  1. Purdy wasn’t old when he got drafted so I don’t think that dispels my beliefs about older college QBs. There’s something to be said of SIX years of college experience for guys like Penix.
  2. I’m not sold on this class outside of the top 2 in Williams and Maye. Depth is nice but if I’m drafting a QB I’m looking for starter and I don’t see it in guys like Nix and Penix. I also didn’t think highly of Hooker last year and I’d put them in his tier. Older dudes dominating college football after transfers. Penix and Nix will turn 24 before the draft. This is Penix like 6th year of college ball. I’m not trying to give a QB until he turns 27 to figure out if he can be the guy or not in the NFL.
  3. Well he’s already shown he’s a top 2 running QB in the NFL when they design runs for him. Bryce will never be anything close to that. Heck, Fields may have more rushing yards last season than Bryce gets his whole career. So that part of the game is clear that Fields is better. As far as throwing the football Fields has a much stronger arm so he can be used in more ways than Bryce can. Fields is also absolutely a better deep ball thrower. Right now Bryce is the type of dude that has to live and dominate in short and intermediate game. I think Bryce is still too fresh to declare him better or worse than a year 3 Fields, Bryce could end up way better over time. I’m not ruling that out. But if you just want to look at what it takes to win football games for these two teams, Fields has higher highs which will sneak you wins here and there. He also has lower lows. Here in Carolina we need a bit higher highs right now for a QB to carry out team to a win. The situations aren’t equal either. Last year there was a five week stretch where Chicago topped the NFL in scoring and lost every game, all by one score because of how bad the defense is. If we had a stretch of five games here leading the NFL in scoring almost everyone would be off Bryce’s back. It feels like Bryce has a much higher floor than Fields but the ceiling might not be anywhere near as high. I wouldn’t declare one way best, it comes down to preference and coaching.
  4. My profile pic comes from friendly bets on this forum during times this place is fun.
  5. We aren’t going to be in the running for him anyways. We need to build other positions as we are stuck with Bryce for 4 years no matter if folks like it or not. Trading mid round picks for a QB would be silly. And Fields is going to be moved for what Trey Lance was moved for or more.
  6. It was a terrible game for him. Reminded me of what he looked like when he played at Indiana. I’m skeptical of most kids who go out west and put up massive numbers like Penix, Nix, Minshew, Eason, and I’m sure I’m forgetting others as I wake up for the day.
  7. Washington fumbled the ball away to open the second half. They are lucky they are playing a terrible team this week.
  8. Penix drove down the field but once they got in the redone they couldn’t punch it in. Will go down 7-3 at the half. Their drives were: Penix intercepted Penix intercepted 4 plays and a punt Fumble lost by Penix Field Goal Williams, Maye, Penix not living up to the hype today
  9. Penix JR has 2 interceptions and a lost fumble and they are currently trailing 7-0 to ASU who is 1-5…
  10. Penix has thrown his second INT of the game.
  11. I think Luck was well on his way.
  12. Penix intercepted on their first drive.
  13. Andrew Luck was one. As was Peyton Manning.
  14. I won’t disagree. I just see kids from the east transfer out west and dominate every year. Their team isn’t as good as the top ones we normally see.
  15. Penix and those boys are overrated.
  16. Panthers, Gators, Mets, Timberwolves and Avalanche. Year in and year out, my least favorite, hockey, is the one sport the team I follow is typically solid.
  17. This is a super fun game : Virginia and UNC.
  18. What did Trey Lance go for? Fields should go for that or more, IMO.
  19. Best WR in the league can help a young QB out regardless of the line situation. Look at the Bengals drafting Chase over an offensive lineman and then having immediate success and two deep playoff runs.
  20. For me it’s not about being a playoff team it’s about doing everything we can week to week to help make Young feel more comfortable.
  21. That’s where you have to coach up. Nobody in Chicago fandom has suggested Getsy is doing a good job calling plays. One week they are getting the ball out quick and Fields looks great and they are doing almost half of their passes via play action and then the next week play action drops below 15%. Their local guys have talked about it on podcasts a bunch the last few weeks.
