Note that we HAVE to interview two external minority candidates in-person to satisfy the Rooney Rule, so I'm fairly certain Raheem Morris is going to get a second interview (I'm actually not even that against it, he was hired super young in Tampa, won 10 games his second season, and has worked on both sides of the ball). I bet the other in-person Rooney Rule candidate is Canales (he's hispanic so fulfills the Rooney Rule requirement). And honestly, if Ben Johnson goes elsewhere and Slowik stays in Houston, I wouldn't be all that opposed to either Morris or Canales.

My current guesses as to how these openings pan out: Chargers: Jim Harbaugh Falcons: Bill Belichick Raiders: Antonio Pierce Seahawks: Dan Quinn Commanders: Mike Vrabel or Ben Johnson Titans: Brian Callahan or Bobby Slowik Panthers: Ben Johnson or ???

Think the Falcons still have to interview two Rooney Rule candidates in-person before they can hire Belichick, but yeah I think he'll likely end up there. Wouldn't be surprised to see them bring in Leslie Frazier and another currently unemployed "candidate" (like the Raiders did with Kris Richard) so they can move quickly here.

Honestly a rehash and nothing you don't already know. Literally the only thing that was of note was that apparently Brown (GM candidate from NYG) interviewed last weekend. Everything else was just boilerplate stuff you've seen elsewhere.

As far as I know, neither of those 2 guys have scheduled interviews anywhere yet. Slowik has yet to interview with any of the 5 teams that have requested him (Panthers, Falcons, Titans, Seahawks, Commanders). I believe the Panthers are the only ones that have requested Canales so far, but given he was coaching Monday night, it's not a surprise he hasn't interviewed yet (and given they play Sunday, I wouldn't be surprised if he actually doesn't interview this week). edit: Slowik confirms he hasn’t taken any interviews yet

One quibble - currently (NFL) unemployed coaches are allowed to interview in-person. It's why Belichick, Harbaugh, et al have interviewed in person. Additionally, the Raiders have interviewed both Leslie Frazier and Kris Richard in-person as neither of the two are currently employed by NFL teams (and coincidentally, interviewing both in-person satisfies the Rooney Rule and thus they are now free to hire Antonio Pierce as their full-time HC at any point if that's the direction they're going to go).

I think if we do end up interviewing a Harbaugh or Belichick type, we'll find out just like we found out about the Frank Smith interview last night - an out of the blue tweet from the official team account. All of our interviews so far are with candidates that are currently employed by teams so we can only do Zoom interviews at this stage. In-person interviews with currently employed coaches can't start until after Sunday.

Rationale sounded a lot like throwing darts at a board. Don't think any of the media folks this time around really know who Tepper has in the #2 spot if/when Johnson goes elsewhere.

ugh Tepper pls

Welp. Was hoping for some news on Carolina’s search, not about people in the building.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Vrabel end up in NE or Atlanta

The Titans fired Mike Vrabel

McClay would be a home run but given he's the defacto GM in Dallas, I have hard time seeing him leave the franchise he's been at for 20+ years for the Panthers in their current state of affairs.
-
I know we interviewed him last time around and that he’s had previous experience in the front office with the Broncos and Bears, but not much more. He’s apparently done a great job as assistant and now interim GM with the Raiders.

Nah at the least you take the interview if you’re Johnson so you can take the $ offer to another team

Ed Dodds has been linked to whenever Harbaugh ends up so at least encouraging to see him on the list
