  1. There are things he can do to fug it up, his margins are small. That sack or strip sack, once they hit the ground it is anybody's ball. For instance. He did do a good job with keeping defenders off the ball and by a nice margin but some were close. It is a game of inches at times. I usually hate watching him play, but I enjoyed watching this game almost as much as the Vegas game. So let's see that every week. Did you guys see new plays? Maybe that weren't on film? I thought I did. I hope we have plenty more because NFL eats up what you show them. Stuff could get a little harder when they get more film on some more things.
  2. If he disagreed he wouldn't have made it public, from a subordinate position. Job security. Plus Fitterer is his friend. Suleiman, maybe he was right on the one thing people know about, but we don't know what went with or against in the many other meetings they surely had.
  3. Yeah, something like this. We need to get his understudy in the pipeline and when he is done, we won't be. So however long he goes, great. When junior overtakes him we move junior up and find a new understudy. It ain't that hard. edit: Travelle Wharton was really good for us, I think he was 3rd rounder.
  4. I understand everyone being happy but let's try not to turn it into another schoolgirl crush festival. No offense. It isn't slower WRs that cause wild overthrows. They have all kinds of practice. It is his mechanics keeping things under control that allows a more efficient conversion of energy, let's call it, into the throw, that we are seeing. He was doing it with horrible mechanics and needing to put 100% effort to get the ball that far. That totally fugs your accuracy. There is video of Mahomes and Carr on this site that I have linked with them throwing under control vs all out trying to get the most velocity on a radar gun. It shows exactly what I am saying. I didn't make it up. I have been telling y'all for a year at least. It really is all about the margins with Young and he has to be very attentive to his technique to get the most from what he has. He is doing that now and this is the new 'what he can do'. And this is it, there ain't no more. You decide if that's enough for you I guess. But you are noticing better ball flight and zip I am pretty sure, it comes from there. Again go look at the Buffalo drive in preseason and you will see that same thing you see lately. To do that stuff you have to be willing to stand tall come what may, sometimes. Hopefully you have protection to step up safely but the difference making happens when you stand in there and finish just ahead of a hit. ..... And btw, the straw that broke the camel's back when Tepper fired Reich, was because he couldn't fix it in a week. One of the last issues that I remember was about Young's footwork. You know, I guess it is normal that 10 weeks into the season someone just realized, or finally accepted, that Young had major fundamentals issues. It took them a lot longer to realize it isn't an overnight fix. And my issues with Young were specifically over this stuff. Major rehab job, you don't pay what we paid for that. Hopefully he is 'fixed' and it 'took' and he doesn't go back into his little safe space of the old mechanics like he did week 1. If he hangs with the new, this is what you are working wth now. We just saw his ceiling.
  5. I thought Jackson was having the bad game until I saw JC's numbers. They were picking on him.
  6. And then it leaks from somewhere. Bye bye leverage, have fun over at Brian Burns' house.
  7. Because one dimensional. edit: that Spiderman, he was talking that poo when we picked him I thought it was bullshit then. But I gave comic books up with puberty, basically.
  8. It wasn't that he sucked it was more that he sucked for that kind of money.
  9. It is still too early to crown Canales but he has a track record with a couple of guys that trended up when working with him. One, right now. At the same time he and Idzik also have strong WR background. That is a good match for our situation so I want it to work, and think it could.
  10. Stopped clock did better lol. Calvin Johnson I guess you mean. Yeah boy, he was an all timer. I think Millen went 3 straight years with their top pick being WRs. Overall he was terrible. I looked up Johnson's tenure and drsaft spot (#2 overall right behind Jamarcus Russell lol), and his second year they were 0-16 and Millen was gone. Millen was a really good player as I remember it. I just don't want to be here a year from now looking at a sorry ass neglected defense again. You don't feed it for 3 years this is what you get. We gave up 30 and thought the defense looked better lol.
  11. To me, yeah we should have taken the big offer but people act like that was right before we gave him to the NYG. It was a year and a half earlier wasn't it? They wanted him but then he played his leverage game. We did the right thing for sure in moving him and saving the salary he'd cost. Also, I think he just bought himself journeyman status because they will cut him as soon as they can he has no history there and they have a new regime coming too. So it looks bleak for Mr Burns in NYC, he should have made us a good deal and stayed where he was valued.
  12. We have half a team now as a result of that the policy you endorse, all offense. Go and look at what we have given the defense over the last three years. I don't want to do 4 straight years like that. Tell me you do. It doesn't even matter to me who is good on offense in the first round unless we are replacing the QB and I'm not sure I would want to use that pick to do it for that matter. edit: Trade back to where the edge rusher is proper value if you feel that way about them.
  13. I think I'm gonna get a bottle of Colt .45 on ice for Sunday.
  14. Matt Millen used to do that poo, spend all his first round picks on WRs. He is not in the GM HOF, let's put it that way. If Bryce is the guy he doesn't need the first WR off the board. Get him a 3rd round stud.
  15. I have been on that for a while, I agree. It is the mechanics for him that get him to where he might be able to stick in the NFL. Because when he does not focus on getting his base right he loses velocity and also it delays his release slightly. He doesn't have velocity to spare. Also, he nutted up and stood taller and stepped into things and that made a huge improvement. He is throwing off the back foot into pressure but his feet aren't running away at least and it has worked out lately. He threw the deeper one to Sanders like that. That's much better than turning your back and running. On the realism side, I don't think some of those plays vs KC were on film. I don't remember seeing a couple, there could be more that they put in over the bye that I didn't identify as new. I still don't know how he is going to see where to throw it once people start studying what is working for us and figure out the spot he is throwing to. We'll see.
  16. I guess we are talking about Bryce having a weak arm by NFL QB standards. Which isn't news at this point.
  17. If it is lifesize, couple of days. That passing chart has at least ten throws deeper than his famous LA Charger edition. That isn't a bad thing.
  18. With his feet nailed to the floor. Just about everything he misses is when he leaves his feet unnecessarily. IIRC there was one in the back of the EZ early in the year that he did the same thing. I think his hands are good, he just has that proclivity to jump and make it a harder catch.
  19. I really doubt he needs to be shut down. Just make sure he is being honest about how it feels.
  20. The mechanics make a real difference with him. If he stays with the good mechanics you can see it in his throws. And you see it in his throws when he doesn't focus on them too. He doesn't have enough to ignore them. I mean, an off balance throw 12 yards away is one thing but in other cases he needs to have that poo right for it to be good enough.
  21. We were short on TEs before with people hurt and Sanders had to block, which he isn't ready for blocking NFL people. Or wasn't, for sure. We had Franks and Tremble yesterday after Sanders went down. Oh boy.
  22. Yeah I felt the same way about watching the game. Most fun game since Vegas. I was saying all summer that we shouldn't judge things the first half of the year due to everything on offense being new, a new HC, green as they come. Like, the OL would take time and the offense would take time and the coach would take time and the QB would take time. He was the monkey wrench in my predictions by playing so horrible early but the rest of the stuff is tracking. I thought we'd have seen Brooks by game 5 or so... wrong too on that one and we still don't know anything. But right now they have everything they need in place to evaluate things.
  23. The playing well part, depends on what happens going forward. It could have been a tease that will dig our hole deeper. In the small picture of one game, probably his best game. Green Bay wasn't as great as people think it was. More like one good quarter. Followed by two games of exactly nothing.
