Carolina Panthers 1st round draft mini breakdown
LinvilleGorge replied to Verge's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
On the surface, yeah that's concerning. But honestly I'm not familiar enough with their offense to comment beyond that. For all I know, they like to counter pressure like Shula did with with extra blockers and deep routes. They did quite a bit of that against Clemson. -

Every QB worth drafting is cocky as poo. If you want a guy who can carry your offense, you better get you a cocky guy. -

Oh, he's definitely getting scouts' attention. I'm sure every team on the hunt for a QB in this draft is doing homework on Mac Jones. Scouts go a LOT deeper down the list than the media does. That's why virtually every year there are some guys drafted fairly high that have even us football nerds being like... -

Brady has three upcoming HC interviews. He may not be part of this evaluation process and our offense could potentially look different next year. -

I really, REALLY like Wilson but the one year wonder thing combined with the injury issues (that likely heavily contributed to him being a one year wonder) definitely cause me some serious pause. -

I still haven't watched enough of Lance to develop any firm opinion of where I'd rank him. -

Those deep balls definitely weren't as well placed as some. Notably my man crush Sam Howell's. That dude legit throws as good of a deep ball as any QB I've ever seen. -

Specifically what are your reservations with Fields? For me it's consistency. It seems like when he's fully in, he's as good or better than anyone but it also seems to me like there's too many games where he just shows up and goes through the motions. But watching him shred Venables and that Clemson D... I mean fug... I think the world of Venables. Honestly there aren't a ton of NFL DCs I'd take over him. -
Running 4.6s wouldn't hurt him a bit.
-
Cam ran 4.59 at the Combine. I hope Lance runs. If he can legitimately run a 4.6 flat like they claim, he'll run. I don't think he can. I'm betting he'll have a "tight hamstring" or something at the Combine and throw but not participate in speed and agility drills
-
He's 30 pounds lighter than Cam. Anyone expecting him to run faster than Cam's 4.59 is gonna be disappointed. I think most scouts would probably be quite pleasantly surprised if he ran that fast.

Trey Lance is a redshirt sophomore. He's not going to the Senior Bowl.

Good. I especially like his non-apology apology. I'm not sorry for what I did, I'm just sorry you found out about it and got pissed off. "I recognize that my decision has disappointed many who believe it would have been better to spend Thanksgiving alone," Hancock said in a statement released by his office. "As a public official, whose conduct is rightly scrutinized for the message it sends to others, I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel. I made my decision as a husband and father, and for those who are angry and disappointed, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions that are borne of my heart and not my head."

The "do as I say not as I do" politicians absolutely need to be called out. https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/25/us/denver-mayor-thanksgiving-plans-trnd/index.html

There is no more lesson. The lesson is out there on full display. The COVID deniers are all in at this point. It's a fully emotional decision and not a rational one. Once something becomes religious or political it's fuging over. Logic no longer applies.

Alright, I gotta vent here for a minute... As I've already said, my Dad's side of the family (full blown Trumpers) are in the midst of an outbreak. Both of my uncles are symptomatic and positive and my grandmother is symptomatic but has had two negative tests but they assume she's almost certainly positive too. They're still having a family Thanksgiving. They're mad at us that we're not coming. It's no big deal! It's just the flu! Okay, for one it's NOT the fuging flu. Two, hell even if it was I still wouldn't go because I honestly don't feel like being sick with the fuging flu either. Anyway, these fuging morons are gonna have their very own super spreader event. Not a mask will be in sight. Symptomatic COVID carriers will intermingle with the currently uninfected and those people will go back to work next week. Sadly, I don't think this is at all an isolated event. Well, my family's over the fuging too idiocy might be, but yeah... holy fug poo is gonna get bad. /rant off

In other news, former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is suffering from long COVID symptoms. He's having ongoing kidney problems, blood clots, and brain fog. He recently had to pull out of an upcoming title fight due to the medical issues. He's 29 years old and in phenomenal condition.

I don't want COVID, but losing my sense of taste and smell over Thanksgiving would probably greatly benefit my dietary efforts.

My Dad's side of the family are pretty much all full blown Trumpers. COVID is a hoax, it's all political. They pretty much all have a host of risk factors - obesity, type 2 diabetes, etc. etc. You know, stereotypical Trumpers. Well, my uncle just tested positive. My other uncle has symptoms and so does my 81 year old lung cancer surviving grandmother who is the sweetest soul on earth but just has no backbone whatsoever and is a total follower. She was tested today, but I'm sure she's positive. I hope she survives but she has pretty every risk factor a person can possibly have. fug.

It's like that in a lot of places. I absolutely think we're building another bubble right now and it's why I sold. We're seeing a lot of pent up demand being released and it's not sustainable.
-
We're breaking daily new case records every day now. Latest numbers are just shy of six figures at 98k.

Someone in my mom's office tested positive today. Fauci said today that we may not see normalcy before 2022. Glad I sold that house...

I still think I likely had it back in February/March. My anti-body test at the end of April from National Jewish Hospital (one of the top respiratory hospitals in the nation) came back inconclusive. Basically I had some anti-bodies present but not enough to meet the threshold for a positive. I either had the rona or had another coronavirus based cold that produced very similar antibodies. No way to know for sure. I developed that nasty chest cold shortly after a trip to Seattle back when they were the epicenter.

Dan Forest is going all around NC campaigning. Not a mask in sight. He was in my hometown today. The local state senator was posting the pics. I'd say it would be hilarious if he got the rona except for the high likelihood that he would be a super spreader.
