Refresh my memory please. Fitt said what?
-
I understand what you’re saying but it is all fishy as hell, what about all that wait until the offseason to fix his mechanics or footwork or whatever? Who picks a player at that selection with that level of issues? To start the 1st year. I’m just not sure he thought that’s what he was getting until late in the game. And what you said about intentionally, I felt the same way. I didn’t know what to make of, the lack of urgency to the offense especially was a mystery. I thought they were protecting Young or over protecting him, I just didn’t get it. It is an historically confusing thing for me. Makes almost zero sense. What I say about Young and Reich is not coming from a place that I know the reason. I wish I did know. Most people can only guess what all that really was. There are a lot of angles when you get into the rifts between the staff, and how the design of the offense and the power dynamic of Brown fits into that. Was Reich forced into that? Did he resent it? Don’t know.
-
Well, I think Reich would have been a lot better if he got to pick. I have no hard evidence just don’t feel he would have selected Bryce. He is still getting paid and probably wouldn’t say that anyway, publicly, out of courtesy to Bryce. It isn’t his fault. I keep thinking Reich was blind sided by Young, his limitations when he arrived, and hampered by this Brown component and here come the too many cooks. I expect better mostly because Canales seems fundamentally very sound and he has a lot of experience with Russell Wilson, who is probably my successful Bryce comp where I could see a path. And the WRs that enable deep rainbow jump ball QB. And Canales has no illusions about what he has to work with, from the interview, and won't have wait until May to figure it out. Should see a better offensive plan, and better OL execution. That’s a low bar though. What we won’t know is if Canales can put it all together in a way that works. Or somewhat works.
-
Well a good sign is that Canales knows the difference between college and NFL talent level. Maybe he can teach the scouts to see it. In other news, he has to be a total offensive wizard to make a Bryce Young led offense to scare anyone. Hope he can be that.
-
Won't say bust before he plays another game, but it was clear to me before the draft that wasn’t a number 1, or even close. I guess if they can get dominant players around him and design for his deficiencies he could be serviceable. But why do you want to do all that when you can get a prototypical performance out of a guy that is whatever size and shape? Do I cringe when I see him in the huddle? Yep, I admit it. Because I know what’s coming. But give me a real NFL arm and I’d feel a ton better about dealing with 5’10” 185. It’s always been his throwing/footwork/poor velocity for me.
-
The guy should have never been picked where he was. Period. It isn’t his fault, I understand that. And he is a good kid, they say. If he had been a 4th round flyer I’d be rooting for him hard. But he would never just be handed the starting job, unchallenged. I want fair competition.
-
He only needs NFL open. With a sharp, competitive QB throwing to him, he can make rain. I wish we had that.
-
Zero doubt. One of the main reasons I still hold JR in reverence, is that I never had a team to call my own, we were sort of no man’s land. You can never take that away from him, whatever else you want to cancel culture him with. So then, we have the Panthers. And there is Steve after a little while. A true on the field no bullshit ass whipper. Against the best. Representing us. I knew what I was looking at with him. If more people had seen the Panthers he would have been a superstar. And we got to watch him every week. Definitely an all timer.

You sure you're in the right thread? JK I was definitely rooting for Tarik Cohen. Wishing him luck.

A Brit breaks down Bryce Young vs Jacksonville
strato replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
We have mentioned that here since he came on the radar. Now some British guy says it and you go for your wallet? There are some throws he can make. My concern all along has been that velocity thing because of the speed of the defenders, at best he can somehow calibrate his processor to step into the new requirements at the higher level he is in now. Haven’t seen it. -

I rewatched that game recently. Someone said something that made me go find it, don’t remember what. I think there was one deep throw from inside our ten that Bryce actually looked good on. I thought wow if he could do that every time it looks more like a real QB. Maybe keep an eye out for it. -
Hold his beer. okay, of course I expect him to be better. But that is up to him.
-
True. Then he says some other stuff I forget, it was yesterday. I couldn’t really get a great, or real strong maybe, justification for Young over the undrafted guy that did beat him, in those subsequent comments. I’d need to listen again. But the larger claim against the title or headline is correct. Valid. More people are getting tired of watching him fail though. This sort of truth or fact distortion will (could) start to equal the distortion we saw prior to the draft that was coming from the opposite direction. New theory: I guess if it is a more popular opinion, more dumbasses try and lie for it.

