JC not this ish again. Brees: 80,000 career passing yards 5 seasons of 5,000+ yards 10 seasons of 30+ TD passes Career completion percentage of 67.7% 37 games where he threw 4 TDs. Best WRs were Colston, Thomas, Cooks, Lance Moore and TE Jimmy Graham/ Shockey. The only first rounder was Shockey (and Bush but he was a RB). Thomas was a stud... drafted with the 47th pick. That was the highest picked WR he threw to. 47th. Graham was a stud. Shockey was a stud. The rest of the receivers would have been jags on most other teams. Brees never had a first round WR to throw to. Colston never even made a pro bowl. Oh, and no spygate to benefit from. Prime Brees was UNBEATABLE in the dome. A bad day for Brees was 2 TDs. He was a 4d chess grand master. Brees has a wallet that probably says bad mf’er. Bryce has a goofy ass backpack. Listen, Drew Brees put up unreal numbers throwing to mostly jags in an era that highlighted running the ball, the receivers could get mugged and QBs got lit the f up on the regular without penalty. Hell, they went so far as to make a tv segment (jacked up!!!) to applaud the violence of the game. He never even had a first round WR. Brees was a better QB than Peyton Manning. There, I said it. Bro is on the short list for best QB ever. This is facts with some of my own personal opinion mixed in, but mostly facts. Those who keep pushing this narrative, did y’all actually watch Brees play? His game is in no way similar to Bryce’s. Brees on this team is a deep playoff contender and Tet would look like prime megatron. Im sorry y’all, I know I sound like a complete homer, but when I hear hyperbole that is insultingly obtuse, it gets under my skin.

Bryce needs a cheat code (Chuba, Rico) where he is always playing ahead of the down and distance. It’s the reason why his yardage is always so low. Problem being is that he himself is not capable of playing in god mode, essential in a true franchise guy so high draft capital can be relegated towards the defense.

Canalas’ play calling next week
Gapanthersfan replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was about to say the same thing. DC would rather see his plan work than to win football games… pretty much the anti-adapter to what conditions allow… The ability to adapt is essential to winning consistently in the NFL. His approach is completely backwards and counter to what is actually needed. -
In Dan I trust.

I’m an optimist thru and thru. I love any win this team can muster, and Bryce did what he could to keep the team in it, but he’s why the team was out of it to begin with. I like the guy, but he is not… he’s just not it… and I was swayed by the way he finished last season, but his physical limitations will never be overcome. A one arm tackle stopped him in his tracks en route for 6, among several other plays where an even average starter in the league succeeds. A franchise QB is supposed to be his own cheat code. Bryce needs a cheat code dude, that is not him, to win. Chuba CARRIED (literally) his ass last season. Thielen bailed him out EVERY game he played in last season. Today: Rico turned in one of the best games in franchise history, Tet was unguardable and put up at least 100 yards on his own (PI yards included), and the defense basically pitched a shutout after going down big so they could beat one of the worst teams in the NFL.

(Potential) Top 2026 HC Candidates

And this is where I am at as well. This franchise needs structure and discipline, which will not happen with a young guy coach who is still trying to learn how to do his job. -
What I would now give to see a Darnold roll out 30 yard laser to Tet on a post route for 6.

Well said. My valid concern is this: Say DC does survive to see ‘his’ QB. how many viable brain cells will have survived the hell he will have gone through up to that point? Just think if he has 1 more year of Bryce forced on him.
-
He is the exact everything this team needs right now, but no amount of winning would be worth destroying the soul of the greatest football genius that has ever played for the Panthers. He would never be a yes man, nor would he suffer fools, so he definitely need not apply.

People like to throw around the phrase that ‘it couldn’t get any worse’ when in actuality it can and saying that is nothing more than hyperbole. Gentlemen, I submit that at this very moment, the Panthers defense accurately wears the ‘it could not be any worse’ label. I’m not a change for the sake of changing person, but Evero is not the guy. Even the worst of rosters will eventually show an inkling of progress. I refuse to believe this is the worst roster in NFL history from a talent perspective, but last season it was the worse performing, ever…. And the DC keeps his job?!?! Just think about that. Worst in the history of the NFL and he keeps his job? By that standard, what does DC’s leash look like? You serious Clark? In sane circumstances, every defensive coach gets walking papers after having fielded the worst NFL D of all time.. but not here. Makes you wonder who is really piloting this laughing stock…. And that is the guy had the gall to send Steve packing… but I digress. Evero, regardless of the circumstances he was given, just can’t be allowed to continue here. Digressing is simply not possible when you’re the worst of all time. Literally anything has the potential for improvement. His chance of turning this around at any point is 0.0.

New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
Gapanthersfan replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yup. Physics is just not on his side. How he managed to con his way in to the starting QB of THE college football program in the country, playing under the greatest college FB coach of all time… And then double down as the first pick in the draft?!? My God man. -
New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
Gapanthersfan replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce plays to not die. The only defenders who don’t outweigh him by 100 pounds are corners, safeties and some LBs. think about that. EVERY lineman he sees every week has at least 100 on him. Broski is just trying to live out his last days in the NFL and not sustain a life altering injury. Similar to XL, Bryce has his money, just a WHOLE lot more. He’s set. Barring financial insanity, he’ll never have money problems. He knows he’s not cut out for this line of work. He lacks the tools and besides that, has no dog in him. -
The NFL is a small fraternity and all these dudes know each other. They talk and know what’s what. Hey John, how’d that interview with Tepper go? … wait, he said what? I’d argue that Frank 100% knew what was coming his way. Not his first rodeo with an owner like Tepp. He knew the probably of getting lied to was about 100%, and I’d say he played his hand masterfully. Keep letting BY get killed by left sided speed rushers until Tep had no choice but to fire him before BY ended the season in traction. Canales is in WAY over his head and I’m sure is praying to get fired, but he lacks the savvy that Frank had.

Jaycee Horns post game Comments

Just do your job. Horn, Jackson, Chuba and Brown are about the only ones who understand what that means. No amount of practice will help a quitter. -
The franchise needs to reboot and get back to their roots.

I just don’t see these guys playing for Dave Canales. guys played their hearts out for Steve. They played with heart because they never wanted to feel like they let him down. That he would be disappointed if they half assed it. They had respect for Steve. It wasn’t fear, it was respect. It was palpable. It was undeniably Steve’s team. He was the leadership that they desperately needed. No, Steve was not leading this team to SB, but this team needed, and still needs a Steve. No where does it feel like it is undeniably Canales’ team. Guys don’t play for him. if they had any ounce of respect for him or each other, then yesterday would have never happened. They definitely don’t respect Bryce, but they did respect Sam. QB is a problem, but this goes much deeper. This team needs an alpha man piloting the ship at HC first, alpha QB second. Someone who will tell Tepp to stuff it with his ‘suggestions’ … and therein lies the core issue. -
My gut: Tepper really bought a stadium and an NFL ‘team’ got thrown in to the mix as a bonus. The stadium is really where the $ is at. Event venue. Big time college games. Concerts. Real estate value, tax breaks… leverage enough tax $$ so he can renovate his toy, and then 86 the team to some other city, all while keeping his money printing apparatus in place. Fielding a perpetual embarrassment only helps to grease the skids.

These are grown ass men with a very limited time to reap financial benefit directly tied to winning. They’re not doing this for funzies. We’ll get em next year… blah blah Building a culture. They don’t want to hear that. They need contract #2 which will hopefully set them up for life. They need to win. Now… and they know when they’re being lied to. Anything short of the org putting them in the best possible position to win screws them over. They only person grown ass alpha men will respect is another grown ass alpha man.
