definitely agree with that. The shining was the first king book i ever read so it wasn't as hackneyed for me. plus it isn't exactly an "alien spider." Not a huge fan of the endings in the book or the movie. The historical perspective of the hotel IS the story though and it's something that feels tacked on and detached in the movie.

love kubrick but the book is better imo.

i'm really enjoying the series but if you guys believe that you need to read more books. Tolkein is a poor measure of quality writing.

been reading Transmetropolitan. Vertigo comic. F*cking fantastic. Also, a buddy gave me a copy of Game of Thrones, haven't watched the show but the book is great. Sorry I didn't read it sooner.

Just finished Temeraire. Not usually my type of book: a "Horatio Hornblower" or "Master and Commander" naval serial style novel about the Napoleonic Wars with one slight historical adaptation... Dragons. Not usually into Dragon books, this one was pretty damn good. Vivid, tactically interesting, very detailed and quick reading. Not gonna change your life but great for a long plane ride or vacation.

figure you might know this but it's an iggy pop cover. the rest of their stuff is ok imo. not great. prog rock.
