Not trying to be a smartass , but....... Can't afford Andrew Luck? Grab Gabbert. Luck...... 6'4, 234lb, 32 5/8" arm length. 10" hands. Gabbert 6'4, 234lb, 33" arm length.. 10" hands. Luck did a little better in the broad jump, but Gabbert posted a better 40 time.

Panthers and Cam Newton in contract talks
Pox 08 replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
That much guaranteed........would probably be a good deal. 6yr.....$90M, $85M guaranteed would also be an insane deal. Averages around $15M a year, but he'll have the joy that most qbs don't have......the joy of knowing that no matter what happens, he'd still get an insane guaranteed amount of money. I believe Wilson's will be 6yr, $92M, all guaranteed.- 218 replies

Panthers and Cam Newton in contract talks
Pox 08 replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
Brady and Peyton are two of the qbs that stand out as taking less money for the better of their team. Then again... Brady had already had one or two mega contracts that played out, and he is married to a billionaire. Peyton also played out a mega contract or two before taking pay cuts. Cam has not had his first mega contract yet. On his second one, he may take a little less for the betterment of the team. lol- 218 replies

Cam Newton should be paid more than Luck or Wilson
Pox 08 replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wtf does anyone bring up the Colts' lone losing record. Then acting like it took a zeus like effort from Luck to carry them to wins. All they needed was average qb play to win about 9 games in '11. Painter was and is the worst back-up qb in the NFL. Anyone with half a brain could see why the Colts kept him out there... Orlovsky is "aiight", but was basically Jimmy Clausen's rookie year out there... The Colts had enough time to look for a solid journeyman qb.....but opted not to.- 181 replies

Agreed. Saints ,Falcons and of course, us....would wreck the Texans. I would even give the bucs the benefit of the doubt against the Texans. Those little bastards did go up to Pitt and beat the Steelers last season.- 218 replies

I'm guessing because of the Jags. Three year span. Panthers have won 26 games. Saints have won 25 games Falcons have won 23 games Bucs have won 13 games Colts have won 33 games. Texans have won 23 games Titans have won 15 games Jags have won 9 games. Also.......I would love it if our division housed rival qbs similar to the ones the Jags, Titans and Texans field. With the Jags and Texans, I'm just like - "Who cares?" When thinking of their qb situations over the last few years. I'm not taking away from Luck or the Colts, just sportin' a little division pride when doing a 3 year span.- 218 replies

lol... one season our division was the worst in the nfl. Colts division rivals vs Panthers' division rivals. The three other teams in the Colts division have collectively won 47 games over the last three years. The 3 teams for the Panthers' division have collectively won 61 games in the same three year period.- 218 replies

He probably won't be breaking banks.......but, high guaranteed isn't just for the elite. Cutler got $54M guaranteed Ryan received $42M guaranteed. Stafford, $41M guaranteed. Alex Smith, $45M guaranteed. If enough non-elite qbs start getting $40M+ guaranteed.......then it starts to become the new standard.- 218 replies

Wouldn't that piss off any qb? Gross retires...........and Cam learns that his new LT, will be the worst RT in the league from the year prior. It is months later and even I'm still pissed at our original plan for the Oine. Steelers destroying our Oline and Cam, with just three people.......while sending 8 into coverage, to lock down our Subpar WR unit (minus Benji).- 218 replies

No qb wants a kaep type of contract. Especially not one on a team that opened last season with Bell and Chandler as the starting tackles. We've had Cam on a discount for 4 years now, being the first team to draft a #1 overall under the new rookie wage scale........and we've failed to build around him. Now that he has gotten his ass kicked behind some of the worst Oline line-ups in franchise history.....some want him to take a discount under the promise that we'll build around him more.- 218 replies

I know I am. His upper leg and lower leg are connected via a piece of weak string, imo.

DGB Considered "Best WR to Come Out since Calvin Johnson."
Pox 08 replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
Will be all about his speed.... If he is compared to Megatron. What makes Megatron so special is he is built like a big TE, but is lightning quick for his size. If DGB can maintain that weight and his 40 time be somewhere close to Megatron.....he will be highly sought after, if, of course, he gives a good interview, workout and convinces teams that he is a changed man. -

He did look a little too skinny... maybe he's trying to bulk up for the NFL? If he can stay at the weight........and run close to the speed of Megatron... -

You're right on still needing a speedster.. Though, honestly, they may have faith in Philly being that speedster next season. If we get another big, athletic Wr , that can catch the ball over defenders.......to pair up with Benji, and Philly improves..........then our WR unit goes from being a weakness to being a strength. -

I think Benji + Funchess would be a killer combo. -

Did someone really just compare DGB to Hitler? lol... I believe we are getting a glimpse into how the mind of a White Knight works. -

I would draft DGB........and put him on the kind of short leash that the Cowboys used for Dez earlier in his career. Browns and Jags played the "you're an adult, you can do what you wish" card... Cowboys said F that, you are on curfew and we'll be watching your every move" -

York is probably under the impression that any coach could have had that kind of success with his team. . I hope he falls face first into a big, steaming pile of reality this upcoming season., I'm hoping that giant pile of poo ends up being his team.

1. Davis May be the only one that may truly have his ear.

Chances are no team. Especially If Goodell keeps Hardy on the commish list, while the nfl does a very slow, very long, investigation.
-
Funny thing would be if the investigation takes another full season.........and then in '16 after he is taken off the commish list.....he finally gets his official "punishment" of 6 games.

Has Voth changed his opinion of Hardy's future?
Pox 08 replied to Nick_81's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's all about future earnings for young players.. especially ones that are looking for long term mega contracts. -

Did you expect him to walk around with a slow shuffle the entire season, as he kept his head down with a permanent. tear cascading down his cheek? I can't speak for him, I don't know him...... I do know if I was put in a situation where I was somewhat strong armed into signing a piece of paper to put me on a new kind of list so the NFL can try to save face.. and it seemed like I let down my entire team, and the fans, by associating with a bad egg, I would probably stay away until it was over.. out of fear of being a distraction to my teammates and pissing off the owner even more, an owner that values public image above anything else. That's just me. That is assuming the owner or someone close to the owner on the food chain, didn't personally ask me to stay away until it all died down a little.
