  1. No need for Caldwell to stay involved, smh
  2. Moton's been a rock at RT and has been more than serviceable IMO. Not point in cutting him, even as a 6/1 release, that would open up $17.5m in cap space in a year where we already have $30m-plus in space and would have to spend a premium pick or money replacing him. Much more likely that we do a base salary restructure again which would open up ~$6.5m in additional space I believe. Personally I would like to roll out the Icky/BC/Bozeman/Corbett/Moton OL again and see if a better scheme or coach can have them playing to their 2022 2nd half potential while investing a mid-round pick in quality T depth.
  3. I'd rather see if Horn can finally make it through a season healthy than ship him off for a 5th round pick or some sort of mid/late round pick swap (e.g. Okudah only netting a 5th rounder from Atlanta). He's shown to be elite when on the field and he's basically in the final year of his deal (I very much doubt his 5th year option gets picked up), so might as well take the gamble at this point. Those who are saying sure if he nets a 1st round pick, that has absolutely zero shot of happening. Okudah was a top 3 pick that played 25 games over his first 3 seasons and only netted a 5th round pick: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/36159739/lions-trade-former-no-3-overall-pick-jeff-okudah-falcons
  4. Only if they lose. Can’t if they win.
  5. Monken calling an absolutely horrendous game thus far, yeesh. Run the fuging ball
  6. Seattle didn’t interview Macdonald during the period where initial interviews for bye week playoff teams so if they win today Seattle will need to wait until after the SB to interview him for the first time.
  7. Only by 1, I think: OC: Brown out, Idzik likely in ST: Tabor out, Smith likely in OL: Campen out
  8. I wouldn’t mind Russ as legit vet competition/bridge QB IF he is cut and we can bring him in for cheap. Could be a good mentor for Bryce. Doubt it happens but not against it.
  9. I hope we’re also relieving James Caldwell of his duties as well. I know he was apparently part of the GM search, but don’t believe his services are required any longer
  10. I think given the ties and reporting on Idzik, this is pretty clearly a procedural interview to satisfy the coordinator Rooney Rule requirement (must interview one external minority candidate for coordinator roles)
  11. Brown’s been interviewing for OC jobs (interviewed for Bears, Steelers) and we’ve requested Idzik and Marcus Brady for OC interviews, so it’s pretty well understood he won’t be back.
  12. Correcting my above note, Izzo’s been in Seattle for 6 years but has only been their ST coordinator since 2021. Still think he could be a logical candidate given the uncertainty in Seattle.
  13. Wonder if Canales pursues Larry Izzo, the Seahawks ST coach. Seattle’s ST unit ranked 6th and 3rd in Rick Gosselin’s annual ST rankings in 2023 and 2022, respectively. Izzo’s been the Seahawks’ ST coach for the past 6 years so presumably knows Canales. https://www.seahawks.com/team/coaches-roster/larry-izzo https://rickgosselin.com/the-2023-nfl-special-teams-rankings/
  14. Potential offensive staff candidates under Canales: OC: Brad Idzik WRs/PGC: Sanjay Lal RB: Chad Morton TE: Pat McPherson QB: ??? OL: Campen?
  15. Small nit, think he was being interviewed for a WR coach/PGC role given Waldron is the OC. I could see him coming here tho if Canales makes him OC - better “title” than he’d get with the Bears.
  16. I mean you should probably expect at least a year of trash next season. It's possible for a special one-year type turnaround a la Houston this season or McVay's first season in LA, but not likely. Remember, the 49ers handed Shanahan a six-year deal and he went 6-10 and 4-12 his first two seasons. He's 54-29 since with only one losing season.
  17. I totally get it. Everything that has made Tepper excited has so far been garbage, so definitely understand the skepticism.
  18. Yeah, Atlanta just announced Morris and the GM will each report directly to Blank. In Philly, Roseman and Sirianni each report directly to Lurie. Same for SF where Shanahan and Lynch report directly to York. This isn't anything new.
  19. Counterpoint - when do you ever hear about a person hired because of a mediocre/boring interview? Of course every hire is going to be where the candidate aced the interview.
  20. I mean I hear you but that's such a high bar. Even some that are considered amazing HCs have only one SB ring: Tomlin, Harbaugh, McVay, etc. And realistically the only way you're winning multiple SBs as a HC in today's NFL is with an elite/HOF QB. The only active coaches coming into this season with multiple SB wins was Belichick (with Brady) and Andy Reid (with Mahomes). People thought Reid was a choker until he finally won with Mahomes.
  21. I wouldn't have been upset if the Panthers hired Morris. The interim stint I don't hold against him and his proper HC record was 13 years ago. Raheem has paid his dues, he was promoted to HC when he was like 32 years old. He could flame out still, but low key I think this hire could work out better than if they had gotten Belichick.
  22. If we're only going to consider SB winning coaches as being successful hires than it's pretty much etched in stone that this hire won't pan out. But Taylor nearly won a SB a couple years back (3 point loss to the Rams).
  23. I'd still preferring pursuing Higgins as plan A given age (25 vs 30) and ability to grow with Bryce or whoever the QB in 2025 will be. Thielen and Evans would be great next year, but a little long in the tooth. That said I think Evans still has a good 3-4 years in him.
