We have one of the only guys Jones might better than, playing every Sunday 'for' us. I have never been a fan, didn't watch him in college nor in NYC (or Jersey to be accurate), and I only watched him in the Munich game. If he comes into focus for the Panthers, I will then look but talk about replacements is going to happen and when you are as poor in the QB department as we are, that will naturally include some iffy players.

The Hurney trade up denial clearly being a mistake in hindsight, likely influenced the big trade up in 2023. That's so Panthers.

You are taking it out of context. I was going there because my first post wasn't negative enough. But you are right I'm not happy Panther football wise (why would I be?). Though, I am looking forward to seeing how he does. Because he could do my first estimate or my second. If you take the receptions based on bad Bryce all the throws to him will be behind the LOS, and well defended. Meanwhile they are smothering our run game so nothing great there.

Well, okay, 8 yards on 4 carries, 1 fumble lost. Two catches on 4 targets for -2 yards. Happy?

I think NYC people are like that because it is such a rat race up there. You have to get over or someone is getting over on you seemed to be the attitude. I get it too. They expected too much of Darnold too soon here. He needed recovery time and I agree that Jones does too. If this actually happened it would be for the offseason and beyond. I guess. It just seems like not the best timing though, to be doing redecorating there. Someone is desperate too, or will be, and will probably give him a look before we would.

7-8 touches including passes. 50 yards between them. One nice gain somewhere Sanders has been getting around 4 carries per game and maybe 3 targets. I am curious to see if they run two back sets this week, I think they will just wondering if they dig into it a little.

After watching Young for a year I don't think that would have been a deal killer. Then you go to the notion that no one else wanted the job, it opened it up more than usual.
-
I think you do what you need to to to get the gig. Then if you can keep it you can do things more your way. They made this year all about Bryce. Not bringing competition in, and loading up the draft and FA to make his Sundays go well. Dan did it their way, maybe it was his way too, but like you say... as a MLB you have to look at Bryce and lick your chops. I could never understand how a defensive player could look at Young and be afraid of what he could do, so I didn't think any were telling the truth when they acknowledged him as worthy of the first overall.

Serious Thoughts Fellas What numbers would Bryce..

Yeah, he gets credit for trying. He does. But I don't see any way he can really be a pocket QB because he is so damned short and small I don't feel like he can see the field without having throwing lanes like, between the tall people. And I never objected to his size, fragility wise - because I never made it that far to worry about that - but if he is gonna sack up and take the hits for stepping into the throws I don't know how long that will work. And I feel like Canales has to x out so many potential calls because of one limitation or the other; we don't have a fully diverse passing offense with him back there. It is limited. -
It would be, if that is how he is seen. I just want Canales to go get someone he thinks can do the job. If it is Jones or some guy we haven't thought of, it doesn't matter to me.

Apparently 126 or whatever it was passing will do it. And yeah it doesn't matter what I think either. -
Think that cat head is big enough?

If that Browns defense showed up like that they would kill us,

I can imagine drinks and pink slips being thrown. Worth noting though, Gettleman was gone when they gave Jones that contract. Pretty sure.

We finally get to see Brooks this week

Regarding Canales, looking for him to not be out coached is probably not the best criteria to go with. That is going to happen. This is Canales year of getting schooled. You learn later on if he is getting it. And it it probably isn’t a one year thing. He’ll be a sophomore next year, still facing professors. -

His passing chart needs to look like a good NFL quarterback. With no red dots and plenty of downfield completions. The team has to run an offense that doesn’t rely on screens and flairs and rollouts. I don’t think that is going to happen. -
I think he does not have to pass through waivers as a 4 year vet. That makes him a vested vet and he is released outright to free agency. So I don’t think there are contractual obligations attached. But I am frequently wrong about poo. This is too sudden for us to get involved I think, at least right away. Now watch that be wrong too.

I expect Nix to…. wait. A better way to put it is I don’t expect him to fail because of his obvious physical shortcomings, relative to playing NFL QB Yeah he is a rookie. Again. Okay, see the cope there? One thing has not changed. Young has a fraction (3/4, maybe?) of what these others have as far as a downfield game; no one is afraid he will throw it over their heads and they play him that way. And this is reflected in the way the offense is called, also. This is a big deal but no let’s ignore it. You can see the difference in the offense immediately with Dalton. it is so elemental to football but people want to stay blind to it because they like Bryce or whatever other reason.

What I take away from this is we need to find a Nix to develop. Period. I mean, it has nothing to do with Young who is about as developed as he'll ever be.

Other games 11/17, got some good ones today

The point is taken regarding down the round QBs doing well. The thing is that draft order is for all rounds. The higher the better obviously (fuging travesty about our 2nd rounder especially if it is number 33). For trading value if nothing else, which I what I'd want to do with a top 3 pick if we can get there. And get a later guy, and if you want to get back up somewhere you have the currency. -

That is why they took him over a 3rd or 4th round guy. I think. -

I think we are gonna see him take Sanders' snaps, basically. If he doesn't look better than that, whoa. -

There is a black cat, or there isn't. If there is, it keeps its ears open.
