  1. Morgan excited me a couple of times. When he starts talking about football players. I know he knows about that part. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say they just want football players for a while. Young this year... it has to be put up or shut up. If you’re gonna be the guy, be the guy. If you are not gonna be the guy, sit the hell down.
  2. I don’t harp on his height, but it is a factor as is his size. He has a lot to overcome. So we’ll see. Talking about stats correlating... to say there are no stats correlating, how many QBs his size are there to garner stats from in the first place? Is that a fair question? There aren’t like, any comps in the modern day that come to mind I’m probably forgetting someone but besides Murray.... ? Imma joke, it’s hard to bat a ball down when they are throwing it sideways OB. But that ain’t the real risk it happens with all of them.
  3. The thing is on those freelance plays we did have Alabama open, a few times, it seems like that happens more the longer the play can be extended. Pop wide open 15-20 yards downfield he can get it there. Doesn’t have to be a rope. But how often can he extend the play long enough for that to happen? His margins are so small. I swear they need to figure out some way to seal off the backside pursuit on a ‘rollout’ type of move. I am not smart enough to figure out a good plan on that one.
  4. The near field methodical game doesn’t fare well when time is short, for one thing. And we know the defense has to be forced to defend the whole field for an offense to have a good chance. Too easy for them minus that. So that is job number one to me if you want to be competitive.
  5. Didn’t think it very long. poo was over in preseason looking back. This is different as can be. You had Brown from one school and the HC in a different one. The two guys now, are like little peas in a pod. I assume agreement with no huge compromises between the two needing to be baked in. No guarantees but that is a thing that you like having. It is the most interesting thing going on this season. I mean, whether Young can step up is almost secondary to do they have a great plan. To me. Because if he cannot execute the plan, at least we know they can do that. If he can, gravy.
  6. Respectable to me means looking like a middling NFL team as opposed to a team that couldn’t beat the Washington Generals.
  7. I read two articles from alleged professional writers and was not told which side he tore. If it’s his plant foot seems like it would be tougher. But how much actual running is he doing these days? He may be able to hang, but at that age something else might go.
  8. I’d go if it was at Coastal. About 30 minutes away. Don’t know why that would happen.
  9. Bottom line, he is gonna have to do some tangible good stuff to back it up. If he has the goods that attitude would be a plus.
  10. All agents are kind of not likable, in the business mode. A lot are probably assholes off the job too. Seems like being dissatisfied is part of the job description.
  11. Okay this was interesting, I didn’t read the article that included the deep ball stuff above but I just looked at it and they were crediting Purdy’s arm as being stronger than before. Not because of new/repaired ligaments but because of the rehab. Probably worth reading because I never believed there was much you could do, your arm is what it is. You can torque your base and trunk and do the mechanical stuff and get a better ball but I thought your arm was kind of your arm. https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/175695-deep-ball-brilliance-ignites-offensive-explosion/
  12. I haven’t watched a lot of Purdy but I wouldn’t think of him for a big money QB deal because yes on a lesser team it is a harder job. OTOH I bet he has a decent deep ball, which we are still wondering whether Young does. And he was taken off the bottom of the barrel. I’d have taken him there over... I mean please. Every time. Put Young down to second day like 3rd round I’d see a good debate going on. I went on a short search for Purdy deep ball just so I’d know, found this pretty quick. https://x.com/nwagoner/status/1734094412186280261 okay me and Juan have the same issue. Here is what it said: QB Brock Purdy is up to 7 completions on 13 throws traveling 30+ air yards this season. He has 3 TDs and 0 INT on those attempts. From 2017-2022, Jimmy Garoppolo had 6 completions on 40 throws of 30+ air yards. He had 2 TD and 6 INTs on those attempts.
  13. It IS Panther-y isn’t it. And it’s not even really Black Cat time yet. We have guys ready to go though, and about the only ones that think this is a playoff possible team are the total sunshiners that have been saying the same thing every year. I don’t see it as some catastrophe. Yet. edit: I mean, if I called it we’d still have Foreman. Who is a banger?
  14. They think the QB needs the help and wanted to make sure they got it. I don’t they would do the same thing again with a different QB situation, where they maybe felt better about sticking a rookie at C right now. I just keep thinking the rookie C learning protections, etc, learning the speed of the game in the NFL for the first time, that maybe that isn’t the ideal plan. They need to get it going fast because if it doesn’t go, you are going to have some confidence issues. Then the RB is there and they thought Dallas was going to make a move. And they want a strong running game and this is their guy. That’s what I think they were thinking, whether that was what they should have done? We probably won’t know if the C would have been a better move. If the QB blows chunks anyway then having a solid C moving forward would be a plus. If he does well, would he have done as well behind a learning rookie? I just think this is all about making it as easy as possible and giving every advantage they can. Cause right now the job is save this QB. Get him in the best position to operate.
  15. Not saying I know but maybe these days the ACL is more like a flat tire than that axle. Or, like a broken belt. I try to stay open minded until I just can’t anymore. These are the last days of not knowing, truth is coming. You know, like winter is coming. We are going to see more truth in about maybe 4-5 weeks
  16. i was sort of astounded that Tepper had a limit. That would have been a really interesting situation to be inside.
  17. We're just little cash cows in here.
  18. well yeah, that is a maybe. It’s just what I thought they would do, not necessarily what I would do. They have done so much that I would never do, the equation would have completely different variables. I’ll stop there.
  19. I try to be civil and reasonable. I don’t always succeed. I’ve been watching recordings and enjoying my Sundays free. I don’t look at anything that would give me the scores if I can hjelp it but even if I did it hasn’t mattered. I watch to see them play. I fast forward through all timeouts and challenges etc, and much of the play clock until they get to the line. I rewind a lot of stuff. It's still hard to see really what’s going on with their broadcast angles. Anyway, you can check out but keep up that way. Works for me. If Young does not put it together this year in a legit way and they don’t respond the way I want them to, which is drop him to backup at that point (salary is guaranteed) I am probably done after 30 years. Big decision but I can’t take the ineptitude much longer. I’m not happy with the general direction of the NFL, only thing keeping me is the home team. And Tepper has pretty much destroyed that so far.
  20. And they just weren’t drafting a C they would start, this year. Too much on Bryce. I want one but saw that coming.
  21. I think 30 is the going age that people give as the top of the hill for RBs and they fall off fast. Usually. Whatever that math turns out to be in Brooks’ case... there it is. There IS a variable of college carries, tread on the tires, and some people feel like more tread left after college is more you’ll have for the NFL.
  22. 'They're' hoping and ‘we’ are killing their hope with our skepticism. Pretty much. They don’t like that. The margins are so thin. And ‘we' understand that and are worried about it. ‘They' aren’t.
