  1. Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post. Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
  2. Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it. Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well. For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year. The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
  3. Ribs definitely are bbq. What some people call bbq is just any old meat cooked outside on a bbq grill they call it. A charcoal grill. It could be hot dogs and hamburgers and that’s bbq. Those people normally aren’t from the south.
  4. Sure is. I got a pellet grill a couple of years ago and it is the easiest thing ever for making excellent butts and shoulders, all that stuff and more. It is kind of unbelievable what comes out if I just follow instructions.
  5. I mean, we are conditioned now to accept a little higher level of subpar play (subpar for a legit NFL starter) as improvement and proof that he is a real NFL QB. When I remember the first game he played I was baffled, totally, at the lack of downfield action, that I blamed it on Reich protecting him. I was basically grasping for any straw to explain it. His first game. There was no Reich protecting him like I thought, Reich simply knew Young could not have success throwing downfield. His stupid slow footwork and weak arm is why, It wasn't to keep him safe. How many now, 23 times? That has not changed. We are just conditioned to expect less, because we have been watching SO much less than 'NFL good' play from him. Now, watching him try to play NFL ball is no longer a foreign and weird experience, because we have seen it 23 times. Conditioned. So you get into relativism or a grading curve or something. Time to wake the fug up and drop these low expectations being his bar for good.
  6. I did the same, but wouldn't be surprised if they made a pizza like that out there.
  7. The KC sauce is mostly what I can't get with. Sweet, thick, like the top of a meat loaf lol.
  8. No need for apologies Sir. I thought you missed that I had given a much more positive estimate earlier but we were called out for being too opti-mystic. So I tried to make them happy. Maybe I owe you one.
  9. Go on and move to California they have the foo foo gourmet avocado pineapple and truffles pizza.
  10. You kidding right? Slow roasted pig all the way. I like the thin vinegar/hot pepper sauce the best but mustard, tomato based, I don't care it is all good. Now, a KC steak? They win that one probably.
  11. My first thought was, Legette should be there with him.
  12. I don't think Rodgers but probably not for the political reasons I bet a lot of posters are motivated by. I just think he is not the QB for the Panthers, at all. Too old, too expensive, too fragile, no longer elite.
  13. It wasn't great but the 2022 NYG won 9 of 16 games plus a playoff game. He had a 92.5 passer rating. 15 pass TDs 3200 yards, 7 rushing TD, 700 yards 6 fumbles 3 lost. His first season he had 18 fumbles lost 11. Wow. Anyhow he had problems in 2023 with injuries and didn't win poo before tearing his ACL. This year, no Barkley, not good, but you know.... these ACLs take a while and it was right and he throws right so pushes off of it. I agree it doesn't hurt to let that guy compete cheap. You don't hand him the job like with Bryce or NYG with him. When I look at what we have been saddled with, he doesn't look worse and has the physical advantage. So I don't get the umbrage given our situation. This "No we won't settle for anything less that the best" attitude and then taking Bryce Young was pathetic and I think that attitude brought us to where we are. That's where that poo gets you. Away from Mayfield, away from Darnold, even away from PJ - just to replace them with an inferior PJ. At the same time I am not really advocating for the guy just looking at it objectively. It could be another guy with the same story. And yes the odds of him getting it are low but the numbers and performance from 2022 are for sure better than we see with Bryce even after a season of major propping him up with better players around him. Take a look don't take a look he fails or he doesn't fail... to instead sit here and be happier with what we have is bullshit.
  14. Well yeah, it was all about Bryce all the time. fug the defense is what I saw. They only get addressed with the leftovers from helping the QB.
  15. For the silly people that worship her it will be that. The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
  16. We have one of the only guys Jones might better than, playing every Sunday 'for' us. I have never been a fan, didn't watch him in college nor in NYC (or Jersey to be accurate), and I only watched him in the Munich game. If he comes into focus for the Panthers, I will then look but talk about replacements is going to happen and when you are as poor in the QB department as we are, that will naturally include some iffy players.
  17. The Hurney trade up denial clearly being a mistake in hindsight, likely influenced the big trade up in 2023. That's so Panthers.
  18. You are taking it out of context. I was going there because my first post wasn't negative enough. But you are right I'm not happy Panther football wise (why would I be?). Though, I am looking forward to seeing how he does. Because he could do my first estimate or my second. If you take the receptions based on bad Bryce all the throws to him will be behind the LOS, and well defended. Meanwhile they are smothering our run game so nothing great there.
  19. Well, okay, 8 yards on 4 carries, 1 fumble lost. Two catches on 4 targets for -2 yards. Happy?
  20. I mean, the defense hasn't been what I'd call good last year, or this year. But I think if you give his defense the kind of infusion we gave the offense, they would be pretty good. Still, for the picks.... Next.
  21. I think NYC people are like that because it is such a rat race up there. You have to get over or someone is getting over on you seemed to be the attitude. I get it too. They expected too much of Darnold too soon here. He needed recovery time and I agree that Jones does too. If this actually happened it would be for the offseason and beyond. I guess. It just seems like not the best timing though, to be doing redecorating there. Someone is desperate too, or will be, and will probably give him a look before we would.
  22. Well the push to hire minorities will have people hard at work identifying the top candidates. We know that. Two 3rd round picks? That's crazy, he can start tomorrow.
  23. 7-8 touches including passes. 50 yards between them. One nice gain somewhere Sanders has been getting around 4 carries per game and maybe 3 targets. I am curious to see if they run two back sets this week, I think they will just wondering if they dig into it a little.
  24. After watching Young for a year I don't think that would have been a deal killer. Then you go to the notion that no one else wanted the job, it opened it up more than usual.
  25. I think you do what you need to to to get the gig. Then if you can keep it you can do things more your way. They made this year all about Bryce. Not bringing competition in, and loading up the draft and FA to make his Sundays go well. Dan did it their way, maybe it was his way too, but like you say... as a MLB you have to look at Bryce and lick your chops. I could never understand how a defensive player could look at Young and be afraid of what he could do, so I didn't think any were telling the truth when they acknowledged him as worthy of the first overall.
