  1. Yeah, he jumped. But not nearly as bad as the Colts' LT did on their 3rd down conversion.
  2. Pretty impressive play by Eason there. Stood confidently in a collapsing pocket and delivered a strike.
  3. The LT false started on that conversion but whatever.
  4. I'd love to see PJ and/or Grier look like viable options today because I'm not convinced that we have a capable backup on the roster currently and given our OL, we may need a capable backup.
  5. It wouldn't be to me. He didn't play well as a rookie and we drafted two more CBs and signed a mid-level FA. We clearly weren't happy with what we had there.
  6. Taylor too. For that matter Ian Thomas.
  7. Who in the fug are Jonathan Celestine and Frankie Luvu?
  8. I was talking long-term. Both drafted into systems that seem to fit their skill sets. Both coached by good staffs. Lance seems to have the best immediate situation, but I'm not sure either actually play as rookies. Jones may have the better situation long-term simply because of the draft capital SF had to relinquish to get Lance. The roster is probably going to feel that down the road.
  9. Lance and Jones definitely landed in the best situations out of the 1st round rookie QBs.
  10. I hate what happened to Burrow. I hope he can bounce back from it.
  11. 4.7/4.8 is still plus athleticism at the QB position. 4.4 is just 1%er type athleticism at the QB position.
  12. I don't see it. Everyone acts like Brees lacked elite talent but the only measurable he lacked was height. He had everything else. He didn't have a Favre arm but his arm was good and he was a plus athlete. Jones doesn't have anywhere close to Brees' arm or legs. I could be wildly wrong, but I think a Kirk Cousins or Jared Goff is likely Jones' ceiling.
  13. I never understood the Jones hype. All I saw from him at Alabama was standing behind an elite OL with all the time in the world and floating dying ducks to wide open likely future All-Pro WRs. I just didn't see NFL QB traits.
  14. Everything Rhule and company say speaks to a "five year rebuild process". I see that approach happening on D. But everything we're doing on offense says we're primarily looking for quick fixes.
  15. Looking forward to seeing the rookies. Looking forward to seeing who sits it out on the OL. That'll be a good indication of seeing who we see as our starters.
  16. I don't know what to make of it. Time will tell. All I can definitely make of it is that we are not handling Darnold as if he is "basically a rookie".
  17. Winston put up huge numbers in Tampa, he just also put up huge turnover numbers. If Payton can help him clean up the turnovers he's gonna be a problem.
  18. This. You have to ignore a lot of stuff to put a ton of faith in Darnold. Rhule sold Darnold to the fanbase by saying he's "basically a rookie". In other words, just ignore all that terribleness that happened in NY. We're going to build this guy from the ground up like a rookie. But, that's not how we're actually handling it. Look at all these snaps true rookies are getting in week one of the preseason. Meanwhile, our "basically a rookie" QB is getting the established vet treatment and sitting it out.
  19. Let's see what that reception would look like at BOA. Teddy had a good guy reputation in Minnesota. That went out the door in Carolina when he threw the staff under the bus after missing a wide open DJ in the endzone.
  20. Oh, we're going to give him a chance. He has better weapons here. He has a better OC here. His OL is likely still going to be trash. I just don't know if this is a recipe for success. If the OL can't hold up, he's going to start seeing ghosts again. He's broken right now and we're trying to fix him. Putting him behind a patchwork OL is going to be interesting.
