A win postpones the slide back to below .500, if I were to place a bet on the near future. I am sorry but what I would love to see in coming weeks is a flash in the pan QB come from somewhere. Entertainment value will be high if there is some Bryce competition. Doesn’t look likely, just sayin.

The year we invested in CMC Saints got Kamara in tne 3rd and he outproduced CMC at least the first couple of years. I wanted to go after him that year.

With the exception of Sanders we have been pretty good about cycling them through.

You are going to have to miss out on a Peppers level talent or other notable monsters over the years, that are so clearly separated from the pack. But I generally agree. For just about all positions. What was crazy to me is that it was after CMC was trade that the team won some games. I wasn’t expecting that. Though I will say I was kind of at odds with them making him almost the whole offense. It didn’t help the other people develop much. But for my money all day and every day the play was Darnold, the 9th pick and the highest 2nd we gave away and DJ and all the rest of the picks we gave up plus the aggressive FA spending, rather than that drunken Vegas weekend where it all went south. We still would have had Fitterer though and that would have been a problem.

I was going to remark that fiery stat nerd threw every irrelevant stat in the book out and somehow failed to use that one. Lol.

That Peter Principle is the real deal a whole lot of times. And HC just seems to me to be a totally different job than the subordinate positions of coordinator (all three phases, I think John Harbaugh was a ST coach) . Anyhow it is real easy for HC people to be overwhelmed and unprepared. Such a different job. Those that hire ex HCs as mentors or coordinators are smart. But many just suck at it. You have to have all the organization in place, front office too. I tend to be supportive, at this stage, of the people we have and would be willing to stick with them like 5 years before judging their future. Because we need to establish continuity. At some point I would like to have OC that called the plays. It is too much for one guy.

I can’t argue too hard with established track records. Just hope because it has happened before. I think it takes massive and embarrassing failure. It isn’t hard to conceptualize the general truism that success in one field does not guarantee success in another. I have had to experience that in my the hard way before, dealing with a self made millionaire friend. Getting them to understand that is very difficult. I had to part ways to escape it 30 years later, he still hasn’t learned. But he isn’t my problem anymore…. Tepper cannot be excised so easily.

At some point we need to commit and stick with a GM and coach. If we really want to be like Pittsburgh; Knoll, Cowher, Tomlin, we have to walk that walk. No shortcuts.

I had hope as recently as this year that Bryce would fail so hard that Tepper just throws in the towel on dictating to the football people. But my meager sports prayers are not usually heard.

I have a no college coach rule. Pretty hard and fast, like my no historically undersized QBs with below average NFL arms at 1.1 rule Only waived for a coach that had higher level NFL experience prior to college like a Pete Carrol maybe. Rhule was not that at all. And the most comical and memorable example of Tepper’s ego to me will always be the “I’ll take a year to learn the business side and a year to learn the football side”. I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great. It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared to year one. If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now. Just to see.
