Training Camp Photos and Observations - Day 4
Ruff replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
@Zod - what does the tackle situation look like behind Bell/Chandler? -
I think this is the most important and the one most overlooked. Spartanburg is very, very hot. If you don't properly hydrate (don't drink sodas or coffee), you can find yourself very sick very fast. Moving permanently to Gibbs has helped that. I remember standing along that god awful fence for a couple of hours. That was horrible. At least now there is proper seating.

The real question is... What does NJP's source say?
-
Hopefully he's released. The last time we had a situation like this occur, a WR was involved and is now in prison...
-
Confirmed. Communicating threats. :/
-
At Iowa, he was more of an inline blocking te. They didn't use his receiving ability as much as they should have. Also, I don't think he's come in for a visit. At least, not that I've read.
-
Which would probably work out. Finding a guy that could maybe start his first year and definitely start his second year is hard to do moving out of the first round.
-
Could be a really good player, but not a guy I'd spend the 28th overall pick on.

Of course there hasn't been any actual noted contact, that's against league rules assuming that the coach is employed in the league. However, it says that there is enough interest "so much so" that one person knows. I'd say that's enough contact. I know you enjoy adding your subtle "I know more than you" to most of your posts, but it's possible that you read into things differently than someone else. That doesn't mean you're right. And with that, I'm doing responding to you. Ever. So, please humor me and do the same for me.
-
You didn't hear the actual report on television, did you?
-
"One coach knows they're interested". Sounds like more than a background check. Or, they called someone for the check then that person let it slip to the candidate. Not sure.
-
From RotoWorld, even though it's a re-hash.
-
Could be, but I feel like the rules of colleges might be similar to the NFL. I'm not sure how it works, though. It seems like it means that we've contacted someone who isn't in the NFL anymore (Smith, Chucky, Cowher). But, yeah, it could be someone in college.
-
Yeah, there was a report that David Shaw said that he wasn't going to leave Stanford any time soon. He said something along the lines of, "Tell me which NFL city is better than Palo Alto, and then explain that to my wife".
-
It could imply that the candidate that has been reached out to is Lovie Smith, who is not currently employed in the NFL. I don't think any restrictions would stop us from letting him know that we are interested. I feel like this story has some merit, but it also has to do with making sure Rivera knows there is a fire burning red hot under his ass, and just because he beat a lowly Giants' team doesn't mean that his job is 100% safe.

That's the worst offensive line play I think I've ever seen. The right side, both Bell and Scott, looked nonexistent. It did improve later in the game, but that was with committing Hartsock and a chip block, lessening the number of eligibles on the offense. If I were to fire anyone today, I would start with Matsko.
-
Not at all. I definitely don't give it a high rating. Probably a D.
-
Helped and hurt. The run defense was awesome. Pressure? Great. The pass defense left much to be desired, the same as it has for the past couple of seasons. I'd say a C on defense is fair.

I don't think it's bashing to say AE hasn't done anything of note in preseason games. I mean, as a fan, what have you actually seen from the guy? Someone said he works hard? Cool, so does almost every other person in the NFL. Working hard does not equal a roster spot. I'm sure there are going to be better wide receivers cut in the next few hours. And while AE might be a cool folk/hometown hero, it's about having the best 53. Not about having feel good stories.
-
Coming from the guy whose signature says "The second mouse gets the cheese".
-
Clausen has been cut. @RapSheet #Panthers have released QB Jimmy Clausen, I'm told. Former 2nd rounder. So long Pickles.
-
Awesome thread, Zod. Much appreciated! If you get a chance, can you see how the QB Cameron is doing, how Lamont Bryant is doing, as well as how the kicker looks?
-
Articles like these make me fuging sick, honestly. Why hate on Cam? Oh, because Schein knew there was a scheduled interview coming up with Cam, so he wanted to make sure to get that out there to coincide with the interview to generate hits, got ya. NFLN is becoming more and more like ESPN. "We like player X because he's hot right now", "We hate player Y, and you should too!" It's ridiculous.
