I’m not sure what Sam is yet. I’m confident PJ ain’t it. We saw him in the regular season last year with Curtis, DJ and Robbie and he went 1:5. Before judging Sam id like to see him with those same weapons.

I agree, for now. Regular season will start and we will see how things go. For a lot of us we were happy to see the offense with Darnold in charge shortly but when the real defenses are out there, will he challenge teams downfield? That’s what I disliked about Teddy. Hoping Sam takes more shots.

I just think you are intentionally overhyping a guy with horrific numbers just to troll the message board here and deep down you know this guy isn’t a starter. the other part I dislike about your type of fandom is that you don’t just want the backup to do well, you actively want the starter to play poorly just so your guy can get game action. When he got it last year he played horrible. There’s no way to make 1 TD and 5 INTs sound like it’s good or league average. It’s horrible.

There are no Will Grier fanboys here. Nobody here is clamoring for him to start or believes that at this point he would make a successful starter in the NFL.

PJ and Fields aren’t really comparable. I believe PJs pro day 40 is closer to Darnold than it is to Fields. Fields faced more pressure than any other QB this preseason on his drop backs (49% of his drop backs were under pressure) and he didn’t shrink to a miserable 41% completions. It’s not against PJ only. The year before it was against Grier. When you play like trash you should be cut or the position should be upgraded. If Sam goes down, our season is over. Pray for 14 to stay healthy and develop. We need to upgrade at backup QB. Grier would be minimally better than PJ anyway. Neither one of them are winning us games. They can only hope to not be the cause we lose, it they won’t ever be why we win. Panther fans don’t root and hope for the starter to go down just so the backup can get reps and prove he’s not starting material.

All reports from these joint practices have been Tua has looked pretty good and has thrown the deep ball much more frequently and with good success. I followed the Bears camp to check on Justin Fields and they had joint practices with the Dolphins. I admit that may not translate to actual games but it sounds promising for the Dolphins this offseason.

Don’t the Jets have like 4 picks in the first two rounds of the upcoming draft? Their year 3 is going to be a major make or break. The only downside for the Jets right now is their division is loaded with young talent at QB already for them to compete against. Tua, Allen and Jones are all 25 or younger, too.

Not sure I’d say any TE on this roster is going to eat. DJ Moore, CMC, Robbie Anderson and Terrace Marshall should all be higher priority targets than the TE. And as you pointed out, among those TEs he’s going to be splitting targets with Arnold.

Why talk about stats after preseason week 1? Because you said you were going to. Because you thought PJ would have a decent game. When he got outplayed two weeks in a row, giving you nothing to cheer about, you decided to not make the posts you said you would on evaluating the play of the QBs. You are not a Panthers fan. More confidence has lead to 1 touchdown and 5 interceptions? And more athletic has lead to 4 career Rushes for -2 yards and a fumble? Sam averaged 5.9 yards per rush last season on 37 attempts.

Fromm in the preseason: 21 of 36 for 172 yards. 58% Completion rate. 3 carries for 17 yards and a TD.

How can you say, today, that this defense is elite? And no, if PJ Walker is our starter we are not an "easy 9 wins or ten". If he starts 17 games we are picking in the top 5.

Nepotism doesn't mean he earned the job. He played horrible. You saw it. You wanted to talk all this trash the first week and then magically when he started completing no passes you ran away, posted gifs, and no longer gave your updates or thoughts on the game itself anymore while he was in. He will never be a good starting QB in the NFL. You were talking about him taking over for Sam when he was never in competition with Sam. He was in competition with Grier. He lost the competition. The team went with him because Rhule likes him. It clearly has 0 to do with performance. Because he didn't perform. 41% completions in preseason is trash tier performance. Even you couldn't deny that and thats why you stopped giving your updates on his performance. It was hard to watch. If he is a starting QB for this team at any point this season we have lost all hope of this season ending in a playoff trip. One final thought, it says a lot about you when you are visiting another teams forum hoping that the starting QB sucks on our own team so your backup can get a crack at the job.

He doesn’t move the ball much is the issue. His numbers are horrible. He got carried to a win last year against a dying Lions team that the defense literally shut out. Most guys could give us 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions and win if the defense is going to shut out a really bad team.
