That is sort of how I viewed it. Even if he was brought in here to be a backup while Sam gets his new shot... this would have made our QB room infinitely better than it currently is. Pretty sure Minshew had more touchdown passes thrown after his first start in the NFL (2) than Walker and Grier have thrown combined in all their passing attempts in the NFL. 108 attempts for our two boys and still haven't made it to 2 touchdown passes. Minshew had that in 28 attempts. On the flip side, looking at interceptions... Minshew has 11 interceptions in 797 pass attempts. Our two boys have thrown 9 already in like 106 pass attempts. You don't expect 6th rounders to produce in the NFL the way Gardner has. I mean, hes outproduced Sam as well as a former first rounder. The Eagles basically gave up nothing for a young guy who has already performed well with lesser talent around him.

This is not the most this place has ever cared about a backup. Matt Moore of recent memory comes to mind as a much more talked about backup here.

Yeah he is missing time this year for sure. I don't mind saying no to him coming here at all, I just want his court stuff to be in the past before we entertain the idea of even being in on discussions with him.

No way of knowing if Slater looks good here next to our other offensive linemen and playcalling. We do know that Horn has looked good so far with our surrounding talent and playcalling. No need to play "what if" as of today.

We can't have a number 2 who struggles to complete 50% of his passes. He has regressed and gotten worse from last year to now. He looked awful in the preseason. His best game was 50% completions. The other two were even more horrific. You'll either stop posting here or make a new account and be back soon enough arguing to support the next trash tier QB to take over Sams job.

We should have offered the same. Has Jacksonville been a better team the last two years than the Jets? Minshew is basically at 63% completions, 38 touchdowns to 11 interceptions with a team actively trying to suck around him. If Jacksonville would have moved him during the draft I am sure they could have pulled a third or fourth for him. Instead he got to eat some of Lawrences reps with the 1s and the trade him away anyway to avoid conflict in the locker room.

Will Grier just smoked PJ Walker this preseason. PJ Walker played in 3 preseason games and did not complete more than half his passes in any game. 16 of 39 passing for a completion percentage of 41% - 252 yards passing, 1 touchdown to go along with 1 carry for 4 yards. Will Grier played in 3 preseason games and did not complete less than 60% of his passes in any game. 22 of 31 passing for a completion percentage of 71% - 222 yards passing, 0 touchdowns passing to go along with 7 carries for 32 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown. If Will Grier just dirted the next 8 passes to have the same amount of throws as PJ he would still have a better completion percent by about 15%. That is how badly PJ Walker just performed. If Rhule wants to reward guys for making progress over where they were a year ago, Grier has improved where it looks like Walker has regressed. If Walker is the 2 its just because he was at Temple.
