  1. Well, that depends. If the player stays healthy and performs well, it is. If the player struggles with injuries or doesn't live up to the contract, then the organization is royally screwed.
  2. It's my understanding that the fully guaranteed money in an NFL contract immediately goes into escrow. Does JR really have $100M in liquid assets just lying around to use on a whim? If the reports are to believe, it sounds like this deal came together very quickly, so yeah, he'd have to have $100M in liquid assets just lying around to use on a whim if the contract is fully guaranteed. FWIW, I'm not buying this fully guaranteed stuff.
  3. Doubtful. Once you've been playing that long your throwing motion is pretty much set. Seems like every year some QB shows off his new and improved throwing motion at the combine and/or pro day, but once he gets in a game he reverts back to what he's always done. When having to react on the fly, years and years of ingrained muscle memory is almost impossible to overcome.
  4. Years of mediocre at best college football in the state of NC has led to a ton of bandwagon college football fans in the state. Whatever southeastern team is having current success, you'll see a lot of their "fans" in NC.
  5. Someone or more than one could blow up next season, but as of right now, next year's QB class looks downright awful IMO.
  6. I wouldn't consider Cutler a game manager. You don't draft a gunslinger to be a game manager. Lovie may try to force him into that role, but in the end, a guy is gonna be who he is. Cutler threw his highest number of INTs in his career (26) his first season playing under Lovie. After that, Lovie tried to force him to be a game manager and Cutler HATED it. He had his second lowest QBR of his career his last season under Lovie. His worst was his first season under Lovie.
  7. I was going to quote, but now the quote function has seemingly gone from merely sucking ass to completely inoperable. Oh well. All those WRs are going to be very tempting for Jameis to force the ball to, and force the ball he will.
  8. And you don't think he's going to do the same thing when he's playing for the worst team in the NFL? I'll be surprised if he doesn't throw 25+ INTs as a rookie.
  9. Winston is gonna lead the NFL in INTs this coming season if the Bucs stick with him throughout the season and he doesn't get hurt. He threw 18 INTs in college last year in only 13 games. That would've been tied for most in the NFL last season. Two stats almost never improve for a QB when going from college to the pros - INTs and completion percentage. All the Jameis nuthuggers who think his only question marks are off the field and even those are overblown seemingly completely overlook the serious turnover concerns ON the field. Jameis is gonna throw a lot of balls to opposing team, especially as a rookie. I just hope he does this when he plays us.
  10. Unless someone else steps up big time as a punt returner, Ginn is a lock. This is no different than the first time we signed him. He was signed as a punt returner first and a WR second with a little icing on the cake this time since we know he's produced well for us as a WR in a fairly limited role.
  11. The only chugging I'm seeing is you sucking down that haterade.
  12. How is it possible to take that the wrong way? Hell, that's a fine compliment.
  13. I fuging hate the Pats, but I'll admit I love Gronk. Dude fully embraces his meat headedness. Seems like most NFL players are meat heads at heart but try to downplay it. Gronk just goes all in on it.
  14. I'm 32 but never really rooted for the Panthers until we drafted Peppers. Had casual interest in them as the local team, but didn't become a full fledged fan until we drafted Pep. As a life long UNC fan, that was the push I needed to get over the hump.
  15. One play? He lead the NFL in receiving yardage per game last year at 108.8ypg. He was a lot more than just one play.
  16. This. The kid killed it last year. The real deal for sure.
  17. Wonder if we put in a claim? Even if we did, I doubt all 24 teams ahead of us failed to do so.
  18. Yep, good person. Always handles matters with the utmost class.
  19. Honestly, if the Pats and their fans have a legitimate beef, it's that the organization got hit too hard. All indications were that Brady and a couple of low level equipment guys were the extent of the involvement in this whole deal. It really feels like the Pats got hit because of their history, which IMO is still legit reasoning. However, if you're going to argue that the Pats got hit too hard as an organization, then Brady got off too light. If you're going to let the organization as a whole off the hook, then Brady should've gotten hit with a half a season suspension. Honestly, hitting Brady with 8 games and taking mid-round pick from the Pats would've seemed like a more fair solution given the information available IMO. But, given the fact that Brady is in his late 30s and the Pats have to strike while the iron is hot, I'm sure having Brady for 12 games is worth losing that 1st rounder in their minds.
  20. Interested in him doesn't necessarily equate to definitely wanting him.
  21. First of all, both the Panthers AND the Vikings were doing it. There was no advantage gained by either team. Secondly, neither team was exactly trying to hide. Thirdly, there was no attempt by either team to deny it or cover it up. Don't get it twisted, Brady and the Pats are getting nailed not because they deflated some game balls, they're getting nailed because they're repeat offenders and they tried to cover it up and deny it.
