoping for, but it is improvement.
  8. For those that are nervous about Oher, just take a look into your memory banks and remember that we survived an entire year with Byron Bell as our LT, or should I say Cam survived
  9. Strong foreshadowing. Yep, unfortunately Jaelen Strong to SD at #17.
  10. He's not buying low though. He traded a young, healthy QB who has put up good numbers in his system plus valuable picks for an injury plagued QB. He traded one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL in McCoy for a MLB coming off of a torn ACL. That's not buying low.
  11. Eagles are gonna sign every injury plagued player in the league. Traded for a MLB coming off a torn ACL. Traded for a QB coming off of a 2nd torn ACL and every other injury under the sun, signing a RB who is seemingly never healthy. Their IR list is gonna be impressive this year.
  12. I think it'll ultimately come down to simply whether or not Long wants to keep playing because the only type of deal I see him getting is a prove it type deal. I can't see anyone offering him significant guaranteed money unless one of these teams that has to spend to get to the cap floor rolls the dice offers him a front loaded deal that allows them to bring him in and spend the money they have to spend this year while not tying themselves up with long-term cap implications.
  13. I get that. The only way I'd be for it would be a deal structured in a manner that would let us walk away with minimal risk if it didn't work out. If the deal had to involve significant guaranteed money, I'd pass.
  14. Right now our "issue" is that Cam and his agent want to wait for Luck's and Wilson's deals to be done to set the market. We put ourselves in that situation by not getting his deal done sooner.
  15. But that's what I'm saying, what's the downside? If he can't play, we release him with minimal cap damage. I don't think you sign him and then sit back and say that all of our OT concerns are solved, let's scratch that completely off the board. If he can, great. We get a serviceable plug and play LT on the cheap and Oher and Remmers battle it out for RT. You still absolutely look to add a young stud in the draft if the opportunity is there.
  16. Chip Kelly looking pretty uncomfortable at his presser right now. Talking about trading McCoy for Kiko pointing out that they had two guys coming off of injury at the LB position completely ignoring the fact that Kiko is coming off of a torn ACL himself.
  17. How in the world do you define low risk then? If signing a 29 year old former All-Pro LT with injury concerns to a team friendly prove it type deal isn't low risk, then what is?
  18. Spoken like a true terrible "fan". The type of "fan" who would rather his debbie downer attitudes be supported and the team suffer, rather than a real fan who would rather be proven wrong and see the team succeed.
  19. How is it not low risk? The injuries are irrelevant if there's little guaranteed money. If he can't play, we're right back to where we were before. If he can play and plays well, big win. Hence low risk, high reward. I don't think we pass on an OT that we like early in the draft because we have the likes of Long and Oher on the roster if that's what you're worried about.
  20. The only way we land a 29 year old former All-Pro LT is if he comes with some issues. I would imagine any contract we'd extend to him would feature minimal guaranteed money and likely heavily laden with incentives. That's why I say it's low risk, potential high reward.
  21. If he can pass a physical and still wants to play, I agree. Low risk, high potential reward.
  22. This. For most teams, their bottom of the roster guys contribute on special teams. Last year, we had a bunch of bottom of the roster type WRs who didn't contribute on special teams - I'm talking about Cotchery, Avant, Bersin, and Brown. Those are #4 type WRs at best. That isn't acceptable. Look at Boykin not as a potential #2, but perhaps a potential replacement for a guy like Bersin.
  23. I'm just waiting for people to realize that we're less than 24 hours into free agency and there's still an entire NFL draft that lies ahead.
  24. Am I living in some twilight zone? I completely understand why the Lions didn't want to pay Suh as if he's an elite QB, but is the NFLN really trying to sell people on the idea that a 31 year old Haloti Ngata coming off of a season in which he was suspended for a banned substance is equal to or perhaps even superior to Suh on the field? Dafuq? Suh averages 7 sacks per season. Ngata averages under 3. Suh averages 36 tackles per season. Ngata averages 31. Ngata is a space eater for the Lions if he isn't washed up, but he's nowhere near the disruptive force that Suh is.
