  1. I would say that qualifies a player for an exhibit in the hall more than enshrinement. Like maybe the guy that threw the first forward pass or something. The first soccer style place kicker. Deserves credit for advancing the game. How he did playing his position is kind of linked but should count for more than he was the first to do something. IMO
  2. Low bar. He will keep it and we know why. Anyway it is prove it time. He should be playing unless he is hurt.
  3. They ought to be. If Dalton is playing without a cane he will probably smoke Bryce. He did in both week three games (when he was fresh).
  4. I guess I am reaching but 7 games. would him playing against a couple of shitty tackles skew those numbers at least some? Some of these OTs need help regardless of who is across from them. I am sorry I am naturally skeptical about stats without real context
  5. They already have it. Those injuries linger all year remember? He is in the playing hurt club now.
  6. There haven’t been any big games. Is this like big time throws? I would argue strongly that there are no big time throws without big games. The definition of whatever they are quantifying is fuged. Even if it is his biggest game (why?) there isn’t anything big time about it. Elimination games in season. Clinching games in season. Post season playoff games. That is it as far as what big games are. I suppose a division showdown game could be considered big but that will likely fall into the elimination or clinching regular season bin. IMHO.
  7. Yes. If Wallace was like the sidekick and not the star we wouldn’t be in that bad a shape. We need a clear upgrade over him. Next to him.
  8. Given your handle maybe you would agree but I would take Smitty over Fitzgerald 7 days a week. Without looking at his numbers.
  9. Twist the knife Joe. Gonna deny us our annual Andy game. Honestly I think it would be reckless to put him out there on a bum ankle. I haven’t seen Andy to be really confident (even though I correctly was just last year), but it also goes to who gives us the best chance to win question. I mean, since we are all about winning now.
  10. Yeah I am not passionate about this. And yea longevity counts for sure. Plenty of guys get left off because they didn’t sustain their level of play for enough years.
  11. Good post. I am pretty much with Dallas being his ceiling. Consistent 4 quarter performance. He could produce more numbers in different scenarios but I don’t think he can play much better. If that makes any sense. He got an away lot of help though. I struggle to visualize that level of play overcoming a really good defense that shuts down the run game and puts it in his hands. Was hoping for more evidence on that this year.
  12. I wonder why that is. My first instinct is just so many holes to fill it just gets elbowed out of the way
  13. Oh, okay. Yeah no doubt. I’d probably take someone like Steve McNair over him even. maybe that’s a stretch but I liked McNair’s game. Eli was solid, and pretty consistent if I recall. Understated maybe. He was not flashy.
  14. Oh hell I would so take him if he were still playing. He is for sure a Giants hall of honor guy or whatever they have.
  15. I guess that is my thing, I never viewed him as top tier. Despite his couple of magical years. I am not campaigning against him or anything, not that invested, just feel like he is a notch below the bar. I appreciate the different perspectives.
  16. Well some guys leave no room for doubt. The worst thing I have seen anyone say recently was I said he and Horn were difference makers and someone said not so much. Good but not elite. Sure people were still trying to evaluate him early on, like most guys.
  17. I can buy that. They have bigger issues than Bryce’s sprained ankle to draw their attention.
  18. His durability was like the last negative I would look to in size related critique. Uh, evaluating him. There have been plenty of small/short players at other positions that were tough as hell. RB, WR, some DBs and returners. And how tall was Sam Mills? His height, we know restricts his vision. His size inhibits ball security. Big time. I mean that could be attributed more to his lack of strength but it comes under size I suppose. I get that throwers don’t want that upper body too bulked and tightened up but he should have been building his base it doesn’t appear that he has done much.
  19. It is really hard to rank defenses off of yards. To me the only true measure is how they do against the powerhouse offensive teams. If you can get enough of those those matchups. Points allowed too. There might be a way to weight points allowed after turnover puts them up against it. Yardage ain’t it for me.
  20. I think it is a matter of priorities. We had some big ones. And like you said, and I have said also, it isn’t a one year job. Not with the way they neglected that side of the ball. I think you have to go back to Horn to find any real investment until this last offseason.
  21. I just wasn’t impressed with him - to the degree of HOF worthiness - excluding a couple of seasons. Your reasoning, especially the NYC market, is sound enough. I am a degree or two off of him, would not vote. And wouldn’t vote Rivers in either though he was was numbers king and a very good QB.
  22. A good offseason would go a long way. Pass rush and ILB are still weak as hell. Of course, this season we’ll have the two edge guys getting schooled and a good offseason for them should see them come back as upgrades.
  23. I see Eli Manning is a finalist. Why?
  24. I have to use internet to hear them and missed Packer. Used to see references to him here. They are likely pandering to the casual fans who are less in the mindset of analysis and more in the rooting for their team mindset. Playing down to the audience. Lot of real dumbasses out there these days.
