I guess that is my thing, I never viewed him as top tier. Despite his couple of magical years. I am not campaigning against him or anything, not that invested, just feel like he is a notch below the bar. I appreciate the different perspectives.

Well some guys leave no room for doubt. The worst thing I have seen anyone say recently was I said he and Horn were difference makers and someone said not so much. Good but not elite. Sure people were still trying to evaluate him early on, like most guys.
-
I can buy that. They have bigger issues than Bryce’s sprained ankle to draw their attention.
-
His durability was like the last negative I would look to in size related critique. Uh, evaluating him. There have been plenty of small/short players at other positions that were tough as hell. RB, WR, some DBs and returners. And how tall was Sam Mills? His height, we know restricts his vision. His size inhibits ball security. Big time. I mean that could be attributed more to his lack of strength but it comes under size I suppose. I get that throwers don’t want that upper body too bulked and tightened up but he should have been building his base it doesn’t appear that he has done much.

It is really hard to rank defenses off of yards. To me the only true measure is how they do against the powerhouse offensive teams. If you can get enough of those those matchups. Points allowed too. There might be a way to weight points allowed after turnover puts them up against it. Yardage ain’t it for me.

I think it is a matter of priorities. We had some big ones. And like you said, and I have said also, it isn’t a one year job. Not with the way they neglected that side of the ball. I think you have to go back to Horn to find any real investment until this last offseason.

I just wasn’t impressed with him - to the degree of HOF worthiness - excluding a couple of seasons. Your reasoning, especially the NYC market, is sound enough. I am a degree or two off of him, would not vote. And wouldn’t vote Rivers in either though he was was numbers king and a very good QB.

A good offseason would go a long way. Pass rush and ILB are still weak as hell. Of course, this season we’ll have the two edge guys getting schooled and a good offseason for them should see them come back as upgrades.

I see Eli Manning is a finalist. Why?
-
I don’t think I’d rank them that high but they are much improved and you don’t hold NFL teams to like 50 yards over two games. I forget the exact number but it was awful low.

I used to fish about every morning and they were always on in the boat. Now…. I will tell someone to fug themselves if I get pushed to it but am really big on arguing the points and not the other person. I fail every so often and mock someone if they are just ridiculous, did it yesterday over the on and off the bandwagon behavior. Shouldn’t have. Will get hot when people start with the accusations of ignorance, or impugn the other person’s character rather than address their points. I have no patience for that and don’t respect it. They crossed that line with me. fug them. And it wasn’t me they attacked, I just can’t tolerate it much. One thing I miss is the interviews or some of them anyway. But you can get them on the website and avoid most of their inanity. I do appreciate the retelling of some of that like you just did.

That is true. Or close to it. Arguably. Lol. At the same time wasn’t he ostensibly in charge of shipping them out or not keeping them and putting us in Bryce land? Just to keep in the narrow field of QBs and not other moves. -
I don’t know who other than Bryce Stan’s can stand to listen to them. They lost me when people would text in an opinion on Young that differed from their fanning, and they would down the texter not argue the point they would just dismiss it as whatever. Same thing we see here when the argument isn’t really convincing, here come the personal attacks.

I am burned out on Bryce debate so without getting too deep into it… I appreciate your perspective in some of those thoughts but feel like this Bryce thing is a massively bigger concern that JR’s pie chart. We are talking about having three lost seasons if this doesn’t get clearly resolved and putting at least another one on the table. It isn’t scratching the itch, let me just put it that way

Yeah it is nice seeing some improvement on the defensive side and the young guys. I don’t want to think about the future much if Bryce doesn’t heal and we are kept in this limbo via an incomplete test. It is depressing I don’t have quite as dim a view of the 24 draft class as you do I have modest hopes for XL compared to none. I like CSW. Am a little cooler on Sanders but at the same time realized this week that Morgan getting that future 2nd for moving down turned into Scourton. I think. Jackson is a real value in exchange for the guy we took with the 7th. I don’t expect anything from Brooks but Wallace seems to have improved enough to not bust. And Coker is in with them, but is giving us nothing this year. So far, and it is almost half over I hope Andy still has enough to make watching the offense less of a claustrophobic experience. And there is a small chance we upset the Bills but just playing them tough and making it a fun game to watch will be enough.

I am gonna say good for him. That is kind of impressive. -
That does sound familiar. Those fans are deep. In snow lol. you don’t want to be up there in January. I would think they have probably seen it all. Except what… the championship? Gotta feel for them.

I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired (or out) after the 2023 season. Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well. I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.

Yeah. In seriousness, I believe if we see the Andy we saw in Las Vegas and the OL let’s him be that, we could rock. Because the players get excited if he is slinging it. We did not have the running game we’ve just had for a couple of weeks the last time Andy played either. That may not happen. Who knows. The OL and running game are about as QB friendly as we have had for some time. Mostly due to the line. Which couldn’t make a yard last week. And the defense is pulling their weight much better than the last time Andy started. They have done a pretty good job with the D. Could be just one or two years away from being really good. Again who knows. We are in good shape if tne players are up for it. I’ll just wait and see. It is pretty much an annual playoff team coming in here.

We are reading the tea leaves. Right now we don’t know how many games he will miss. He left after the best 6 best consecutive quarters he has played. He couldn’t have drawn it up better to get the benefit of the doubt from people that seem inclined to give it to him. As a person who never wanted him, I couldn’t draw up a worse scenario for the offseason. He gets the benefit of the doubt without earning it by showing us what we need to see as this season plays out. And if he does play they can blame any poor play on a bum ankle he is gutting through. The dominoes just line up… I guess I am clutching pearls but as I said, we have been abused. I can’t help myself. It seems like he could skate another year without giving us what we need to see from him. Maybe he will. I need to see him leave no doubt or I will have much doubt.

Yes. I am sorry, I would just rather watch anything at this point than the same dink and dunk. I admit the handoffs RICO have been pretty great lately. Couple of throws. As soon as they take the run away we are back to that same sorry ass lil passing chart.

Yeah and that is the most frustrating part. the owner is a fuging idiot and we are powerless. fuging emasculated which is his thing with the brass balls and the way he operates.
