  1. My first restaurant job ever was at Woodlands in blowing rock which is also now closed
  2. Yeah all those things existed during my life. By the time I could drink the old Murphy's had burned down and moved to downtown though.
  3. I knew Nick and his brother fairly well. Used to party with Nick a bit.
  4. Lol same. Boone takeout was started by some kids I went to watauga with. I used that poo all the time.
  5. Id park behind dirty Murphs and bounce between the two all night.
  6. Yep I basically lived at Murphy's and portofinos at one point of my life lol
  7. Does the bagelry still deliver or has that been relegated to the gig economy? I used to get overstuffed bagelicious delivered as a hangover cure many moons ago.
  8. I used to go to Parthenon for $.25 wings which also no longer exists. Most of the places that I used to go to when I lived there don't exist anymore except for Macado's and Boone Saloon and those were the two (especially the saloon) that I went to the least. Portofino's is also closed/demolished.
  9. It's one of the places that I always visit. The food is always good as well as the beer. That and I went to school with the owners.
  10. Also Murphy's no longer exists and yadda yadda
  11. Well yeah, downtown is historically protected so there's not much they can do but it's still changed a ton. The old Appalachian theater has been completely revamped into a true venue again, and there's a new upscale hotel with rooftop bar called the Horton. Macado's is completely different with an outside bar and seating area that the remodeled/connected from the adjoining space and the old High Country Press building is Lost Province brewing. Among many other changes.
  12. I drive through it every day. Two of my projects are up there, one up 194 between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk and the other off 221 between Boone and Blowing rock. It's insanely different.
  13. The last time I lived in boone was roughly 12 years ago. And in that time it's changed an immeasurable amount. I'll be 39 and the time that that town has changed in my lifetime is absolutely startling.
  14. You don't think so? The town has almost completely been rebuilt outside of the historic downtown buildings over the last decade. I don't know if "hasn't changed much at all" is very accurate. It's crazy how much it's changed in my opinion
  15. here's one of them from the App State camera man that was beside them that's also good but I'm still looking for the video from the guy that gets tackled at the end. I can't find the one from the camera man that got tackled anymore but I saw it come through my twitter feed yesterday immediately afterwards but now there's like 50 billion videos of the play everywhere so it's impossible to find one video almost.
  16. Thats literally the one that i posted so it's obviously not the one I meant....
  17. One of the camera men who gets tackles there at the end actually had an awesome shot if you look it up
  18. I'm guessing they were watching the play with their eyes rather than the screen and didn't adjust the angle until after the catch.
  19. Yeah I did too, it was laughably bad. I'm very thankful for ESPN+ it being owned by the Disney overlords notwithstanding.
  20. I forgot to eat anything watching that game hah. Time for some celebration sausages.