Canales was knowingly hired with inexperience and some people figure it is a gimme year to learn his way into the job moving forward. He’ll get OJT for the HC role. If you think that’s reasonable then maybe you also think that having Evero makes it way easier for him to lean into what he knows and not worry about the defense, At All, from the coaching it up standpoint. Totally Evero’s domain. In season he can say ‘we need to approach this team xxxx style’ or he could consult with Evero about it as the week progresses. IOW he can basically just trust Evero to work it out knowing that usually it will be worked out. I guess you can tell I think Dom is 100% right about Evero. Canales’ main thing this year should be that all the pressure he is under is related to the QB. Not wins and losses not how the defense looks, just Young and these young (and new) WRs and the offensive scheme.

Where would the Panthers be if they sat Bryce Young last season?
strato replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I believe Reich said Dalton asked for the playbook to be expanded. But that’s just from memory which is usually pretty good but not 100% court of law reliable. Yeah, people weren’t spelling it out but there was some truth to be gleaned from actions taken, and not taken. -
Per Cam Newton, Kirk Cousins has six 6️⃣ games to prove himself

Looks like it is going to stay that way for a while too. I agree with him on Cuz. -

Yeah. Absolutely. People missed the points to be considered with Dalton/Seattle and make it about oh we didn’t win, see, Dalton isn’t any better. Or oh he didn’t complete xxx number(s) or whatever. (edit: how many were called? Better question, and I am not sure of that) People last week or a few days back want to forget totally about the real reason we wanted to see another QB (besides hopng to be competitive). The interest with most of his doubters lay in the downfield passing game. Where was it? Reich’s first two games following that ‘close to the vest’ ruse they used in preseason.... The big prize QBs first two games. Combined = Uugghh. Everyone was upset. Some at Reich and not the QB, but upset (me, I was baffled at Reich/the inexplicable at the time, offense, we got less than even what I expected from Young). Two games and maybe 3 (three) weak and ineffective deep ball attempts, with the top drafted and VERY expensive to acquire player. I was definitely freaking out. Frank was obviously limiting him and I thought it was Tepper until I could tell no, Tepper wants more than this, wtf? Then, after much consideration and confusion, I realized I did not understand what happened and would \never know unless someone involved told me. But my best guess was Frank had zero faith in Bryce Young. But back to the Seattle Dalton thing... after an entire camp and preseason, Dalton had those plays in the book BUT Young Did Not and we saw that in Seattle and THAT was the relevant takeaway for all you...well I will be nice and refer to you as... people that couldn’t figure that out. -

Navy, how many excuses did you manage to fit into that paragraph? NM, I am not counting but it is impressive. I have actually said before I see how they could get something out of him, which is design everything just for him. He has to be hidden. He has some things he does that can move the ball. With enough help. And they have to execute it. It won’t be great but it will be enough to get out of the top 5 in the draft next year. I am not gonna ever sign on to this guy if what he has shown he can do, is all he can do. If they don’t do anything this year and they bring him back, don’t worry. I’ll won’t be like those fools that threatened to leave if Trump was elected and then act like they didn’t say it, I’ll be out. For real. Saying it now, if he sucks and they don’t admit it and bring in real competition, I am for sure OUT. So you should probably hope for him to suck -again- and the team to be fuging stupid about it -again-. I did figure out what this year’s new excuse will be though, and wondering how long it takes people to start using it. -

I just hope one thing is correct, and if I knew it was decided I could detach and watch without stressing over the future. The one thing is: this year is truly make it or break it for him. But my LARGE fear is that he will again not measure up in cost vs production and the eyeball test (again), but because the team around him was totally overhauled... He will do JUST enough to sell people on the con that he will get make the leap in year three because IT TAKES ANOTHER YEAR TO INTEGRATE HIS WEAPONS and for the OL TO GEL!!!! (the new excuse). And here we are again with me closer to dead and the team another year farther away from the prize. This is YEAR 7. -

Panthers OFFICIALLY Announced to Play in Munich.

I probably can’t say here, but it serves them right. I hate that we have to do this global NFL poo. -
Mathematical Biology? No idea with that really is... I could make a (bad?) joke and say a whole lot of people need to take that class. These hires are people who did not advise us in the 2023 draft so that has to be an improvement. Good job.

So okay according to you, and to be fair, others too, the state of affairs is: he couldn’t have done any better last year because of all the horrible players and coaches that didn’t do their jobs. And People that talk about him not doing a good job, even though he was historically bad, are ruining it for his fans. And top it off with: real fans know what good is, and the doubters don't. Got it.
