Jay Gruden on Bryce Young: He looks small and plays small
strato replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am sorry to whoever was a fan of Bryce Young for the NFL... They lost their minds. Supposed to be professionals. I can't accept that certain people didn't see this. I don't know for sure who is to blame for leading the organization into that decision, but I hope they know. -
Jay Gruden on Bryce Young: He looks small and plays small

I enjoyed that, watched most of it. Thanks. Gruden knows a little bit, and I like that he will just say what he thinks rather than temper it to not hurt someone's feelings. I am sure he did temper here and there but it was more honest, less tentative with his words then what I have been exposed to. Seemed confident in what he was saying. -
We can waive his ass and someone could claim him, technically. Which is the only way I'd take a look at him. But, I've had a good enough look.

Chargers Sign CB Dicaprio Bootle To Practice Squad
strato replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know.. no one needs intel on handling the offense. And the D is so weak, but they operate like they operate and that is one of the prescribed strategies. -
Pundits... are bullshitters and follow narratives like lemmings. No penalty to them if they miss, like weather forecasters.

Reading this will be fun. Repetitive, but fun.

"Maybe you should find another team to vote for" and, gotta say, I watched Arizona and Murray, he is crazy little also. I don't want any of that small mighty mouse demographic at QB in the NFL.

Chargers Sign CB Dicaprio Bootle To Practice Squad

Kind of weird, he was signed here exactly a year ago on 9/11. Signs with LA on 9/11. He isn't in line yet for those guaranteed vet deal where they will not sign you until after week 1, I don't think. If you need a CB, may as well get one that can help you with your opponent. -
The "if he wants to play" words have meaning. I happened to see a clip of him talking about playing just this morning. I am no doctor and don't know what exactly is it that can't at least get better - if not heal back to original condition? It be funny to see him and Young in pads next to each other. (if that sounds like pining, it isn't, I don't favor or consider that being an option for 2024)

That is what a guy who had to change his mechanics look like. Thinking. And we saw him revert to that meander, face the LOS the whole way, whatever you call that. The stuff he was being re-trained out of. I never thought he could do it in a camp. It is just not something that is done at the NFL level.

I will say this. If it works out like that Young doesn't get a ton better, like totally change my mind, and they force us to watch him all year if we want to watch the game... one word from them about fixing him and 2025, I am out for good. Like that minute. No more NFL. Canales gets the Bryce excuse treatment from me. I reserve the right to bitch about him some, but I'll be standing by the plan for this season. Free year to learn, then he is on probation the next year. If he 'behaves' that year, he is good.

I caught a youtube short of his podcast this morning, coincidentally. He still wants to play, said he didn't expect to get a call. Panthers weren't mentioned. No team was.
-
Yeah I 'remembered' that in a different post up there somewhere.

Wilks got the team to play to their ability better than the last few clowns. They were not going to beat the top teams, no. But the whole thing was so much better feeling than anything else since when we used to be good.

You had to stop one play. You are a defensive guy, a secondary guy. You fail not once, but at least twice on the same play. After being burned on it like, 10 minutes ago. Tom Brady Tom Schmady the world is cruel sometimes
-
I was a Steve Wilks guy too. But I had to admit that he did blow the TB game. Anybody looking for a reason to say no, had it. The other thing I felt was valid is who were his coordinators going to be. I don’t care for the HC calling the plays. I think it is a little too much for most of them. I love the guy though and wish he’d have got another HC shot.
-
Probably arguing over who best to coach Stroud. A lot of bitching that we didn’t get an offensive play caller HC with the new QB. If I am remembering correctly. More fun to think about that than what we did.

It seems like the choice is, keep Bryce and hate watching ball but we get a high end replacement. Or get Bryce out and get more watchable ball but short ourselves on the replacement? I suppose he could find himself a roid doctor or something.

Yes. That is a very tough place to play and Dalton had the same guards blocking that Young did; I didn't think he would last but so many weeks before needing medical attention. [the bar being set low, definitely. Any time I watched another team last season they looked better. Didn't take much to do that, you lose perspective if all you watched was the Panthers last year.] It was none of the yardage or anything, it was about throwing downfield. Because we saw piss poor downfield for the first two games. It dominated the list of issues - in my head anyway. That early, we were seeing the offense for the first time or brand new and it was dysfunctional looking. Unbalanced. Missing that necessary component. Where was it? We saw it added back in with Dalton at the wheel. The 58 passes? No we don't want that kind of game. That goes to the different flavor of suck. But just seeing a deep throw that had a chance, felt much better.
