  1. That is the sensible approach. You have to earn that.
  2. I can count on you to research that stuff why should I? Joking. I know what the people say I just think it is inadequate. I believe it is a probably a function of FF or something because rarely in every day talk do people refer to a 20 yard pass as a deep throw. But they need their grading system. I am really not aiming this at Young’s arm, not trying to stretch the definition past what he can throw just to dog him. Haven’t used the term rainbow, duck, rope, any of that descriptive stuff. I do not give a poo what some writing somewhere says when I have eyes. That is pretty much it.
  3. Somebody claimed 15 yards is a deep throw. You could take a sack and need to complete a deep ball to get a first down. It seems pretty silly.
  4. You are injecting this because it suits your narrative and fanhood IMO. Because it is really just some stat keeping crap. Does ANYONE think DCs are looking at a 15 yard pass as a deep throw? Maybe with us in 2023 but the real world? I just completely disagree. And don’t care what bullshit people use to justify it. Okay? Deep is over the top. Attempting to get behind the defense. A fuging 15 yard pass does poo to stretch a defense. Maybe it stresses them but it does not stretch them.
  5. That’s messed up. Daryle Lamonica could have never gotten his his nickname throwing 15 passes. The mad thrower?
  6. And there are people who can do that. Like one of 5 or something. And at 40 the odds are better. I am not asking for that but at the same time don’t want to settle for that ‘20 yards is a deep ball’ thing. good night
  7. Did you see that thing about his injury rehab actually strengthening his arm?
  8. Yeah okay. I need better than lumping a 20 yard throw in with a 50 yard dime. For instance. There is a difference, okay? It can be rather large. NFL, PFF, DGAF, ESPN, none of them ask me but they should because they have it wrong.
  9. I would never use that standard. Don’t care what they say. PFF, pfff.. This is sort of like what is left or right of center politically, the goal posts shift according to the goals of the person setting the boundary lines. I really can’t agree to this 20 yard standard because it completely devalues a true deep ball. 40 inthe air, or in PJ’s case, was it 63? It was crazy. Ansd it wouyld only rate ‘the same as a 20 yard throw. That just doesn’t work for me and it has absolutely nothing to do with Bryce Young. Really, it doesn’t. Which, I get that a Young fan would be fine calling 20 yards downfield ‘deep’ but I don’t think the world would make that a standard just for him. So I am not saying that is the reason. I think ‘chunk plays’ serves to fill the gap and reward thew 20 yard type of stuff.
  10. I’d just as soon have kept PJ as what they did.
  11. Chunk plays are 20 plus. About deep balls. If I am at the 20 facing the end zone. I’m in the Red Zone. Throwing to the goal line makes it a deep ball? So 20 is deep. And 40 is deep. And 50 is deep. It doesn’t really synch up to my way of looking at things. 20 has to be medium to me.
  12. I don’t think a ball 20 yards downfield should be considered a deep ball. Because it isn’t.
  13. Is this one of the ones where he doesn’t blame Young he blames about everyone else? That’s pretty much what I remember from those. Since those problems are all addressed, allegedly, everything will be great I’m sure.
  14. Yes. I was there from the start, before the draft. I never was able to understand the love and still waiting to see that justified. We’ll see, for sure soon enough but he seems to need to go 100% effort to get any zip and power. Not at all ideal. The footwork showed issues at his pro day.
  15. There are just gonna be things they shouldn’t try to do. You don’t force your weak points into your game, I mean why would you want to? Maybe do it so infrequently you have the surprise element. If he isn’t 1 of 11, but is more like .75 of 11? That’s on the scheme architect to account for.
  16. Sounds like we got Ted Ginn redo with Johnson.
  17. Well, what they spent on Young, they went through the coaching thing last year, they have a new coach brought here to fix him. They have invested in all this around him. They are going to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ’t’s and due diligence and all that, which they should do. It just takes time we really don’t want to invest but it is the prudent path. It’s going to be some sadly funny poo if after investing in the OL, all the weapons, they won’t throw it deep. I can’t believe that is going to be the case.
  18. Yet that is what gets some people going. Ridicule and derogatories might finally get a reaction that brings about change. Not saying that’s Young but it is definitely Smitty.
  19. They have to find something he can consistently win at. Something to hang a hat on, and do it to death until they find something else. And then do those two things to death. Rinse and repeat. I wonder how far that will go. The only thing I see is what we have already seen, I can’t imagine something much different. I am sure that is my lack of creativity and low potential for outside the box thinking, and not Young’s limitations talking.
  20. They didn’t have the term FOMO back then, it is really good to see awareness of that concept brought forward into people’s consciousness. But it's like, never trash your system for the 1st version of a major upgrade.
  21. Blood and guts. What’s he got to say about our offense this year?
  22. I do wasn’t it a punt? Couldn’t put 3 guys on him at the LOS on a return. Blood and guts. Weren’t we down to Goings and then they put him out right away? What an unlevel playing field, after we had such a good team that year.
  23. Comes down to if you take a Pittsburgh WR away and a Carolina WR away, you might look at track record to predict which team might stand a better chance of actually replenishing said talent.
