49ers D is going to eat Baker alive
-
Echoing a lot of other posts in this thread, I would like any of the below: Ben Johnson, OC, Lions Ken Dorsey, OC, Bills Byron Leftwich, OC, Bucs DeMeco Ryans, DC, 49ers Brian Flores, LBs, Steelers Shane Steichen, OC, Eagles

Just how Inept is our offense

The one thing I wish Fitt would do is value early round picks better. A 3rd round for CJ Henderson, a future 3rd rounder (which will likely be a top 5-7 pick in the round) for Corral...these are premium picks that shouldn't be wasted on marginal talent. Other than that, I do like being aggressive and trading mid-to-late round picks for proven vets like Gilmore and Shenault.

Eddy had his struggles as a rookie, but he's been rock solid ever since. Since Week 12 of the 2019 season, he's gone 27 for 27 on FGs and 25 of 27 on XPs.

My best guess is the bye week, week 13. Similar reasoning to letting Ron go early - get a head start on coaching search while letting Wilks coach out the string. Looking at the schedule, I think it's quite likely the team will be 2-10 or 3-9 at that point.

Aaron Wilson: Tepper's patience with Rhule growing thin
UNCrules2187 replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
I do think the next two games are essentially must wins for Rhule. I don't see how this team recovers if they start 1-4 with 3 home losses and then facing the Rams and Bucs back to back. If Rhule and co drop these next two, I think 1-6 is likely and the nail in the coffin for Rhule. -
Aaron Wilson: Tepper's patience with Rhule growing thin

I would prefer an up and coming coordinator tbh - Dorsey, Leftwich, Demeco Ryans, Ben Johnson are all intriguing. If we're looking for a former HC, I'd prefer Flores to Quinn. While I think Payton would do well, I'm not in favor of giving up more assets to try to get him from New Orleans. -
I definitely think a combination of issues have led to the lackluster offensive performance so far. Baker's footwork hasn't seemed great and there's been multiple times he's bailed early from clean pockets. McAdoo's route combinations and playcalling are also leaving something to be desired. There's so much 11 and 12 personnel and little to no pre-snap motion to give Baker easier reads. Ultimately though, I feel like the playcalling isn't playing to Baker's strengths - Stefanksi is a better OC/playcaller than McAdoo and he schemed up easy throws to take advantage of Baker's skills. McAdoo seems more determined to call plays he likes rather than plays tailored to take advantage of both the QB and playmakers like CMC and Moore.

A sprinkle on Rivera at 10/1 seems worthwhile...

Meh. Their OL is bottom 5 in the league without Trent Williams (out at least 4 weeks with a high ankle sprain) and Jimmy G didn't exactly cover himself in glory Sunday night. Definitely need Baker to play at least middle of the pack instead of bottom 3, but the next two games are very winnable.

Cowboys WRs are garbo, Rush is throwing dimes out there

I still can't believe we lost to this Giants team...smh

Can we officially declare TMJ a bust?
UNCrules2187 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Complete coaching malpractice honestly. Give him 6 total snaps, mostly on run plays, then make him inactive? They should trade him since he’s clearly in their doghouse but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him flourish with a change of scenery. -
Chinn to Buffalo makes a lot of sense.
UNCrules2187 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Chinn is an in-the-box safety/hybrid LB. He actually does not fit what Buffalo needs, which is a replacement for Micah Hyde who's a rangy FS. Maybe put in a tad more thought before starting inane topics, thanks. -
Not that I think this is wrong, but I’m wondering if he’s charted every snap vs. just a few. He says it’s not cherry picked but would like to see someone go thru snap by snap and see if this is actually the case.

The Athletic NFL podcast - Whats next for the Panthers
UNCrules2187 replied to mrcompletely11's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unfortunately you can't "trade away" CMC at this point - his contract/cap hit makes it so that the value the Panthers could get back for him isn't worth taking the dead money hit anyway. At best you're going to get maybe a 4th round pick for CMC, and that's likely to come from a contender so it'd be a late 4th most likely. At this point, the Panthers just have to live with the contract and keep him around for a young QB, whether that's Corral or a top 5 pick next year, to lean on and get acclimated to the NFL. Not sure what the appetite is to cut Shaq (I imagine not high), but cutting him and Robbie would result in a ~$21m dead cap hit, but free up about ~$26m in cap space. -
Will this franchise ever have an "offense minded" head coach
UNCrules2187 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Assuming Rhule is fired, I'm all aboard the Ken Dorsey or Byron Leftwich train for HC. -
Falcons have also lost 2 games by a combined 5 points like the Panthers, the difference being I think they've lost to two better opponents than the Panthers have. Saints with Jameis are better than Cleveland (or at the very least, on par) and they came back from a 28-3 deficit against the defending SB champs on the road and got close to the red zone before Mariota threw a game sealing pick. The Panthers meanwhile couldn't handle an anemic/garbage Giants team on the road.

I think if Rhule is fired, Snow is probably gone with him. In that case, I'd rather Wilks be promoted to DC to handle the defense full time and keep McAdoo as OC. Promote Tabor to interim HC (he has experience leading Chicago as interim HC for one game last year due to COVID) and probably easy enough to elevate an assistant to full time ST coach.
