Saints at Panthers - What Saints Fans Are Saying
Floppin replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Holy poo it's PFFL. He switched sides. That turncoat loser pharmacy tech. -
Tre wasn't great by any stretch but we've had much worse safety's. Besides, this isn't about Tre's playing skills anyhow.

You're trying to argue with me about something that I agree with which is why I've said that you clearly haven't understood my point and you obviously still haven't. I've been quit clear that I think that Brown likely should be starting, at no point during this whole thing have I said otherwise. I have been explaining the debate at hand which is why they had him as inactive, not the debate about why he's not a starter. Those are two separate discussions entirely.

I don't think it was underthrown. If it was thrown any further there's no way the receiver catches that inbounds. I think in a game situation that that ball never gets thrown, at least I would hope not.

Holy poo man, I have like 10 times now. But I'll do it one more time and this will seriously be the last. Rhule was asked about why Brown was not on the active gameday roster and his answer was because he's not versatile enough to be a game day backup. What this means is two fold. They believe he's not ready to start and due to his lack of versatility they don't value having him active as a game day backup. He literally plays one position and hasn't gained any additional experience elsewhere within our offense so if he's not starting then his value as a backup is extremely limited. Therefore, if they aren't going to start him he's going to remain inactive on game days UNTIL they are comfortable starting him, which they aren't yet. I have stated more than once that I don't necessarily agree with the fact that he's not yet a starter but I don't disagree with the reasoning that he's inactive if he's not.
-
I clarified a touch in an edit but I'm not sure it'll make much difference.
-
It's not contradictory in that Rhule was answering questions specifically about why he wasn't active not why he wasn't a starter but his answer explained both reasons and it's that he believes he's not ready to start and he's not versatile enough to be an active backup. I've explained it more than once. I'm not going to bother doing so again. You just clearly don't understand the point that I'm making.

Not that I agree with the decision to remove the stadium initialized chant before the game but I have always felt, having attended various sporting events, that organic chants of the same variety always felt more satisfying than the ones that are contrived through the video board or signs. Having said that, most arenas/stadiums have a healthy mix of both. Almost all popular chants are lead by the team/stadium at some point during the game.

I said before that he should probably be starting. The discussion you quoted me on wasn't about why he's not starting but rather about why he's inactive. It's because the team isn't ready to start him and he doesn't have value as an active backup versus more versatile players. He will be active when he's named as a starter and not before for this reason.

For my money, Paradis and Daley were far worse that Elflein last week. Hopefully with Miller coming back and Daley not seeing much playing time that will help cover some of Paradis' suck.

It just depends on what part of NC you're from. The NC/SC rivalry perspective comes out on this board mainly for two reasons, the Two Teams One State dealio for the Panthers specifically and because the team is centered regionally in an area with a traditional NC/SC rivalry dynamic being so close to the border. Growing up in NW NC we could have given two fugs about SC and almost all of our ire was directed at Tennessee.
-
Even billionaires don't walk away from 100's of millions of dollars of their own money invested. Baring some catastrophe the teams not going anywhere. Don't let me stop you're worrying though. Panic as you see fit.

If we're talking drug and addiction issues, Eastern NC stands just as tall as WNC. The eastern piedmont and coastal plains are a wasteland of addiction and poverty.
-
Tepper has shown nothing but a commitment to the area. Ya'll have lost your mind if you think he's planning on moving the team outside of the Carolinas.
-
Agrarian isn't quite the right word but WNC is by and large an agriculturally driven economy. Almost every WNC county has some form of agriculture/livestock as their largest economic contributor. It's been Christmas trees in Watauga county for like 50 years for instance. I didn't mean that statement as an assessment of the overall poverty rates, but they generally are related.
-
Oh, I'm aware that Boone is unique to WNC. Just wanted to give my 2 cents on the WNC narrative. There's pockets of NFL support for various reasons but for the most part the majority of WNC is economically agrarian and rural so no one cares about pro sports at all.

Yes, but again he's only better than the backups at his position specifically. He's not versatile enough to have active as a backup so until the team is ready to make him the starter he will, baring some more injuries, be inactive on game day. He's not jelling by sitting the bench regardless and he would be limiting the team's options in the event of an injury on the line that wasn't his specific position. He's still getting work in practice obviously.

I use express since they have the best router VPN on the market. From what I understand the project that these people are/were involved in for the UAE is not related to ExpressVPN directly and only connected by virtue of one of the agents involved being the CIO. The sale of the business to Kape is somewhat concerning but, much the same as the Project Raven concern, it's more an ethical one than a functional one. I doubt very much that most people have anything to be concerned about as your VPN will work like a VPN still. People overly concerned about meta data collection (something that you're just going to have to get over in today's informational age unfortunately) might want to explore other options but the notion that you're being spied on directly is preposterous and generally stems from an over-inflated sense of importance. Of course I support anyone who decided to switch their VPN based on their own personal ethical choice and I'll probably explore that option myself, however, unless you're an activist against Israel or something the odds that you have anything to functionally worry about are close to 0%.

I was born and raised in Boone and my dad still lives there although I haven't in almost 15 years. App State obviously reigns supreme but I never had any problem finding plenty of Panther fans around.

This thread sucks.

Well they at least know the various positions and could therefore theoretically play them, whereas Brown can't. It's unfortunate but that's the reality. He'll be inactive until they are ready to start him. I don't know why this is really contraversial. I'm not saying that he shouldn't already be starting, I think he most likely should be. But there's no point in him being active over a more positionally versatile player if he's not starting.
-
Underrated comment. This is exactly the reason. The staff doesn't see him as versatile enough to be one of the active three OL backups. When they're ready to start him is likely when he will be active and only then.
-
Agreed but I suspect that Snow follows Rhule or retires if/when Rhule hypothetically leaves.
-
He's taken others and was scheduled more after ours but he took the job. He's also turned down some, like the Bears for instance. Point is that he clearly wasn't against coaching in the NFL.
-
He had and he also interviewed for the HC job that Gase won with the Jets. It's how he first met Darnold and he had an interview/meeting with Darnold during the process.
